This simply feels old and dated, which makes sense as it is a reissue. I can't get past the first chapter.

This was an reissue of one of Colgan’s earlier titles. I was worried to read it after reading Amanda’s Wedding, one of her other earlier works. I struggled to like Amanda and her story told in first person. However, this one is slightly better. Kate is far more likeable but still lacked the depth and sweetness I have come to expect from Colgan. It was all in all a very light romance with some silliness. I was given an advanced reader's copy via NetGalley, thank you to them. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’ve read several Jenny Colgan books, and I’ve like them all. This one gave me major The Bookshop on the Corner vibes (city girl goes to the country). In this one, Katie goes to village in Scotland where the men outnumber the women like 60 to 1 to do PR for a forestry company. She does her best to save the forest from being turned into a golf course - through the newspaper, radio shows and a TV appearance. And with all the men in Fairlish, Katie finds herself with two - which would never happen in London. You should check it out (Although this did feel more like a winter read than the first day of summer read, so maybe wait to read it. 🤷‍♀️)

I found this book a little uneven. It took me a long time to get into it and then somewhere in the middle it just grabbed me and I couldn't put it down. Unfortunately, it didn't keep its hold on me and I found that the ending dragged on a bit and I skimmed through the last quarter of the story.

Colgan's novels never fail to warm my heart and this one is no exception. This romance presents the familiar enemies to lovers plot line and we journey alongside Katie and her friend Louise from the dismal streets of fair London to a village in the Scottish Highlands called Fairlish. The Scottish scenery comes alive through beautiful description and quirky action, the characters are endearing and fun and the story takes lovely turns as it navigates new romances. This is a wonderful standalone or can be read as a part of her series. Either way, I highly recommend! You'll find yourself grinning throughout.

Love Jenny Colgan books but this one was not my favorite. I felt the main character acted very immature with handling work and men.

To be 100% honest, I only finished this book because it originally came from NetGalley and I wanted to be able to leave a review. With that said, as much as I love Jenny Colgan, this book was not for me.

I could not connect to any of the characters, and in fact found every single one of them miserable, aloof, standoffish, and annoying. There were so many female characters right at the beginning that even halfway through the book I was clueless as to who was who.

The ending took me by surprise as I felt there was no build up to the moment and was like "whaaaat?"

I will definitely read more of Colgan's works, this one just wasn't me.

This turned out to be a really sweet and engaging story. The beginning was a little slow, but once I hit about 25%, I couldn't put it down. All of the characters were very lovely--an adorable rom com.

I have never read a Jenny Colgan novel before, but I have heard from trusted sources that they are charming, escapist reads with gorgeous settings and lovable characters. In this book the protagonist, Katie, leaves London for the Scottish Highlands in search of good men. This decision is spurred on after Katie reads an article stating there are far more available, single women than men in London and seems the available men leave much to be desired. I was excited to read this one based on the description and what I know of the author. My struggles with the book started early and did not improve. I found Katie very unlikable as a protagonist and her girlfriends at the beginning of the book were also difficult to like. I know that this is a reissue of an earlier published book and I definitely plan to try other Jenny Colgan books after this. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I found this one very hard to get into. Will not be purchasing for my location. Not sure if book will be ordered for system as a whole.

I found this to be a disappointment. I found the characters stereotypical, harsh, and tiresome. It doesn't have the charm of more recent Jenny Colgan and I think a re-issue wasn't necessary.

When I started reading Where Have All the Boys Gone, I didn't realize it was a reprint of an older book of Colgan's. While I still mostly enjoyed the novel, I think the book wasn't nearly as well-written as Colgan's newer novels. I know it'll still find readership at my library, so we will still buy a copy. Thank you

In the past I have really loved Jenny Colgan’s books but this time I had a really hard time getting into this book. I’m hoping her future books will be more like her earlier ones.

This re-issued Jenny Colgan novel was a huge disappointment to me. Katie, who works in PR, takes a job in Scotland , in a town where there are very few female residents, unlike her home in London, where the woman are complaining that there aren’t enough men to go around. One dimensional flaky female characters and a contrived plot surprised me, as Colgan is one of my favorite authors. Thanks to the publisher and to Netgalley for the ARC.
