When I first selected this book, I thought, “What an unusual title for a mystery novel.” As I read along, I got it.

I have read Mr. Kellerman since the beginning of his writing career and I must admit that this is one of the most deliciously twisted plots that he has come up with.

LAPD Lieutenant Milo Sturgis responds to a call of an unusual crime at an abandoned “party house” in the hills above Beverly Hills. Four people were found dead in a limousine, killed in a variety of ways. The scene looks odd. Milo calls in Dr. Alex Delaware, his close friend who aids him with the “different” cases.

The story follows a very well written police investigation into the deaths of these four people, and others as it turns out. It follows the red herrings and dead ends that the cops must investigate; the small triumphs and disappointments. It also touches on the personal relationships between the officers, as well as Milo, Alex and Robin, Alex's girlfriend. I love these little asides in Mr. Delaware's novels for it feels like I am visiting with old friends.

I also like the easy to follow and easy to read style of this author's writing. The reader is entranced with the story as the words and pages fly by. I am always sorry to see one of Mr. Kellerman's books end. I can hardly wait for the next novel in this series. What kind of story will he come up with this next time?

I want to send a big thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group – Ballantine/Ballantine Books for forwarding to me a copy of this most wonderful psychological drama for me to read, enjoy and review.

I can go ahead and break down the story if you like, but really is that necessary. Odds are if you're considering this book then you are well aware of who Jonathan Kellerman is. You may already be well invested in the Alex Delaware series, and feel like Milo, Robin and Blanche are all part of your inner circle. If you don't know all of that, then let me fill you in. Jonathan Kellerman is an author worth investing your time in. With an inane talent for character development, timing , engrossing plots, and the all important skill of engrossing his readers in a detailed, entertaining story.
This latest book in the series certainly lives up to expectations, and opens up with a crime overflowing with both a weird and ick factor. And honestly, that's the most I'm going to tell you about this book. A synopsis is not what you should read to decide if you want to read this book. What I can tell you, is that this book was incredibly entertaining, as well as satisfying. I'm not sure about you but far too often I read a book that starts off great and falls flat by the end. Takes me forever to get into , and has some semblance of a pay off by the end. And of course those stories that would have been great if only some things were different. This book has none of those scenarios. Instead I had a compelling story, well defined characters, and on par writing that entertained me as I read through it quickly. I'll also add that I've read many books described as a crime, or police procedure genre , and I can smell a plot twist coming a mile away. I almost always know the big reveal before the author hands it to. In this case, he got me. He got me so well that I could take a moment sigh and think to myself , "didn't see that one coming." I don't know about you, but that alone made it more enjoyable .
So set the reminder on your calendar for February 4th and invest your time in this series. You will not regret it. Thank you netgalley for the chance to read and review this ARC.

The Museum Of Desires employs all of Kellerman’s strongest talents - pacing, characterization, and a deft skill for presenting entertaining, engrossing plots. The Museum of Desire opens with a bizarre and grotesquely murder of four seemingly separate lives. When Milo Sturgis and Alex Delaware slowly pick through a mountain piled high with minute clues, the reader meets a wide cast of personalities, disordered and not, as well as a peek at a dark side of history and art.

Admittedly, quite a few of the recent Kellerman releases have been ho hum, but with The Museum of Desire, Kellerman has once again intrigued and delivered.

This was an advance readers copy, but all opinions are my own.

Jonathan Kellerman does it again. As a faithful reader, i jump at the chance to read a Milo/Alex book. These characters are like old friends....I enjoy seeing what they are solving with each book. In addition, I always seem to learn something new (this time was the world of exotic art.). Overall, a great read. Our library will definitely be purchasing as many of our patrons love the series. Thank you for the advanced copy.
