"The Black Ditch" had a little too much happening all at once. I was initially interested in the climate change theming but it just didn't hold up.

Black Ditch envisions a world where “climate change” has changed the world and London is run by graft and guns. Although the start of the book is intriguing with refugees and adoption and the like, the rest of it doesn’t really do much with the early themes.

Topical theme, of course, but I simply could not follow. Too many persons, too many lines, who is who, who is against whom... And definitely too much blood for my liking. Maybe the end of our days will be just like this, and I share the assumption, that humans are doing everything to speed up the climate disaster. But, do I have to read about it packed like this? Not really. It‘s not for me, and actually apart from killing each other, nothing really happens on the first 150 pages or so. I must admit, that I started skipping pages and reading roughly only afterwards. I got the book from Net Galley for a review, and I won‘t read the rest of the trilogy, if it is going to be one.
