This started off a little slow but I still really liked it. It is told by multiple characters, There is some really good twists that I didnt see coming. It certainly makes you get hooked into the storyline. I liked the short chapters. This book had me guessing right up to the very end.

I just finished reading Framed. This was an all round thriller and police procedural book that nicely tied up at the end. I thought I had the story figured out but there were twists aplenty and I was kept riveted as I read on.

Music teacher Beth is married to film producer, Jay. Beth's old college friend Cassie comes to stay with them but unbeknown to them, Cassie is wanted by the police in connection with a homicide and a botched drug deal. Will Cassie be caught? How will Beth and Jay explain her staying with them when the police come questioning?

I highly recommend picking up this book if you get the chance!

There are three main characters in Framed; husband and wife Jay and Beth, a wannabe film producer and his piano-teaching wife, and Cassie, an old college roommate of Beth’s who turns up unexpectedly at their Hollywood home. Cassie’s not just there to catch up, though, she’s in hiding, and cracks in Jay and Beth’s fragile marriage are soon exposed by Cassie’s presence.

There are twists and turns here I genuinely didn’t see coming, especially one right at the end of the book which had me shaking my head and full of admiration for the author’s cleverness. Even knowing I was dealing with at least one unreliable narrator by that point, I still made an incorrect assumption based on incomplete information because the author had led me in that direction.

I would say that the book starts off a little slow. Beth and Jay lead pretty boring lives, and things don’t really get going until Cassie crashes the party, a catalyst shaking everything up and setting an inevitable chain of events in motion. Stick with it through the slow start and your patience will be well rewarded. Five stars for an intriguing psychological thriller.

This story follows Beth a music teacher and her film producer husband who have a seemingly perfect life living in LA. Then out of no where Beth receives a strange call from a man asking for Cassie, Beth’s old friend from college who she hasn’t spoken to for years who then a couple of days later turns up unexpectedly.

This to me was quite a slow burn thriller whereas I generally prefer them a bit faster paced. I enjoyed the multiple character storyline albeit I did find it a bit hard to keep up with who was who at the start.

Overall I found this to be an easy read and the story flowed well with plenty of twists and turns that kept me guessing right up to the very end. A great debut from S L McInnes.

I want to thank Netgalley and Hachette Australia for providing me with this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a slow burn. I prefer a much more fast paced thriller. It took a while for the real excitement to start but it had some good twists at the end. I guess one of them but not the other. It had a well wrapped up ending that didn't feel rushed.

I really enjoyed the multiple perspective storyline and short chapters. The story gave me gone girl vibes.

There were a few things that it lost me on. Cassie and the way she acted/was written made me uncomfortable when I read it and it at certain points almost ruined the book. There were certain topics that were added into the story that were not really necessary to the story i.e miscarriage.

Overall I would have preferred more grit and less explanation about Beth's past.

Beth Montgomery seems to have the perfect life: a beautiful house in the hills above Los Angeles, a handsome, ambitious husband, and plans of starting a family.
When the news breaks of a quadruple homicide across town, a botched drug deal that leaves an undercover officer among the dead Beth certainly would never think to tie the murders to the sudden reappearance in her life of wild, sexy Cassie Ogilvy, the estranged best friend she hasn't seen since they were college roommates.

The story unfolds over three days and we learn quickly that everyone has something to hide. I loved to hate Jay and wanted to shake Beth for the way he speaks and treats her. And the way she let Cassie treat her. I was a little disappointed the big "you owe me" secret didn't amount to much but I did enjoy the plot twist at the end, McInnis's debut is a solid fast-paced thriller well written and a definite must read..

This was such a good story - I didn't want to put it down! I liked how each chapter was from the perspective of one of the main characters, and how they were a mix of past and present. There's lots of twists & turns right down to the last chapter, so you keep guessing & guessing about what happens. Can't wait to read more by this author!

This turned into a really good read, I wasn’t sure at the start but it soon had me hooked and turning the pages to race to the unexpected finish.
Beth and Jay live in LA, Jay a struggling movie producer and Beth a piano teacher. Into their lives comes Cassie, oozing sex appeal and secrets. Cassie and Beth were room mates at college and while Beth was the quiet studious one, Cassie was wild, into sex drugs and rock and roll. But both girls have secrets and Cassie’s could get them killed.
