This book shouldn’t tell the reader exactly what is going to happen in the blurb. It would be way more fun to discover the look at the damsel in distress myth on our own. Trust the reader to figure it out. There isn’t really a ton of subtext, but the visuals and the actual text are revealing. I enjoyed the way Malassagne let the art take over. It is important to respect the visual aspect of the medium.

Kairos is delightfully Ghibli-esque! Suggested for most collections, especially ones where Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli are popular (note that there are a few scenes with breasts, if nudity is a concern).

I absolutely loved this book especially the ending!

Nills and Anaelle are at a cabin in the woods when a portal opens up and dragon-like creatures grab Anaelle. Nills follows her through the portal to rescue her.

I love the art. It reminds me of the cartoons that I used to watch as a kid. Cute characters that look simple at first glance, but the more you look at the panels the more you see. Every attention to detail was included. Even when you have a busy background, it only enhances the story.

It is an adventure story and I was instantly sucked in. The story is so engrossing that before I knew it the story was over and I instantly wanted to read it again.

Thanks NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. First, I love the artwork, I wanted to step into the book! I love Anaelle, she is such a bad ass, I appreciate the slight complexity of her character. I loved the dedication of Nills, at first. However, as the story progresses you see how ravaged he becomes by his obsession, it drives him to fight for something he knows nothing about, amongst other disturbing things (disturbing in the best way, the way that makes for good literature). I enjoyed the heck out of this story, although the ending isn’t what I wanted but it’s realistic and justified. Above all, it gave me a new author to look for, I can’t wait to read future works from Malassagne.

A fantastic tale for YA audiences, illustrating the effects of expectations that others have on us and our lives. Filled with exciting action, stunning illustrations, and a surprising plot twist.

I really enjoyed this fantasy graphic novel. I loved the art, it was colorful and had a lot of detail. I would put this book at a higher YA or adult because there was some nudity and violence. it is a great story about a princess who can save herself. I thought the end was a bit abrupt and I'm hoping for more but not sure that's going to happen. A great adventure story.

I liked the reverse narrative and attempt to shake things up in this flip on the damsel in distress trope. As per usual, another very strong First Second title for younger readers.

First off, WHAT?! How can it end there! I want more!!!!!

I really enjoyed this, it was a lot of fun, it was action packed and intense, it had weird fantasy elements and a love story with an actual realistic portrayal, it was great!

It was a little weird that once they were in Dragon World that Anaelle would have to marry her father in order to receive the powers. I mean, they sort of explained why, but it doesn't help the ick factor of it.

I loved watching Nills become more and more dragon like as he stayed in Dragon World and honestly would have loved to see what would have happened if he stayed. I loved Anaelle's reaction to the fact that he didn't listen to anything she had been saying, it was a perfect reaction to him treating her like a manic pixie dream girl.

I appreciated that all three volumes are in this book, but I really wish there was more to this story. I want to know what happens next.

I Don’t know what I was expecting from this book based on the cover, but it was not exactly what I was thinking, but at the same time it was. I was expecting an adventure where good triumphs over evil and love is eternal. Instead I got a dragon (who look like dinosaurs) fantasy about a kingdom where the princess daughter has to marry and consummate the marriage to her father in order to pass power to the next ruler. Uuummmmm UGHHHHHH.

This book starts out with a human couple taking a vacation in a cabin in the woods. But over night the dragons come and take the woman. Turns out she is a princess who ran from her home to make a life where she had complete say over everything that affects her.

Her geeky boyfriend Nills, may not seem like much, but he is full of heart and is determined to get the love of his life back. He hitches a ride to her world where he steadily defeats all those who stand in his way, while transforming into a dragon himself.

This book did not have the ending I was expecting. I get the ending, and I can understand why the author chose it’s direction, but I hated it. I can’t say more without giving things away.

I will not be recommending this to friends, however, the artwork was amazing, and I can not wait to see what the author comes up with next.
