I love a good cocktail, especially one that is simple to make, with simple ingredients I have at home, that doesn't suggest an oddball glass, so I was especially excited to review this book. Each recipe outlines the glassware and tools, gives detailed instructions, and finishes with a diagram of the ingredients and method. It gives common recipes using common liquors. I purchased a copy for my home bar and would give it as a housewarming gift.

Cocktails Made Simple is a great book for helping readers learn how to make the best drinks possible at home. I like that while the proper tools are listed, and explained- substitutions are suggested so that those of us that rarely need a tool can still make some of the more complicated drinks without going out and buying more equipment. I also liked the detailed information on all the possible ingredients, included recommending brands. As someone that is not a big drinker (preferring one quality drink I know I like rather than trying something in question) there are some things I have never tried, or at least variations I have not tried, so knowing some information on the drinks before diving in was very helpful. Similar, seeing the drink ingredients and percentages made it easier to decide on which I might enjoy most, and be most eager to try. I found the instructions and related information to be very accessible. I liked the illustrations that detail the creation of each drink as well. It felt very easy to follow, and the tone was encouraging. My husband and I tend to stick with the same comfortable drinks, but now I think I might add a few new things to my repertoire. There is a trip to the store and some tasty cocktails in my near future.

This is a great book for any beginner or expert cocktail maker. It is simple in format making it amazingly accessible and quick to understand. It contains enough history about the drink to educate the new bartender, but it doesn't overwhelm with surplus facts. I would highly recommend this for anyone who is looking for a staple for their bar cart library.

This is a great beginners guide to making some of the most popular drinks at home. They break it down for you so its easy to understand. Most are a lot easier than I thought! I would definitely recommend.

What better way to celebrate your love for cocktails but to get the inside scoop and easy way to do them yourself. Very informative! Loved the recipes!

First part of the book includes great info on terms, tools, ingredients, and techniques related to cocktails. The second part has recipes divided into chapters based on the main alcohol included, 5 drinks in each. The recipes include a drawing of the drink in an appropriate glass with proportions of ingredients and garnishes. I was disappointed that many of the drink recipes were for what I would consider classics or standbys. Therefore, I didn't feel it was super necessary to have a book teach me to make things like a gin and tonic. Had the first section been followed by more recipes and included some more interesting or exotic things, my rating for the book would be higher.

Yummy cocktails! All my favorites are in here along with little anecdotes about them. I'm looking over my favorites, the ones I order when I go out, and and finding they aren't as complicated as I always thought. This cocktail book isn't like a bartenders guide, filled with bajillion of recipes. It has just the popular ones everyone enjoys drinking. Good for a host's or hostess's home bar. It would make a nice gift for a home bartender!

This is a great little instructional guide to basic beginners bartending. It's very well organized with diagrams and instructions for making many popular spirited beverages. This book would make a great gift for someone who would like to learn the art of making cocktails at home.
