Wicked Hunger is the first book in the Creatures of Darkness series by Kiersten Fay. After the death of her parents and baby brother when she was only ten, Coraline Conwell survived the best she could in a world devastated by a war between humans and vampires. She thought her luck had finally changed when she was ‘rescued’ by Winston Gordon, a wealthy businessman, only to find out he’d betrayed her on the night she became a widow, at the same time attracting the attention of the Vampire Enforcement Agency – something no human wants to do. With assassins after her and finding out that she isn’t who she thought she was, the question is will she survive long enough to get the answers she looking for?

The plot has lots of twists and turns to grab a reader’s attention but there was something about the heroine Cora that I just didn’t like. She came across as being stupid and very naïve. Definitely not someone who’s managed to survive on her own especially considering her backstory. Mason, the hero and vampire agent seems a bit too wimpy too be a badass but at least there’s an alpha anti-hero in the form of Knox. Another VEA agent but one with a hidden agenda. Will I read the next book in the series? Probably, but only because this book ends on a major cliffhanger and I have a few thoughts of my own about how the story will develop and I want to see if I’m right.

This was a great read.I love Mason and Cora they had amazing chemistry. I also like Knox he is an interesting character even though he is definitely up to something. The story is well written with an enjoyable storyline. There are ghosts, vampires, witches, plot twists and plenty of steam.

I found this book very interesting and enjoyable. It left me wanting more! Can’t wait to read the second in the series.

DNF. I just can't read anymore reverse harem novels, they're too much like the "bodice ripper" historical fiction that was so popular at one time. I wish all authors would put it in the synopsis so I don't waste my time.

Wow what a book the story line is great and I couldn’t put it down. Mace and cara, Knox well were to being love and hate . I’m sorry it ended on a cliff hanger. But what a book.

Why am I always late to the game? No, seriously? This book came out in 2017 and I'm just NOW reading it? And I liked it so much that I now need to catch up. Geez (slapping myself).

Caroline has grown up fending for herself. After a tragic incident as a child, she's literally been doing everything possible to survive. That included marrying a man who saved her from the slums. Turns out, the husband was a no good dirty rotten sleazeball. And to make matters worse, everything she thought she knew...has all been a lie.

Mason is a vampire who works for the VEA (think vampire FBI). While working a case, the unexpected happens, the suspects wife shows up. Now that the case has blown up in his face, keeping the wife safe is the new objective. Except someone is trying to kill her and he may have initiated a bond with her. Great...now what?

Let me first start by mentioning that I hate cliffhangers. Yep, I said it. I hate getting so drawn in to a story, to NOT FINISH IT! Thank goodness this was written a while ago, because I at least don't have to wait long to find out what's next. That being said, just because I don't like cliffhangers doesn't mean I didn't really like this book.

The constant plot changes kept me glued to the pages. Mason and Caroline's relationship is super heavy and amazing. But it's the x-factors that have me totally hooked. I can't wait to see what happens next. Damn you cliffhanger!!!!!

The book started out as promising--as a matter of fact I believe I read this before and apparently it didn't make an impression. I found the heroine to be whiny and annoying. Clearly not all vampires are ruthless and clearly the hero cares very much for you. Not saying she should get over it, but 3/4 of the book was the same crap. I was over it. Also, found this bonding with more than one vamp too much like a 3-some. Never cared for harem books and didn't like that aspect either. Turned me off right away. Don't know if I read any follow ups to this book and likely will not.

I really enjoyed this book, it moved along at a cracking pace with an interesting story line.

I liked Coraline especially, poor thing, she really has had a tough life. Her initial reactions to the vampires are entirely to be expected given her history and makes it all the more interesting to watch her relationship with Mason unfold. Her experiences over the course of the book see her changing and getting stronger. Mason's previous surveillance work leaves him already to be fond of Coraline and that only develops more over the course of the book. Bad boy Knox clearly has some redeeming features, given Mason 'owes him', but there's no sign of these yet.

The book is the first in a series, which I was aware of, but moved at such a cracking pace I thought this would be one fo those series where a different couple is featured in each book. That wasn't the case, toward the end it became clear that Knox would have a bigger role in Coraline's life and the story began to open up for following books rather than come to a conclusion. I'll admit I was a bit disappointed about that. Also, I really disliked the whole vampire bite brings human into heat mechanism - it just seems a rather lazy way to get the couple into bed quickly. Other than that, this was a cracking read and I'll be looking for book 2.

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange an honest review.
I've read this author before and I realize this novel follows the same formula as the others; a paranormal male dominant world where the female is under their control and the story is filled with scenes of violence and sexually explicit scenes of conquest. Not my cup of tea.

So my first question is this book a reverse harem or not. It is hard to tell. I think the author is leaning that way but I do like to know this stuff before I start reading a book. If that is the case a lot of things make more sense if not then they don't. This was an interesting start to this series. It ends on a cliffhanger. Book 2 is already out so at least you don't have to wait for it. Coraline has a lot happen to her in her young life. It seems that is not going to change anytime soon. It will be interesting to see where this series goes.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing/NetGalley Co-Op for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I am not sure if this is the first in a series of number 6? I could have used some basic background on the world . I didn't really like the story. I probably won't read any others. I just didn't like the characters. mason seemed okay but did stupid stuff and was so violent. Knox just was a moron. I skipped the sections with him in it. I truly don't mind series but I like books with definite endings...not to be continued. So this is not for me but I can see that many will enjoy it. I give this a 2.5.

Three words. Addictive. Mesmerizing and very sexy. Everything I craved and then some. Readers are going to eat it up like fine chocolate. 5/5 stars

I enjoyed the scifi romance from this author and expected a good story.
The writing is good and I eagerly devoured this paranormal dystopian. I read it in one sitting.

However, after the cliffhanger ending, I read the blurbs for the other books in this series. I found out the odd love triangle ends up being a reverse harem so I will not be finishing this series. I might read book about other characters if it is only 2 people in the relationship.

I voluntarily reviewed a free ARC from Netgalley.

This book was provided to me by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I got pre-approved on Netgalley for this book by Kiersten Fay and let me tell you THAT WAS AWESOME! And I've been in a romance and vampire mood lately so it couldn't have come at a better time. So big thanks to Kiersten Fay for letting me read another one of her books! (I've also read and reviewed Keeping His Siren)

Story: The story was jam-packed with lots of different things and nothing felt rushed. Usually paranormal romance books go too fast and certain situations give you a whiplash because they turn around so fast. Fay knows how to write a compelling story that you just can't put down with a storyline that will not leave you questioning your sanity.

Writing style: I am enamored with Fay's writing style. Her sentences flow together beautifully. I fly through her books and almost 400 pages are not enough. No amount of pages is ever enough.

Characters: Because I've read Keeping His Siren which is a standalone novel in this world and happens after the events in this trilogy, I already recognized some names and how important they truly are. Our MC Coraline is a woman with lots of issues and has a rough past that follows her everywhere she goes. Fay has portrayed her anxiety and fears so beautifully that I can't help but want to roll Cora in a blanket burrito and keep her safe. But I'll leave the protection to Mason, wouldn't want to get into a fight with that badass vamp. Don't let me start about Mason because I won't stop. *insert mayor heart eyes*

I finished this book incredibly fast, I couldn't put it down. I had to unfortunately because I had to go to bed, but the first thing I did when waking up is pick up this book. Fay's writing is an addiction that I never want to get rid of. I first gave this book 3,5 stars but now that I'm at the end of my review I've decided that it deserves 4 stars because it's just so damn good. I can't wait to read the next book!

I was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed reading this book. It’s not often I read a paranormal romance or fantasy where I’m not sure what’s going to happen... it’s very refreshing.
And what’s not to like... it’s got vampires, witches, plenty of action and sex!
There’s also obviously plenty of history between some characters, which I look forward to reading about in the books to follow.
Thankfully there was a sneak peek at the next book in the series because it had a cliffhanger of a ending that made me want to continue reading ASAP!
Thanks for allowing me to review this.. it really was a pleasure ❤️

I loved this book. It’s a cliffhanger though, and I really do hate when authors do this to their readers! That’s the reason for a 4 star instead of a 5.
The story in this “part” of a book is awesome. Vampires, witches, bonding, it’s all in this book.
Can’t wait to read more into this story.
