I was first introduced to Debra Sennefelder via book three in her Food Blogger Mysteries and enjoyed it, so I wanted to give her Resale Boutique Mysteries a read. The first one in the series, Murder Wears a Little Black Dress, was really good. So when I saw she had book two, Silenced in Sequins, coming out I jumped on the chance to read it, and it’s as good as the first one!

I don’t watch reality TV, but I can see the appeal, to be able to watch other people with lives crazier than yours can make you appreciate what you have. And getting a glimpse into rich people’s parties and homes is always appealing. Robin Leach took us on tours of the rich and famous years before reality TV became so popular. Even with not watching reality TV, Silenced in Sequins, was still a blast. And the way Sennefelder weaved in the deal that Kelly made with the TV star, Wendy, was the perfect set-up to make sure Kelly’s business continues to thrive in future books.

Besides the main mystery, there is a smaller mystery that involves Kelly’s grandma and a trip to Vegas. I was very pleased with how it turned out because I wasn’t looking forward to this dragging on in future books.

And talking about a thing that often drags on in Cozy Mysteries… the romance aspect is still being handled well in the Resale Boutique Mysteries. It’s progressing a bit, with a giant monkey wrench being thrown in for good measure. I think it’s excellent how Sennefelder was able to combine the usual lead detective’s annoyance with the amateur sleuth into the romance storyline.

Although I knew the murderer early on, I didn’t know what the motive was until the end. And Sennefelder gives you enough suspects that could make guessing the killer difficult. I hope to see some of the suspects as recurring characters in future books. I could see Wendy becoming more friendly, and having her as a friend could mean more outrageous parties for Kelly and her friends.

As with book one, Silenced in Sequins, adds just the right amount of details on clothes and accessories. This is a Fashion Cozy after all! Although I’m not much into fashion it was still enjoyable reading about the different outfits and the way Sennefelder described them made it easy for me to picture them.

I’m looking forward to what mystery Kelly finds herself solving next, and highly recommend this series.

"Silence in Sequins" is a Cozy Mystery Genre Novel under Resale Boutique Mystery Series. It was a cosy reading since I didn't feel any rush of finishing it. It was a light crime investigation where I can take my own pace reading it. It intrigues me in a way of wondering who was the murderer and at all time it keeps my mind eliminating the list of suspects. It's quite fun reading it. I like the book.

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Books.

Kelly is still determined to make her inheritance, the Lucky Cove Resale Boutique, her grandmother's store, a success. With Black Friday coming up she is giving it her all to turn a profit. And when one of the Long Island Ladies (Reality Show) Wendy, stops by to consign some of her designer duds.

Unbeknownst to Kelly, her shop assistant sold one of the gowns to another LIL! The diva Diana Delacourt. You just know with a name like that she is going to be a diva. But when Diana shows up at an event wearing the dress, Wendy humiliates her and Diana runs out.

The next morning Kelly stops by to check on her only to find her lying in the snow dead. With Wendy being the prime suspect, she demands that Kelly help clear her name or Kelly's step-mother may not get the open slot on the show.

Although she's been warned by police to stay out of this, she isn't going to do that. No, she's going to go digging around and putting a big old target on her own back!

Debra Sennefelder is one of my favorite authors. This one is perfect to kick off the new year!

I really enjoy cozy mystery books, but sometimes a book just doesn't grab you. Sadly, this one didn't grab me, and I didn't finish it. I'm sure those readers who watch shows like Housewives of (whatever city) and fashion will love it though! The characters are fun, but I just couldn't connect with the plot or the setting. The descriptive language definitely helped me picture the scenes, and I know if I enjoyed the fashion scene, I'd have wanted to finish it. However, I have so many books to read, I just couldn't. I got to 43%.

Debra Sennefelder's Silenced in Sequins is a fine cozy mystery for an afternoon read. The mystery is solid, with the main character, Kelly, working to maintain her boutique and find out if her beloved Granny was really married or not... all whilst trying to stay away from Detective Wolfram as she attempts to solve the mystery. I didn't read the first installment in this series, but that didn't matter as the author did a great job alluding to the first book and Kelly's previous detecting exploits.

High fashion and TV meets resale boutique, family issues, and murder in a high rent area of Long Island. If any of these things trip your trigger you'll love this well written cozy. Plenty of plot twists and red herrings to prove keep interest.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I am not usually a fan of fashion/consignment cozies but this one really grabbed me.
I found the characters entertaining and the whodunit kept me enthralled and guessing.
I look forward to reading the next in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of the book.

I wanted to like this story much more than I did. I love a good cozy mystery but for some reason this one just didn't really hold my attention as much as I would have like. There's a good cast of characters and an intriguing story line but I found myself getting bored a couple of times and I just wasn't invested in the story. This could have been because I'm not really into fashion or reality tv, of which the story featured quite a bit, or because I hadn't read book one but either way it just wasn't a great read for me.

Kelly is going all out to promote her resale boutique. She has a few new upscale clients from a reality series (Think Real Housewives) that have sold and purchased through her. Things seem to be going well until a massive blow up regarding a dress that was purchased at her boutique Which mends in a murder.

Kelly is asked by the prime suspect to help clear her name. Kelly is a little hesitant to help because of some previous run ins which almost killed her. Can she find out who the real killer is without putting herself in jeopardy??

I enjoyed this retail boutique mystery and can’t wait for the next one!!

I like Kelly Quinn and the setting of Lucky Cove, and especially love hearing about all of the clothes that she has in her resale boutique. I wish that there was a store like that where I live! I love how Kelly, Pepper and Breena work together and how they cover for Kelly when she is out trying to talk to people about the murder. The mystery had so many possible motives and suspects that I was definitely left guessing who the killer was and why. I also liked that this book was set between Thanksgiving and Christmas which would be a busy time for her boutique, and would be a time when she would get a lot of consignments, and have a lot of new customers. This series is great so far, and I am looking forward to more books in this series.

I received a complimentary copy of this ebook from Kensington through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

4.5 Stars

This is the second book in the Resale Boutique mystery series by Debra Sennefelder.

This was quite a fun ride. Realty TV meets consignment shopping at its best!

Kelly Quinn lost her job as a fashion buyer and is now making a go of the consignment shop her grandmother left to her in her will. During a Black Friday advertising blitz she comes onto the radar of some warring tv divas on a popular reality show about Long Island Ladies and their drama, squabbles and one-up-manship. One of the “ladies” consigns a few garments with her shop and another “lady” from the same show buys it and then ends up dead wearing said garment.

This book does give you a bit of stress when reading it. Having these tv divas verbally spewing forth toward Kelly was a bit disconcerting. That shows great character building when you want to punch out a character for getting into the protagonist’s face once too often. The setting was just as fascinating as the characters. I am definitely going to look into the previous book in this series and catch up on the complete backstory. I foresee more Resale Boutique books in my future TBR stack!

If you love a good cozy mystery, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

I enjoyed the first in this series, Murder Wears a Little Black Dress and was looking forward to Silenced in Sequins. It was worth the wait, no sophomore slump for this series. Kelly is back along with Pepper and Breena, running the Lucky Cove Resale Boutique. Taking over the business from her grandmother has been a challenge but Kelly is feeling better about her sales when she finds herself holding an honest to goodness Gucci evening dress complete with the 'Made in Italy' label. Things get even better when it sells. Because of the rich residents of the area her hope is that more of the ladies closets will produce more goodies for her to sell. Too bad this particular dress creates big trouble.
There is a reality show called Long Island Ladies and one of the stars was the original owner of the Gucci dress. When another of the show's stars shows up at a party wearing the dress, the fur starts to fly in a very public cat fight. The setting of the dust up is the holiday party hosted by Kelly's Uncle Ralph and his wife, Summer. Kelly needs to patch things up fast before any damage can be done to her reputation. Too late - she stumbles upon the woman who bought the dress, very cold, very dead. Kelly is asked by the original owner of the dress to help clear her of suspicion of murder. Will Kelly be able to sort things out before the killer coming after her? The puzzle is perfect and it had me guessing - I guessed wrong. Now I'm ready for the next in the series.
My thanks to the publisher Lyrical Underground and to NetGalley for giving me an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

I have read four of Debra's books so far and I have enjoyed each one of them.

Debra writes mysteries with a touch of quirky humour and this is what makes her stories an enjoyable read.
I have read the first book in this series - Murder wears a black dress - so it wasn't difficult for me to follow through Kelly's story. It is okay if you haven't read book #1 as Silenced in Sequins can be read as a standalone. There might be a reference or two to the previous book but that doesn't spoil the read for a new reader.

I did not see the twists and turns coming! Silenced Sequins is a well-plotted story. The characters are brilliantly portrayed. The ending is unexpected and surprising. This is surely a must-read book of the year.

"Silenced in Sequins" is the story of Kelly, a secondhand boutique owner, who gets mixed up in a murder. Kelly's aunt is auditioning to join "Long Island Ladies", a reality show, when one of the starring ladies is found dead--by Kelly. Kelly then begins her amateur sleuthing, interviewing all the ladies on the show, to figure out who could be connected to the murder. Kelly is still mourning the loss of her beloved grandmother, who she inherited her store from, when she finds some puzzling information about her grandmother's life.

This was my first time reading this author and I enjoyed it. I got a little confused about the characters toward the end, but all in all a good read. I would recommend to fans of cosy mysteries, women's fiction, and those looking for a quick read.

Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

Kelly Quinn has inherited her grandmother's consignment shop and is determined to make it a success. She's thrilled to be given the opportunity to resell some gorgeous designer gowns from popular reality show star, Wendy Johnson. When Wendy's nemesis and co-star, Diana Delacourte buys one of the gowns and wears it to a party, the two reality stars get into a heated argument, and Diana threatens to ruin Kelly's business. Kelly feels really bad about the whole thing and decides to go to Diana's house to apologize. But when she gets there, she finds the woman dead in her yard. Wendy immediately becomes the main suspect and wants Kelly to help prove her innocence. Will Kelly succeed or will she become the killer's next victim?

I thoroughly enjoyed this fast-paced, entertaining second book in the Resale Boutique Mysteries. I haven't read the first book, but I found it very easy to like and relate to Kelly. She acted impulsively at times, but thankfully, she had a wonderful group of friends to talk some sense into her. I enjoyed the author's writing style and found the mystery to be well-plotted. There were plenty of suspects and red herrings to readers on the edge of their seats. I highly recommend this fun, fashion themed cozy mystery.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I always enjoy Debra Sennefelder’s writing. The Resale Boutique Mysteries feature Kelly Quin, a one-time Manhattan fashion buyer who is modernizing her grandmother’s consignment business in Lucky Cove, NY. In Silenced in Sequins, Kelly has procured stunning designer gowns from a well-known reality star. Ironically, a celebrity from the very same reality show purchases one of the dazzling dresses to wear to a fancy Christmas party. But the party is not all holiday joy and cheer. The two reality stars argue bitterly. The next morning, Kelly’s customer is found deceased in the dress and Kelly finds herself in the midst of a very scandalous situation. She vows to catch the killer before her business is dead in the water. Silenced in Sequins is a sassy and fun cozy mystery. The pace is perfect.

Some high fashion, a consignment shop and a bit of reality TV make for fun mystery for a reluctant Nancy Drew to solve.. Was hoping a bit more on the fashion side since it's a consignment shop, but overall I enjoyed it.

Very enjoyable! Really liked the "reality tv" aspect. Fun read. Looking forward to more in the series!

When a socialite turns up dead after a catfight at her uncle's party it's up to Kelly to figure out who the murderer is. The list of suspects is long and studded with reality TV celebrities but when the arrest is made she's sure they got the wrong person. Can she find the truth, save her fledging business and stay alive in the process?
