Neither wanted a relationship but life doesn’t always work out like we thought it would. Finding love and happiness is exactly what they needed when they least expected it.

I received an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.
Harper and Jakob are hurt by life and have a long way to soul recovery and happiness.
I liked all the parts where they come to find their self contradiction and work to throw away their fears to jump(back or just jump in a ‘normal’ life.
I think there’s an amount of pain at the end of the book that just brings sadness and frustration for me.
The beginning is too slow and and the end too excruciating. And I guessed many parts of what would arrive to Harper’s professional issues before I read them.
Anyway the writing is good and the feelings of the characters are well explained and make them very hero material.
All in all it’s interesting enough to make me want to read other stories from the series.

Everything you love about the classic romance genre, but with modern deep and realistic characters and themes, making the search for a happy ever after sweeter.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley.

This was my first book by the author, and what a great book it was.
The main characters are doctors and firefighters... what a better concept.
A Beautiful Fire isn't your typical cliche romance though, there's heartbreak and struggle along the way what makes it all that much more relatable.

beautiful book.

A steamy romance with sympathetic characters.

A well written romance! Great plot believable characters. This is a book taken out of a series but it can be read as a stand alone. Sad story with a happy ending. Thanks Caleo Press and NetGalley for the ARC!

This is the story of Dr. Harper Peters, infectious disease specialist and Jakub Wojcik, a widowed firefighter. Harper jogs past the fire station every morning to get a glimpse of the sexy firefighter and Jakub makes sure to be outside the station in order to see the beautiful jogger each morning. Until the morning that Harper literally falls into Jakub and thus their story begins.
Although Jakub is still grieving his wife, he feels a pull toward Harper. The first since his wife's death and although he's cautious at the same time he wants to explore it.. Harper has an "ideal" for the man she thinks should be her life partner and Jakub is not it. She tries to distance herself from him and date a man she feels would be an ideal partner, but the pull back to Jakub is too strong.
We follow them as they dance around attraction until finally succumbing to their desire.
I recommend the purchase of this book to experience their story. You will not be disappointed.
Thank you Colette Dixon, Caleo Press and NetGalley for allowing me this advance copy in exchange for my honest feedback.

Since relationship angst often leads to the sweetest types of HEAs, I’m not afraid to jump right into the fray of it, folks. A Beautiful Fire had all kinds of sparks of attraction/chemistry between this main couple, but they both on numerous occasions were on and off again conflicted as to whether they should pursue being together. This lead to some knuckleheaded thinking/heated exchanges and even at times total silence/distance between them. Despite all that, I still hung on every word and loved seeing them choose each other when all was said and done.

As a young, widow, firefighter hero, Jakub has known loss. My heart ached for him. Harper is the first woman to grab his attention since his wife’s unexpected, sudden death. He openly admits he still grieves for her, but Harper has pulled at his heart’s strings in such a way she feels like a new kind of love, not a replacement. So, yeah, he’ll always still love the memory of his late wife, but Harper does seem to have his heart now.

Surprisingly, Harper became more wishy-washy than Jakub. She even contemplates long term dating another guy in another city who was previously always asking her out. In fact, she goes out to dinner with the guy after she and Jakub appear to part ways. She claimed to be decisive and knew what she wanted in a guy. However, I couldn’t help but visualize her as a daisy petal plucking decision making type of person..”I’m going to love him”..”I’ll love him not”. We are told her past baggage and are lead to believe that is her justification.

Anyhow, my fellow romance book loving friends, I’m glad these two knuckleheaded lovebirds finally come to their senses and let love be the best medicine and consume them heart and soul.

Title: A Beautiful Fire, Series: Love at Lincolnfield (Book 4), Author: Colette Dixon, Pages: 279, stand-alone but part of a series, relationship angst, widow firefighter hero, doctor heroine, a couple very graphic smex scenes, conflicted main couple, heroine even more wishy-washy, knuckleheads falling in love, writing flowed well, list making type heroine, not a manho, celibate since wife’s death.

Book 1 - A Beautiful Risk
Book 2 - A Beautiful Touch
Book 3 - A Beautiful Match
Book 4 - A Beautiful Fire

This is the fourth book in this series but I am led to believe each is a total stand alone story I enjoyed this book enough to go back and read the previous books in the story

The characters in this book are both fighting their own personal demons Jakub Wojcik (Jake) lost his wife five years earlier and is still wallowing in guilt determined to never love again. While Doctor Harper Peters has a list a mile long that any future suitor will have to complete ( I had problems with her she was so unrealistic with her list). Harper has been ogling the local firefighter every day when she is out for her run and when she falls at his feet Jake steps in and takes her to the hospital Can these two let down their walls and realise that life isn't perfect and that you have to compromise sometimes Can they heal one another and do they have a future together.

Tough call for me with this one. I didn't love it the way I loved the first few in the series. I hard a hard time relating to Harper, who was just a little rough around the edges and rigid. Jake didn't fare well with me either, although I did like his sense of humor and his sweet family, along with the food! I can relate! I did like him better than Harper though. Harper had a list made of criteria that she wanted in mate. Her problem was she wanted every box ticked and just a tad unrealistic. Her problems start when she's out jogging and falls literally at the feet of the hot fireman she eyes everyday while she's out for her run. Feeling like he needs to help her, he's off his shift and takes her to the Hospital to get checked out. Harper doesn't want help. Jake doesn't want a relationship, he's still not over the death of his wife 5 years prior.
There's plenty of push pull in this relationship, Harper begins to realize that maybe her list is skewed and Jake while still fighting is regret is falling for Harper. This story has plenty of tension and the plot was solid and writing as always, stellar. This just wasn't my favorite book. I love this series, Colette writes a great story!

The story was ok but I found it difficult to connect with the characters.
Harper is a doctor of looking for love. Based on her relationship with her father, she has come up with a list of desirable characteristics for her future partner. I didn’t like the fact that she shared this list with Jakob on their first date when he didn’t really fit any of those traits. Granted, he asked what her list was, but hasn’t she heard of discretion? Also, she didn’t practice what she preached. She had dropped a former boyfriend, who even though ticked 90% of the positive boxes, did not communicate often enough for her. Yet, she herself did not communicate with Jakob, even though they were now dating, when she decided to move to another city for a month for her job.
Jakob is a widowed firefighter. I guess I like more alpha males as I found him too uncertain. I am all for consent, but the first time they are making out, he kept asking if it was ok to kiss her, to touch her. I found it to be a mood killer.

Colette Dixon’s fifth book, A Beautiful Fire, in the Beautiful series (each a stand-alone) was slow moving for the first 2/3rds of the book, but the last 1/3rd was fast moving and emotionally driven. Ping ponging insecurities, conflicting desires, and emotions packed the first part of the story...but by staying true to her characters...not seeking any type of cliche HEA ending...this author brought relatable authenticity and personality to the characters. I don’t think I developed an emotional attachment to Harper until the last part of the story, with Jayub, that formed early on...his was a character rife with depth and personality, which stood out prominently all throughout the story.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

I love Colette Dixon’s books and this was no exception but I’ve got to admit this falls in the bottom rail in her series. Obviously just like the other books, this was no unicorns and rainbows but a true heart wrenching story. I wouldn’t say it totally breaks your heart but it still manages to make your heart twinge.

Unlike the other heroines, I had a slightly hard time to warm up to Harper. Even Jakub, although I really liked both of them it was harder to completely love them. Which means they were more human than just other book characters. Not the perfect characters you find in books but people you can expect to see on the road or be your friend. People don’t always make the correct decisions. Sometimes that is what helps them become more mature over time.

Still I really loved the book and would really love to read the rest of the series, if Ms Dixon thinks of continuing it. Also reading 3 of her books in close proximity, I’ve got to say that she’s fast becoming one of my favorite authors.

A sexy and sad book with a happy ending. Reminds me of an old school romance book. Definitely one to add to your must read list.
