I would like to thank netgalley and Canelo for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Austen Adventures series. I loved the first book and this book has lived up to the first one.

Rose, Aiden and Jane are back! This time Jane is convinced that someone connected to Rose is living next door to her, and that Rose and Aiden must travel back to 1813 to solve the problem.

I enjoyed meeting Jane's family and all of the period details.

A huge Thank to Canelo for inviting me to read and review The Unexpected Past of Miss Jane Austen. When I saw the invitation I was squealing with excitement and I started reading immediately,

The stiry picks up where Particulas Charm of Miss Jane Austen left off. Rose is happy with Dr. Aiden Trevellyan and Jane is safely back home in the 1800s. Rose thinks her life is back to normal, no more Jane-related adventures for her. How wrong she is! But this time Rose does the travelling. Jane asks her and Aiden to go back to 1813 with her. Rose at first doesn’t understand why she had to go with Jane but then she is introduced to Jane’s neighbor and Rose’s life suddenly gets even more complicated. Who is the mysterious neighbor?

I absolutely adored this book. Rose’s budding romance with Aiden kept me smiling while her emerging past kept me crying.

The characters are well-written and interesting, I enjoyed their interactions. The ending indicates a next book so I hope there will be a next book.

The Unexpected Past of Miss Jane Austen is highly recommended. Read it if you like Jane Austen, if you like to laugh and cry with the characters.

As Rose Wallace come to terms with her time travelling dalliance with Miss Jane Austen, the adventure continues then Jane intervenes to help Rose discover her past. Her newly blossoming romance with Dr Aiden Trevellyan takes on an unexpected direction when Jane reappears and takes both Rose and Dr Aiden back to the past.

The Unexpected Past of Miss Jane Austen is a perfect sequel to book one, the characters develop and relationships are tested. Rose is a wonderfully inviting character and the book exudes warmth, surprise and toil in spades.

I really loved reading this, as much as the first in the series. The characters are well developed, the plot is interesting and the minor cliffhanger makes me hope for a third book in this series. The book is also hilarious at times and I did laugh out loud once in a while.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Particular Charm of Miss Jane Austen, so when I was invited to read and review an ARC of this sequel, I jumped on the chance. I was not disappointed!

This book has all the charm of the first one, only this time around, some of the characters travel to the past at Jane Austen’s request. I enjoyed seeing the Austen family brought to life, and it was particularly interesting for me as I lived in Alton (very close to Chawton) for most of my life. The various people were all well written, and the development of the main characters from the first book seemed realistic. The ending was also far less of a cliffhanger than the previous book, which made it more satisfying for me.

Overall, this was a fun and charming time travel adventure. I look forward to reading the next book (if there is one).
