The Living Canvas picks up right where The Body Painter leaves off and then just takes off running! If you haven't picked up this Dark Romance duet please do so ASAP. I don't want to spoil this story since it is a sequel so I will just say that this book will make you angry and excited and shocked and heartbroken all at the same time for every different character. This is a wild ride and I loved every minute! I would say that I liked The Body Painter just slightly more but I do feel like this answered all the questions I had at the end of the first book and it did it well. You do have to read these in order but you won't want to put them down.

These are my first reads from Pepper Winters but will not be the last!

What would you do for the one you love? How far is too far? The first book was filled with questions and in the second book, we are given the answers. Motives are revealed and you can either let them destroy you or set you free. I loved every part of Gil’s tormented heart and broken soul.

“Love is misery. Lust is a loss. Family is my failure.”

I wanted this book to last forever. It completely consumed me. I couldn’t wait to read the next sentence to see what would happen next then I would scold myself for reading too fast. Even after slowing down, I finished within hours. I was so engrossed in the story I simply could not put this book down. It is the perfect combination of fear, love, and suspense. Highly recommend this duet!!

An absolute emotional roller coaster that will toss you into the past and back to the present. Questions are answered from the first book and everything finally makes sense.

The story is a bit boring and different from Monster in the dark series.
However, I still find the story acceptable.
Do suggest others to read this.

This book was probably the only one I have read in about a year that I couldn't put it down until I was completely done. Watching Olin and Gil's story progress and finally come to a close left tears in my eyes. If I could rate this 10 stars, I would.

I think this will be one of THE HARDEST reviews I have ever written, as the blurb says NOTHING about what will happen. Suffice to say that the plot will start where it had left in "The Body Painter" - where Olin was left in not a very favorable position as I can call it.
Saying anything about what would happen there would possibly spoil the read s I will stay out of the plot, and say only about emotions and feelings.
Olin - sweet little Olin, that is a SAINT whit everything that had happened to her, and what she's doing after that. I can say that she was in my eyes a little TOO good/saintish and this had made her a little annoying even with her inner dialogue, her decisions felt like she was just a saint, and that was something that I found har to believe in.
Gil - a tormented character that had my heart ripped out of my chest with everything that had happened to him in the present or past. His creation I find GREAT as he was so true in everything that he was doing/thinking due to what had happened in the past and how he was reacting in the present.
The chemistry between Olin and Gil was palpable and I LOVED how it was making them so vulnerable yet so strong.
I wanted to give this book two of the duet five stars but due to my little dislike of Olin's saintliness, I gave four stars.

I was looking forward to this book after the cliffhanger in book 1. There were a few surprises and twists which made for an excellent read overall. I really enjoyed how Pepper Winters wrapped this story up.

I liked this book overall. Pepper Winters could write a grocery list and I’d read it. Would recommend

This was sooooooo angsty… and long? This was both traditional pepper winters style and it also was not. There was not a lot of action but when there was it was very well done. I feel after the <spoiler> kidnapping and murder of his uncle </spoiler> the book fell so flat for me.
I am a huge fan of this author but man what happened with this book>? Maybe Gil was too OTP terrible to Olin?

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley.

Pepper Winters is one of my all time favorite authors.
Her work always impresses me.
The Living Canvas is a great addition to the series. The characters and chemistry are so amazing. The writing style is beautiful as always.
I cannot wait to read more.

I was so looking forward to this book after the major cliffhanger of book 1, and am sad to say I was completely disappointed. The beginning wrapped up a few things, but then I felt like the book just dragged on and on.....

Sorry, I normally love all books by Pepper Winters, but this one just fell flat for me.

Enjoyed this book and it nicely wrapped up the story set out in the first book. A few surprises and by the end you were really rooting for the characters.

This book was so unexpected. I was pushed to my limits with this one. The plot is fantastic. The ups and downs kept me on the edge of my seat. A high school romance, a teacher who raped her student, and an amazingly good guy work together to make a happy life for themselves. Sometimes you have to commit a murder to save the one you love.

This is the second book in The Master of Trickery Series. I was super frustrated at the end of The Body Painter because I had to wait until this was released. I dont often enjoy the second book in some duets and only speed read or finish it when I have an idea of how it's going to end and I'm not super interested. That was not the case with this book, I was interested until the very end.

Great story and characters, I read it in one sitting because the story kept me hooked and entertained, all the way through the end.

Like the first book in the series, we get a lot of flashbacks from then , when they first met and what happened to each in terms of who they become and why.
A lot of twists that I haven’t seen and expected but it made for a great read overall.

Wow! Talk about a roller coaster of emotions! This book was everything. The push and pull you see with both Gil and Olin’s relationship. I feel at times it was so heart wrenching but it gave the book so much depth to feel for theses characters, and all they go through.

With every book I read by pepper , I think wow she can’t possibly top this! Then she goes and writes a duet like this! This series will gut you but put you back together again!

Thank you netgalley! And of course a Huge thank you to pepper winters and her publishing house for giving me a chance to read this arc.

You need to read "The Body Painter" first - part one of this highly dramatic story. This book is well written, has dark themes -murder, rape, swearing etc, so if you don't like those, then steer clear. Gil and Olin have intense chemistry in this push/pull second chance romance. It's full of angst, passion, slow burn sizzle, repressed anger and heartbreak. Set in Birmingham England. Excellent conclusion to their heartbreaking story, so I give it 5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in return for my honest opinion. This author's back list is now on my huge 'to-read' pile.
