Disclaimer: It didn't make me fall asleep!

This Book Will Make You Fall Asleep by Jean Z. Lucas falls short of expectations for me. While it features charming cartoon drawings of sheep and some simple activities like mazes and word searches, the content lacks depth and substance. The book offers only a handful of common-sense bedtime tips and sleep-related quotes.

The illustrations in this book are cute. The puzzles are simple. I think it accomplishes what it set out to do. It entertains while you try to fall asleep/

If the book’s intent was to make me fall asleep through boredom, it succeeded in making me feel sleepy. Most of the book is just drawings of sheep either with a night cap or are colored with a few quotes about the importance of sleeping said by famous people and simple puzzles here and there. I guess the intent was to count the sheep and be sleepy afterwards, but the book feels empty to me because it’s the same sheep everywhere.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with a digital copy for an honest review.

This book is quite true to its title. It is very whimsical in style, because the majority of the pages are cartoons of a flock of sheep, mostly white ones but with the odd black one thrown in for variety. Interspersed between the sheep pages are little quotes or tips to help the reader improve their sleep habits. I reviewed an ebook edition which would not be the recommended format for anyone buying the book for themselves or as a gift.

I was interested in this because I have always found it hard to fall asleep. I want to see if something from this book would help me fall alseep, but I couldn't. It was entertaining but not what I needed.

This Book Will Make You Fall Asleep from Andrews McMeel Publishing is an absolutely adorable book in which you make friends with Kip the sheep who will guide you from awake to asleep.

The book includes sleep hygiene types and quotes related to sleep. My favourite:

“Life is something to do when you can’t get to sleep.” – Fran Lebowitz

There are puzzles, including mazes where you have to get Kip to the pillow, word searches for sleep-related dwords, and a sort of Where’s Waldo to find the sleeping sheep.

The book is packed with plenty of woolly illustrated friends wearing cute little striped sleeping caps. Feel like counting sheep? This book would be perfect for that. The sheep per page ratio steadily grows as the book goes on, so by the time you’re at the end of the book the page is jam-packed with woolly friends.

So yeah, loved this – cuteness overload.

If you have trouble falling asleep, or if you know of someone that does - This Book Will Make You Fall Asleep is a really cute book to keep your mind from swirling with thoughts and give you something easy to do as you move into sleep. Full of wonderful illustrations, this book will have you counting sheep and actually getting tired. As the pages progress, the number of sheep increases and you will find yourself getting sleepy long before the end of the book. If counting sheep isn't for you, there are also puzzles and quotes to keep you relaxing. A great gift idea or a special reward for yourself!

Not at all what I expected. Partly this is my fault because I missed the fact that it's published by Andrews McMeel who I am quite familiar with being a publisher for visual works, mostly graphic novels and the like. But part of this is on the publisher, as the title seems clearly designed to feed into the ever-growing market of books catering to sleepless millennials with a lot on our minds and an abundance of insomnia. If you're looking for a cute quirky novelty, grab this one up. If you're looking for a book packed withe helpful and practical information to help you beat your insomnia look elsewhere.

Lots and lots of sheep. Didn't put me to sleep, little tips scattered among tons of sheep.
I understand the idea behind the book, but it didn't relax me st all, it annoyed me instead.
Thanks to NetGalley for a copy in exchange for honest review.

This Book Will Make You Fall Asleep is a cute gift book full of short puzzles, quotes, and pages full of little sheep in nightcaps to count. Due out 7th Jan 2020 from Andrews McMeel, it's 160 pages and will be available in hardcover and ebook formats.

This book is, quite simply, pages and pages of cute sheep (see cover), interspersed with about 30% of the content given over to puzzles (guide Kip the sheep through the maze to his pillow) or 1 page quotes pertaining to sleep. There are a few simple tips for getting to sleep which won't be a surprise for anyone who has ever Googled 'insomnia'.

This might make a cute gift for a coworker or friend. Two and a half stars. I rounded up because Kip was a very cute name choice in this context.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

This was a cute gift book with comical sheep, quotes on sleep and soothing tones to lull you to rest. Some of the puzzles were repetitive but I would be happy to receive this as a present.

There's not much to see here. Many of the pages just have cartoon drawings of sheep, some in night caps. There are several mazes where you help Kip the sheep find his pillow, some word search puzzles, and a few other visual activities. It has a few (very few) common sense tips on how to prepare yourself for bedtime, as well as some quotes pertaining to rest and sleep.

This seems like the kind of thing you might buy as a gift for an acquaintance or co-worker just for fun when you don't know what else to give them.

A truly creative and effective way to fall asleep with a book. The sleep evoking options are many and I must admit it was hard to stay awake but I mean that in the most positive way in that it really worked.
