I would like to thank Netgalley for allowing me to read an e-copy of this graphic novel in exchange for an honest review!

This is a sweet middle grade book featuring a feline named Brina who belongs to a loving couple. Her happy existence is challenged when she meets some wild cats who belong to The Gang of the Wild Son. These cats convince Brina to run away from her human's so she can experience freedom. While living in the wild Brina enjoys her freedom, at first. But, then she begins to understand for herself that living with the other cats isn't more free, and certainly not more loving that her human home.

This is an excellent example of how graphic novels about one subject can effortlessly open conversations with children about more complicated themes. Middle grade students will enjoy the sweet drawings but the more empathetic may be upset at the distress Brina's disappearance causes her human owners. All students and adults can benefit from having a conversation about looking at a person's motivation for their actions and not just their words.

I read this book to my daughter and we absolutely loved it. The artwork was so well done as well as the story, showing how Brina a city cat expands her world, by leaving her owners after a summer holiday in the mountains. She meets feral cats that have a "gang". After some time she sees that this life is not what she wants and starts to miss her owners. She makes the decision of the security and safety of her owners.

Brina the Cat is a book I could see a lot of midgrade readers adoring. This story was quick-paced and the graphics were well done. Honestly, it's worth a read just to look at the illustrations.

The story itself was told well. This book focused on the bond between cats and humans which was a fun aspect to explore. I enjoyed seeing the love between Brina and her owners. Though I enjoyed this book, for the most part, I did feel that it became rushed. I would have loved to have explored a little more of the story. Ultimately, I enjoyed the book and I'm sure any cat-loving midgrade reader will love it.

'Brina the Cat #1: The Gang of the Feline Sun' by Giorgio Salati with art by Christian Cornia is a graphic novel about a city cat who discovers life in the wild.

When Brina moved to the mountains with her owners, there were lots of new things to see and smell. Brina gets away and finds some of the neighborhood cats, but she is found and locked inside her house. Her curiosity leads her to escape again and hang out with the other cats, but what will she find in the outside world? Is it better to be an indoor cat or an outdoor one?

It's a cute story and I think younger readers will like the characters. The art is bright and fun. I liked the different personalities the artist conveys in the cats.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Europe Comics, Papercutz, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

I really enjoyed this graphic novel. Brina is a cat whose owners go on vacation to the mountains. While very wary about letting her wander free, they decide to try it. Brina is chased into a sewer pipe by a dog where she meets the leader of the Gang of the Feline Sun. Brina is convinced to become a "free" cat and join the gang. Brina is very excited for the challenge at first, but after a while she realizes that her owners were actually her family. Will Brina make it back to her family before they leave to go home? Read this delightfully illustrated graphic novel to find out what happens.

I lost track of time over the holiday season and didn't get a chance to review Brina the Cat before it was archived but the illustrations and story are both adorable and I will be looking for the physical book to reread and get the full comic/graphic novel experience. 😻

Normally comic books are not my style (reading style that is) but this last year I started to get into them because my daughter loves them. We really enjoyed this sweet story about Brina the Cat. Overall, we enjoyed the lessons she learned about friendship. Great illustrations! A sweet end to the story! Would read more in the series.

My 9 year old daughter typed:

"I really enjoyed it because of the adventure. I really liked the intro when the dogs landing in the theater. The part when brina tipped the cans of paint onto the dog was very funny. My favorite character was brina because she so adventurous."

This graphic novel is a quick read and, while intended for children, is great for cat lovers of all ages. Sam and Margaret, a young couple, go on vacation in a country village with their cat Brina. Brina meets some stray cats who convince her that true freedom for cats means living without humans. The group, called the Gang of the Feline Sun, initiates Brina with tests that she eagerly accepts as she has thirsted for adventure, But after seeing group leader Vespucci's dictatorial and uncaring ways, Brina realizes that her freedom comes from the love and protection her human owners offer.

The cats are adorable, with expressive faces and bodies, and the humans are thoughtfully drawn as well. Sam and Margaret's desperate search for Brina will resonate with anyone who has lost a pet, and their reunion with Brina brings tears of joy. While the story is great for the action and cuteness, it also presents though-provoking questions about the meaning of freedom.

Brina the Cat #1 is a fun graphic novel written by Giorgio Salati and illustrated by Christian Cornia featuring Brina the Cat's adventures in the countryside on holiday with her humans. Originally released in 2017 in Italy, this English translation, due out 14th Jan 2020 from Papercutz has 88 pages and will be available in hardcover and paperback formats.

This is a short and very sweet story about indoor cats and outdoor cats. Brina meets a gang of cats on vacation including a feral cat with a missing eye and bad attitude. Vespucci wants Brina to give up her pampered home life and run away from her humans and live wild. Her conflict and her interactions with the other cats of the gang of the feline sun makes for a fun adventure.

I'm looking forward to more from this series. Four stars.

This story is for elementary or middle schoolers. Some of the text seemed like it would better fit in a picture book or easy reader. The illustrations were very good and helped tell the story. There was some intriguing emotion and the ending was very neat.

Brina the cat runs away while in the mountains with her humans after being taunted by a stray cat. Brina meets a ragtag group of cats and hangs out with them while her humans panic and try to find her.

Brina the cat longs for adventure and gets it when she joins a gang of feral cats while on vacation. Brina is pressured by the other cats to totally abandon her family. The dynamics of the cat gang show the reader subtle lessons about bullying, peer pressure and choosing your own path. The beautiful artwork conveys the emotions of both the human and feline characters very well. The tightly written story and satisfying ending make Brina a good choice for middle grade readers.

This graphic novel is absolutely darling! The illustrations are bright and eye-catching and will hold your attention. The storyline is precious! Don’t you often wonder what goes through the mind of your little fur baby? Well, this will provide you with a definite possibility. Brina is a city cat. She has always been taken care of and loved by her people. However, one day, her owners decide to take a vacation to the mountains and take Brina along. Now, when at home Brina has all kinds of freedom, but in the mountains, her owners are worried that she may wander off and become lost. For this reason, they limit her ability to roam. Well, this does not set too well with Brina, and with encouragement from some of her roaming peers, she sets off on an adventure of her own. Needless, to say her owners are distraught and miss her terribly. In the end Brina makes a choice to return to her owners and safety. This is a heartwarming story that will make you smile and give you all the “feels”. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for allowing to review this book.

ARC Copy...cute and lovable choice for all cat lovers with both heart and humor. I actually felt very sad when Brina escapes and her owners go looking for her. Wouldn't you be sad if your pet goes missing for a long time?

"There are no cages smaller than the ones we make inside ourselves, my friend."

THIS WAS SO CUTE. I just can't. It's a lovely graphic novel about a cat named Brina who decides she might want to be more adventurous on a family vacation to the mountains. I want to make everyone I know who loves cats read this so they can know what I know. I'll definitely be finding a physical copy of this soon!
