Somehow this story list me. I was very confused and not quite sure what was going on half the time, unfortunately.

Bulb did not live up to the premise. The writing was scrambled and needs editing. I struggled to finish this book.

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a a difficult novel to read and follow. It opens with Ben's narration but breaks up into disjointed thoughts and conversations with what I think is a computer. The layout and scrambled thoughts that piece together a chaotic storyline made this an unpleasant experience.

This has all of the science fiction. A floating city, rideable tornados, weird hair/nude fashions, a technology that allows everyone to see what you are doing, a mad crazy scientist, plant things, etc.

I will say that this book could use some polishing up. Maybe some more editing and explanations on what some things are. This was a really fun book and I enjoyed reading it. LOVE the cover art too, it sucks you in.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC

Bulb may not be what Tom Edison had in mind when he came up with the lightbulb. And it may not be the traditional novel that you are expecting. Not only is it science fiction in theme, but experimental in form. At times, it reads like a novel, but it can also be a series of Internet emails or a psychoanalysis session. It feels sort of psychedelic in its layout kind of like modern art. That being said, keep an open mind when you open this and prepare for a world where our entire lives are visible to everyone like Facebook without privacy controls and archived so as to be eminently available always. No secrets ever. No off-grid activity. But can you trust the archives? Can we trust what we find on Wikipedia or anything else on the internet that's subject to editing and manipulation. But, perhaps privacy ain't what it's made out to be and the next step is shared consciousness like the example of conjoined twins with shared lives and separate minds. Lots of really interesting themes here.
