I absolutely Lisa Gardner's book. This is another book with Kimberly Quincy and the the book continues where the last one left off. This book is full of suspense and thrill. I didn't want to put it down. It kept drawing me in and left me wanting to know what was going to happen. This is a must read.

This is only the second book that I have read in this series but it can definitely be read as a stand alone. I will tell you that this book scared the heck out of me! It didn’t help that I was reading it at night and way past my bedtime, bad idea, had trouble falling asleep!

At any rate the story is told from three different points of view. Flora Dane is a survivor, she was held captive (kidnapped, raped and terrorized) for over a year by Jacob Ness, until she herself was able to kill him. She has spent the last 7 years since then trying to help other victims and now is part of this task force which is sent to a small mountain town in the deep woods of Georgia. Skeletal remains have been found and it is possible that these may be linked to Jacob Ness, the man who had held Flora captive.

The other members of the team include detective D.D. Warren and FBI Agent Kimberley Quincey. We are told the story from these three POV’s and Italicized paragraphs in the voice of an unknown person. There are many others who will become a part of the investigative team including Keith, a computer analyst who adds his talents at decoding what will become a tangled web of evil.

This Georgia town’s inhabitants are all potentially involved in what has been going on, particularly the mayor and his wife who own the updated and beautiful Victorian B & B at the town’s center. They basically “run” the town and many of the townspeople are fearful of saying anything against them.

It isn’t long before more skeletons are found and more forensic teams are called in. All the while the on scene teams split into two teams, one to interrogate inhabitants of the town and the others to use an ATV to canvas the area where the skeletal remains have been found.

This isn’t a slow burn of a mystery, it becomes a thriller quite quickly and the tension just keeps on building. It is very difficult with a thriller so multi-layered to say much more without giving away any part of the plot. It would be best to just start reading and let the story drawn you in, and it will I promise you.

There are, of course, some believability issues with how many people can be evil in one small town, but that is the nature of the genre and I was willing to just go along for the ride. I really enjoyed the strong female characters in this novel, all of whom have had their own personal struggles.

I highly recommend this book to readers of the D.D.Warren series but anyone can pick up this novel and read it on it’s own merit.

I received an ARC of this novel through NetGalley. This book is set to publish on January 28, 2020.

Will post to Amazon upon publication

Lisa Gardner’s latest book in the D.D. Warren/Flora Dane series is another incredible page-turner. I love these characters, and the story takes place in the creepiest of settings as the story continues.... although you can read this as a stand-alone book, I’d recommend reading all of her books because they are just that good.

This is one of those series that the emotional back story is difficult to read but you read it knowing that out of the painful back story came a heroine. Flora was captured and held as a sex slave and now is considered a vigilante, criminal informant and now girl friend.

This particular book takes her and FBI task force back to a place she's been looking for. But it takes her there as part of the task force because she is considered an expert on her abductor, and because of that and the fact they they have found the remains of another victim, she has a very important part here as well.

Read this book to follow the very difficult tasks ahead of this group as they try to find the answers to many more than just one body.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the word equivalent of a Venn diagram - Lisa Gardner's trifecta of ass-kicking women ALL in one book. Flora, D.D. & Kimberly all work seamlessly together and the story is amazing. Another guaranteed book hangover from Ms Gardner! (And I mean that in the best possible way)

I have read other Gardner novels and DD Warren in the series (not the entire series) but this one felt different. It took quite awhile to catch up with the main characters and who everyone was. I felt like I should have gone back to reread #10 so I could get caught up ....

There are three very strong characters that collide in a murder investigation in Georgia. Detective DD Warren, FBI agent Kimberly Quincy and former kidnap victim Flora Dane.

While Quincy and Warren hunt down the latest serial killer, Flora must face her evil past with Jacob Ness.- her former kidnapper. What they all find is so disturbing in this charismatic small town that will turn your stomach and keep you up at night.

This book has more surprises and twists that I could imagine. It had the viewpoint of a young girl that we later understand and connect with deeply. Kudos to Gardner for once again holding suspense til the very end.

Is it possible to write a book about 3 strong, kick ass female protagonists and give each of them depth and growth in one book?
Yes it is if you are Lisa Gardener.

Detective D.D, FBI agent Kimberley Quincy and Survivor Flora Dane are together in this book looking for more answers about Jacob Ness but what they stumble into is bigger then they could have expected.

Have you ever loved a book so much that you aren’t sure you can convey how much...this was that book the mystery completely had me hooked and I spent the whole book trying to figure it and I love that it completely got me!

I’ve just finished this latest Lisa Gardner book and like all the rest of her thrillers it was great reading. I love her D D Warren series and this time she brought along a favorite character of mine, Flora Dane. This book felt almost like an isolated island mystery as it takes place around a popular hotel. The worst thing about this book is not reading it.

Wow!!! This is an excellent book. This was a fast read, as I couldn't put it down. This book had three former female characters along with a new character that was equally interesting. BRAVO!

Loved it! Another great book with these beloved characters, and a creepy setting where everyone's a suspect. It's nice to see Flora continue to grow, and I loved the ending of this one. More, please!

I loved this book, although I don't like differing points of view. It worked pretty well for me, but like I said....
I will give a more complete review when the book is published in January.

Although I think When You See Me would have benefited from just one less "heroine" and POV, it's still a tense and well-written mystery from the reigning Queen of Suspense, Lisa Gardner.

Told from the perspectives of FBI Agent Kimberley Quincy, investigator D.D. Warren, and survivor Flora Dane, this book also presents italicized portions from an unknown girl, living in terror since the brutal murder of her mother. I don't mind books that flip between different narrators, but I often confused Kimberley and D.D's voices, which led to me paging back on my Kindle, trying to figure out whose head I was supposed to be in. It's a minor quibble, but nonetheless - I think this would have been tighter and more engrossing had we spent longer with each perspective.

When You See Me picks up from the last D.D. Warren/Flora Dane thriller, and continues the quest to track down the movements of deceased serial killer Jacob Ness (who kidnapped, raped and terrorized Flora for over a year). When a skeleton turns up in a remote wooded area of Georgia, Quincy, D.D., Flora and Keith (Flora's would-be boyfriend and techie expert), join a task force to ask one question: have they found a vital clue in the Jacob Ness mystery?

Soon, it's clear that more than just Ness is rotten in Georgia, when the detectives encounter a creepy town unwilling to give up its secrets, a B&B haunted by a monster from hell, and a young girl, anxious to speak her truths, without a voice with which to do that with. Once these elements come into the fray, the action really picks up -there's a wonderfully atmospheric sequence toward the end that *made* the book for me as well.

My other criticism is that I wasn't entirely clear on the motivations behind the crimes. Or what the crimes were exactly. It seemed unnecessarily vague. I did love Flora's journey (three cheers to thriving), D.D.'s endless pursuit of justice, and the eerie glimpses into Jacob Ness' past. There are so many layers to that story that Gardner keeps unpacking - it's really riveting.

Any Gardner fan should pick this one up when it's released in January 2020. If you haven't read Flora's story from the beginning, I would recommend beginning with Find Her, which is a stunning introduction to Flora and a twisty, unputdownable thriller in its own right.

Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin Dutton for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. Much appreciated!

I was so happy to see Gardner unite my three favorite characters: D. D. Warren, Flora Dane, and Kimberly Quincy in her latest thriller. I knew I was in for a great read., but it exceeded all expectations.

When a skeleton is found in a shallow grave in the Georgia mountains, a task force is formed to see if the death was the work of serial killer Jacob Ness. When more graves turn up and someone starts killing townspeople, they realize that something sinister and deadly has taken control of the area.

Gardner keeps her readers compulsively turning pages. But she also delivers much more. All of her characters are fully formed, and she delves into their interior lives in a way that makes them leap off the page and become part of the reader’s circle of friends. Highly recommended.

I love the entire DD Warren/Flora Dane series, and this did NOT disappoint. I devoured this in a sitting, and I think it may be Gardner’s creepiest book to date (which is saying something, as she is the queen of writing thrillers).

I loved that three strong women headed this investigation. Normally Lisa Gardner books don’t scare me, but portions of this suspense novel really had me on edge. The parts that really scared the bejesus out of me were the italicized chapters told from the point of view of a young girl, who, at first, we don’t understand what she’s doing telling her story.

FBI agent Kimberly Quincy and Boston police officer D.D. Warren think they are tracking something to do with the dead rapist Jacob Ness. They bring a woman he kept as a slave for more than a year, Flora. Flora brings her buddy, a computer genius. What these women find is much more disturbing and widespread than they ever imagined.

Gardner wrote more than once that either Quincy or Warren had “prickly feelings at the back of her neck.” That’s an unfortunate oversite in the editorial process. There were a few sections that suspension of disbelief was needed, but all in all, this is a fast-paced page turner.

Thanks so much to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book, which RELEASES JANUARY 28, 2020.

I was so excited to receive this ARC I scheduled a day off of work lol....I am a huge Lisa Gardner fan, and When You See Me did not disappoint!
Back in the world of serial killer Jacob Ness, Flora Dane, DD Warren, and Kimberly Quincy. Is this where we find out the origin of Jacob and his crime? Or is this a whole other mess going on? Anything is possible in the small Georgia town rich with questionable characters and wooded terrain.

Another amazing book in the Flora/DD/Kimberly series. I absolutely love the characters, settings and dialogue with Lisa Gardner';s books and this one did not disappoint. I absolutely loved the ending and cannot wait to read the next one to see how the "new" character ties in. Amazing book! Thank you for the advanced copy.
