Omg. KL Slater is fast becoming one of my favourite authors! I have just finished this blockbuster psychological thriller. If you pick this up I guarantee you will not be able to put it down.

5 Stars for Single by KL Slater. Y'all, I was trying to figure out just how many characters were legit crazy in this one. It was a great read and I had the hardest time trying to figure out who was lying and who was telling the truth and then BAM, BAM, BAM KL Slater threw in one twist after another.

Darcy lost her kids after her husband passed away. It broke her psychologically and her in-laws obtained custody of them while she recovered and got her life back on track. Once she was able to get her two boys back, she continued to have a very close relationship with her in-laws. That is, until a handsome doctor saved one of their lives in the park. Then, things started to get very interesting and multiple threads begin to unravel, leaving the reader wondering if Darcy has been lying to herself the entire time. Is this new guy is going to save Darcy and make all of her dreams come true? Are all of the people in Darcy's life are out to get her? Is she having another psychological break?

I wasn't sure what to believe until the last 30 pages of this ride, and I was shocked that Darcy was wrong about a lot of things. But, she was also right about a lot of things, too. Do we believe what we want to believe? At what cost? Is everyone out to get Darcy? Well, I guess you'll have to read to find out.

Enjoyable read. Very well written. Plenty of suspense throughout to keep me gripped. Would definitely read another by this author. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

Single is a twisty psychological thriller where you don’t know whether you’re coming or going in relation to who to trust. It’s not particularly scary, and it would be a good introduction to this genre if you’ve not tried anything like it before. KL Slater is a tried and trusted author in this sector for me!

However I did find the ending a bit rushed, and not entirely plausible, and the plot in the last 10% had more than a few holes in it for me. However it wouldn’t put me off recommending it to others - but if you analyse your books a little it may be slightly annoying! A good read on the whole that kept me entertained and guessing.

This is another amazing thriller by this author. I couldn’t put it down so well written with jaw dropping twists & turns I’d highly recommend this to anyone.

This is my first K.L Slater book, and I honestly did not expect that it will be this good. I enjoyed the story because it kept me guessing and wondering about what is going on until the last few chapters. That is why I am giving it a solid 4 stars.
The story follows Darcy, a young widow with 2 kids. After Darcy's husband died, she had a hard time coping that made her in-laws intervene. Until Darcy met George and fell in love with him fast. Like most of all relationships, theirs started great until complications came because of their pasts.
The story has a well-developed plot. What I like about it is that the reactions of the characters are quite realistic though sometimes the dialogues are too dramatic for my taste. Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading it cause I get to hate some characters and root for another.

It has been a while since I read K.L. Slater and now I kind of remember why. I had a hard time getting into this book. I never got into the characters and the thriller part just didn’t thrill.

I enjoyed the children the most. And I enjoyed the scenery of the area… And of course the house. Wow!

I didn’t find the ending surprising. There were parts that kept me involved which is why I put the rating as 3. I can imagine there are people who will enjoy it but it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Darcy Hilton is a single mother with two sons, who has had some struggles with mental health issues. After the death of Joel, the boy's father, four years ago she had to give up custody of Harrison and Kane to their grandparents briefly, but since then she has been working hard to care for her boys. When Kane has an asthma attack at the park and Darcy can't find the inhaler she put in Kane's bag, a handsome doctor, George Mortimer, comes to the rescue. George happens to also be a single parent who was at the park with his daughter, Romy. Darcy drops a thank you note (with her name and contact information included) off at the hospital for George. He contacts her and the two begin to see each other.

Darcy's sister-in-law, Steph, and her in-laws basically run Darcy's life. They are on a constant vigilant watch for any sign of her not caring for the boys as they see fit. They have made it clear that they don't think she is ready to date anyone. Darcy keeps her burgeoning relationship with George a secret, but soon she lets everyone know she's seeing him and their relationship is serious. In turn, they all begin to plot against her to take the boys away from her.

Well, this is a whole collection of dislikeable people behaving badly. I'm not saying you won't be glued to the pages, but there really isn't one character to like or trust, including Darcy. (Okay, the children are exempt from this.) Darcy continually makes bad choices - as does every other person in the novel. But, since you can't trust anything anyone says here, so you have to keep reading to see what happens and the truth behind everything.

The writing is good and keeps your attention. It's a fast paced plot with many new twists added along the way. The ending is a bit over the top, but in an enjoyable way since you will know at that point that the whole situation all the characters are in is unbelievable. It is sort of a morality tale about what could happen if you let other people determine the course of your life and if you jump into relationships too quickly.

After they get together and George invites her to move in Darcy learns that George has a stalker ex girlfriend who will not leave him alone. As the two get closer everything becomes more crazier and Darcy doesn't know who to believe because George has some secrets and she doesn't know what the real truth is.

Darcy is so very grateful that a stranger came rushing to her aid when her son had an asthma attack. The stranger, who she soon learns is named George, is an esteemed doctor. Meanwhile Darcy's life is not going that great. She eventually begins spending time with George and he ultimately invites her and her son to move in with him and his young daughter.

Beyond her attraction to George, this invitation is a true blessing. For starters, Darcy had a tough past after she lost her husband, even allowing her in-laws to take custody of her son for a while. Although she is now taking full care of her son, the boy spends a lot of time with his grandparents and his aunt.

Meanwhile both Darcy and George are hiding dark pasts and secrets. In both cases, their pasts are front and center, and bringing danger too close and too often. Not only does Darcy have to look over her shoulder. she must now wonder whether or not she can trust George. What is more is that there is something rather sinister going on with her in-laws.

Will all of these things threaten Darcy's future? Will she and her son come away unscathed from people who do not have their best interests at heart? For a thrilling read, as in the case with the other K.L. Slater stories I have had the privilege of reading, do not hesitate to pick up your copy of Single. You will not be disappointed.

A good read, lots of characters, lots of different perspectives. This works well in making it hard to know who to trust and believe. Some great twists, and a gripping read from the off.

This book tells us Darcy’s story, a widow, with two sons (Harrison and Kane).
The book opens with Darcy handing over custody of her kids to her husband’s (Joel’s) parents, Brenda and Leonard. We understand that she was unable to cope with the grief of Joel’s death and required professional help to get over the same.

Three years later, she’s back and totally ready to deal with whatever life throws at her. As long as she has her children with her.
Her life is under constant scrutiny from her in-laws, as well as Joel’s sister, Stephanie. To the point where they just seem interfering and dominating. However, she continues accepting help from them due to her sons – but inwardly she despises the control they brandish over her life.

Whilst at the park with her kids one day, Kane suffers a severe asthmatic attack. She would have lost him, had it not been for Dr George Mortimer, the handsome, suave and charming urologist (who happened to be in the park with his daughter, Romy) that managed to save Kane. Darcy falls for him – and oh-so how!
A simple thank-you note and coffee, leads to a whirlwind of a romance. Both Darcy and George are smitten, and it’s just about time to take that one step forward.
At the same time, Darcy has to deal with potential housing issues, considering a new buyer is looking to take over the property she has rented. So, when George suggests she moves in with him, could life have gotten any better?

Of course, their relationship is not approved of by Darcy's in-laws or Steph. But nothing deters Darcy.
And there are two people from both of their respective pasts who they need to watch out for: Opal Vardy, George’s ex-girlfriend and Daniela Frost, a woman who had been involved with Darcy’s late-husband, Joel.

Once she starts seeing George, Darcy realises she’s being stalked! By whom? And why? What could be their motive?
Told from the view-point of various people, this story will mess with your head. It will leave you wondering who is lying and who is telling the truth.
The twists were good – though one of them was predictable.
The climax was a bit melodramatic for me.

However, this is one good read.
And I would totally recommend it to everyone.

A brilliantly written thriller with a few jaw dropping moments. This is a compelling read. The twists and the shocks make it a rollercoaster ride.

This book was a wonderful psychological thriller full of twists and turns. A chance meeting. A chance at love for both of them. Or so it seems.
There is a saying, “What a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.” Deception is a thin thread that is very delicate and grows thinner with the weight of each lie, each interference and each attempt to control. The author draws you in and with the character’s back stories, but is it really their own? Are we all just pawns in someone else’s game?
Your past can come back to haunt you. Not everyone has your best interest at heart. Who do you trust and for how long?
Strap yourself in for a wild ride on this rollercoaster of deception and betrayal.
You won’t want to put this book down.

The struggle to finish this was real…this novel just wasn't for me. The plot for Single grabbed my attention and sounded like an exciting thriller with a mysterious twist ending. As soon as I started reading, I realized I was not going to like any of the characters. Every character has past secrets and/or is plotting revenge against another character in the story. This might seem exciting but I just didn't' like any of them enough to care about what happened to them. There seemed to be a lot of stalking (multiple characters), revenge plotting, and characters who aren't what they appear to be...again this should be exciting but it wasn't. I found Darcy's character to be needy, neglectful, weak, and dramatic among other things...so much drama. There is also a seemingly random side plot that gets thrown in throughout the story...yes it ties in and is revealed later. It’s possible that I have read so many thrillers that my expectations are too high but most of the time they all seem to blend together. There was nothing new or unexpected about this novel that hasn't already been done and I actually found myself dosing off through most of it. There were several times that I just didn’t want to pick it back up and continue reading. That being said, many readers appear to have enjoyed this novel from its rating and the author has good ratings with her other books as well, so some readers may really enjoy this one…just not me.

Once again KL Slater has written an excellent psychological thriller. This book is full of suspense and intrigue and once I started reading it I didn't want to stop. A great read.

Being a HUGE fan of suspense writer K.L. Slater, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on her latest novel.

Darcy has three children, and is raising them with the assistance of their late father’s immediate family. One day at the park, she meets a doctor named George, who saves her son’s life after an asthma attack. Darcy quickly falls for George and his daughter, and thinks her life is finally looking up. What she doesn’t know is that there is someone out there watching them, someone who wants to make sure George pays for something.

This was a great read that had genuine moments of suspense. While the pace is a little slow at first and seems like it will be a predictable story, the last 25% really amps up as revelations and twists occur, all that I never saw coming. Slater is a master storyteller when it comes to writing multiple characters, making them feel fleshed out, and coming up with some seriously unexpected twists. Every time I finish one of her novels, I feel let down that I have to wait for the next one.

Kim Slater is easily one of my favorite psychological thriller writers and every time I discover a new title is coming out I get that feeling of Christmas having come early. Single is already the tenth Slater book I've had the chance to read and while I might be a bit biased when it comes to her books, there is no doubt that it was another winner for me. Brace yourselves for the superlatives and the catchy and cliche one liners, because there will most likely be fangirling involved while I describe my experience with this newest story.

You know all those catchy one liners they always try to sell thrillers with? I mean the 'hooked me from the very first chapter', 'had me on the edge of my seat', 'grabbed me from the beginning', 'gripping thriller with an explosive twist' and similar comments? Guess what: they all most definitely apply when it comes to my reading experience with Single. It was hook, line and sinker (oh, here's another one!) as soon as I opened my copy of Single and read the first few pages. Kim Slater has a way of tempting you and drawing you right in with a combination of an engaging writing style and a compelling plot. Her psychological thrillers always tend to open with a bang, giving you a little glimpse of what is yet to come and the first few chapters will always leave you fully enchanted and impatient to discover how things would develop for the main characters. You should definitely try to clear your schedule before starting Single, because once you read that first page it will be really hard to let go!

Part of the reason that Single is such a gripping psychological thriller has to do with the plot. Cleverly constructed and developed, the plot slowly evolves as things are starting to get out of control. The fact that we don't know for sure who is behind these escalations for a long time definitely adds a healthy dose of suspense to the story. Secrets and lies are combined with a series of plot twists that change the direction of the story and will leave you with your mouth hanging wide open. Especially towards the end Single starts feeling like a war zone with all those plot twist bombs being thrown at you... And trust me, at least one or two will completely blow you away. I always love it when a story manages to surprise me and while sadly it doesn't happen all that often anymore, Single managed to do exactly that.

As for the characters... While I did have mixed feelings about most characters, their development and description is realistic and thorough. Flaws, mistakes, secrets and also the mental health issues make the characters feel truly lifelike and especially Darcy was fascinating to follow. Nothing is as it seems and my best advice would be not to trust anyone, as it seems that every single character is hiding something... Single is unreliable narrator at its best, where you can still connect to the main characters but are also led astray and misleaded without you even realizing it straight away. There are two different 'threats' in Single, and both make for very interesting storylines you will have a great time unpicking the truth about.

If you enjoy reading a well written psychological thriller filled to the brim with secrets, lies and plot twists that will manage to deceive you as well as an ending that will leave you glabbergasted, Single is without doubt an excellent choice. In fact, I can recommend Kim Slater's psychological thrillers in general if you enjoy the genre!
