this was a great mystery novel, the characters were great and I really enjoyed reading this. I hope there is more in this universe.

This was an engaging novel. It has a few subplots as well as a few red herrings thrown into the mix. The book also had a nice pace to it.

Black Quarry Farm is the 8th in a series. I haven't read any of the others, but I feel aside from not knowing everything about the reoccurring characters backstories that they can be read out of order.
John and Lara Beech are murdered on a weekend trip to a winery- the aforementioned Black Quarry Farm- and it looks like a mafia style hit. The problem is, detectives can find no nefarious connections involving them.
There are plenty of red herrings and the cast of characters is long enough that I actually wrote out names and who they are in my reading journal.
Black Quarry Farms was good for what it was and I might look into reading some of the others.

Surprisingly I actually liked this book quite a lot. I almost never read series and Ithis book was number 7 or 8. It was well written if a few too many characters.on the whole, I’m glad I read it and would definitely recommend it. Thanks to NetGalley and Ian Cameron for allowing me an arc to this book In exchange for my review.

This is a well written novel. The characters are life like and believable. This is a very heavily police procedural driven storyline that follows an intricate investigation step-by-step.

There are multiple subplots so it does create a convoluted story, and one must persevere to remain focused on the main plot. I did find the switch in character perspectives to be abrupt and confusing until I got used to it because the new character and chapter often had nothing to do with the one preceding it.

The author includes a huge variety of crimes to include profession hits, drug smuggling, mistaken identities and the list goes on. It does prove a challenge to follow but overall it's a decent book.

The police characters (DI Angus Henderson and DS Carol Walters) really made the book for me because I could connect better to their steady constant tenacity and their focused driven team investigation.

Multiple crime categories lead to a dizzying lineup of police: the Major Crimes Team, Drugs Unit, Customs, Organized Crime Team, and several more. The characters list is mind boggling, the author names everyone at every crime scene. I tried to discount the character that didnt have a lasting impact on the story. Without that I became confused and actually reread several sections because I found the huge line up of characters in my mind melding together. I must admit I haven't read the rest of the series (that I'm sure contributed to my confusion). This is definitely a really complex storyline so I actually read the book twice.

The author does eventually tie up many loos ends and subplots while leaving a lead in to the next book which I don't mind it leaves something to look forward to.

I definitely dont recommend just jumping in like I did. If you like complex police procedures and crime driven stories you will enjoy this book.

I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review.

I usually enjoy Iain Cameron books but this one failed to keep me interested. This is the eighth book to feature DI Angus Henderson but there were too many complex sub plots and characters for my taste unfortunately. It is fast paced with some interesting characters and was tightly woven. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

I could see this book as a drama on TV. Twists and turns, it kept me turning the pages.

A married couple are killed whilst on holiday in a remote cottage on the edge of a vineyard with no apparent reason as to why! Is it a case of mistaken identity? DI Angus Henderson soon realises there was previously a cancellation for that week! Now the plot starts to thicken!

This was a great read. Descriptive, and with the added bonus of the story's location being near to my home town, I could relate really well. It's a must read.

DI Angus Henderson is on another job. It started when a husband and wife are shot dead while on holiday. It progresses to the textile industry. How can so many people be dead over something that seems unrelated. The lucrative business of textiles is more than it seems. Henserson and his team need to figure out what is going on before more people die.

DI Angus Henderson is back with another excellent murder to solve. This one finds a couple murdered in their holiday let but they are squeaky clean and Henderson and Team can find no motive at all. Eventually decide it's simply a wrong place at wrong time for them, but trying to find the gunmen takes time, patience and an awful lot of team effort. Very well written as usual although I'm not quite so sure about the detailed descriptions of which street runs into which in Brighton - doesn't add anything to the story to me but then I've never actually been to Brighton. That apart, the characters are well-written, have real lives as well as their police duties and are a thoroughly nice bunch. More please. Thanks to NetGalley and the Independent Book Publishers Association for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

Enjoyed very much. At the time of reading, I was not aware this was book 8 in a series. Couldn't tell at all. It stands on its own just fine.

Loved the plot. Wrong people just in the wrong spot. Great character in Angus. Will definitely check out the rest of the series.

Highly recommend.

4 stars

This novel is a very good addition to the DI Angus Henderson series. He has a new house now and is busy moving in and trying to recall where things are when he gets a call about a double murder. John and Lara were on a small vacation when they were shot to death in the night by intruders. The home they were murdered in was a for let place at a vineyard owned by a very wealthy semi-retired man.

On the surface, there is nothing to indicate that they might have enemies. They were just ordinary people without even a parking ticket between them. Did the shooters get the wrong people?

This is a well written and plotted novel as are all of Iain Cameron's Angus Henderson books in this series. His characters are lifelike and believable. This is a very good police procedural that follows an intricate investigation step-by-step. I have enjoyed all of the books in this series and look very much forward to the next in this series. .

I want to thank NetGalley, Iain Cameron and IBPA Members' Titles for forwarding to me a copy of this very good book for me to read, enjoy and review.

This was a good read. I had not read any other book in this series & as this is the eighth in the series, I was a bit worried that I would struggle with the background. However, this can be read as a stand alone book. It is a good, solid police procedural, which I enjoy reading. I thought that the plot was good & that it moved along at a decent pace. I'm definitely going to have to hunt out the rest if the books in the series.
