Having first heard about Colin O'Brady's epic adventure on a podcast interview he did, I was excited to learn even more about him and his motivation from The Impossible First. From start to finish, his story is awe-inspiring, full of adventure. love, and the commitment to reaching for goals, no matter how crazy hard and unattainable they may be. To top it all off is the love story behind the adventure, the support of his wife, the love they share. This is a story that will give you all the feels and motivate you to achieve something great as well.

Thank you Net Galley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Back in December 2018, I stumbled across a really interesting Instagram account.  Some guy was attempting to cross Antarctica on foot, unsupported and unassisted.  I'm a sucker for adventure and exploration, so I was immediately hooked.  I wondered, "Who IS this guy?!"  Months later, I saw that NetGalley had a book for review from the very same Colin O'Brady and I knew I had to have it.

In short, Colin's story (and this book) are nothing short of inspiring and amazing.  I loved reading about his constant quest for adventure and his relationship with Jenna.  I absolutely devoured this book.  The writing was great and I really enjoyed how he mixed telling about his current adventure with his previous ones.  I flew through this book in under a week.  Just one more chapter before bed!  I just think Colin is a truly fascinating guy. and I cannot wait to see what he does next.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

A thrilling adventure a book that drew me in ,I was in awe shock at the adventure the author and his wife who was not there but was his support system. The whole time I read the book from the safety of my reading chair I was in awe of Colin O’Brady and his spirit. The moment he almost lost his tent his gripping it with his frozen exhausted hand the dire results if he lost left me breathless.A fantastic read a young man to admire highly recommend this book.#netgalley#scribner

The Impossible First was a wonderful vicarious read for this at best recreational athlete, detailing Colin O’Brady’s attempt to cross Antarctica unaided and unsupplied (except for what he pulled in his sled). His dispatches are interspersed with personal stories and how they shaped his views, and they were done well. His writing is sharp and wry, as well as engaging and funny. Descriptions of the cold and treacherous weather and terrain were vivid and you truly felt the stakes of what he was doing, along with admiration for how he pushed himself. Almost equally a character in the book was his wife, Jenna, and her critical role in his success was also highlighted throughout. A great read and highly recommended.
