This cookbook had some really great recipes. The recipes were easy to understand and not too complicated for the average cook. I enjoyed the illustrations and look forward to making these recipes for years to come.

THE EVERYTHING HEALTHY MEDITERRANEAN COOKBOOK by Peter Minaki features 300 fresh and simple recipes for better living. The chapters cover setting up a Mediterranean kitchen, plus numerous other sections like soups and stews, beef pork, and lamb, or fish and seafood with 100’s of recipes. From the notes, it seems that this may be an update to an earlier version by Minaki. Nevertheless, the digital preview was difficult to navigate – very few images and little, if any, spacing between recipes. Sometimes, even the ingredients simply ran together, making it difficult to evaluate the recipe (especially given the absence of nutritional information). Perhaps the print version will differ, but based on this preview, readers will likely find a more appealing and easy to use cookbook. 2.5 stars

I'm fairly new to Mediterranean cuisine. I've had a few great meals in restaurants and was eager to to find a cookbook that would be easy to follow. This cookbook is fairly easy to follow. I read the electronic book and there were a couple of issues with the formatting. There could have been a couple of spaces to separate the recopes a little more. Honestly, a lot of the recipes are not what my family would even try. I'm sure there are a lot of people who would get more out of this cook than I did. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion.

This cookbook does have a good selection of recipes, however it was somewhat uninspiring. I think it could use more photos. I think it may have been the formatting of the advance review, but it was difficult to discern where recipes began, making it difficult to review.

This cookbook is genuinely the first Mediterranean cookbook I’ve encountered in a long while that has entirely new rifts on a familiar theme. I’m a huge fan of cooking with walnuts, kale, and white fish and this book did not disappoint - heaps of recipes including my favourite healthful ingredients.. There were so many delicious and simple fish recipes, along with an abundance of vegetarian dishes (try the bulgar stuffed zucchini!). I also appreciated the author’s tips: how to pick the freshest fish at the market, how to clean your slow cooker without destroying it, etc.

I have many Mediterranean diet cookbooks, but am always looking for new recipes. The Everything Healthy Mediterranean Cookbook is exactly that, gives a recipe for any meal, any time of the day. The recipes are for the most part simple and easy to fix. Many use combinations I had not thought of, yet are delicious. Most cookbooks do not have so many wonderful breakfast recipes. Then again who says they can only be for breakfast. In particular, I really liked the frittata and baklava French toast. Breakfast is only the beginning of yummy recipes. Only an extremely picky eater could not find something they liked in this book.

This is a great cookbook for those that would like to try the Mediterranean Diet. It starts with common ingredients needed for Mediterranean cooking. The recipes were easy to follow with good photographs. Most recipes call for common ingredients, although there were some with more unusual ingredients that may not be readily available. I would definitely buy and use this cookbook. It is one of the most comprehensive I have seen.
Thank you to Adams Media and Net Galley for allowing me to preview and offer an honest review.

This cookbook made me want to move to the Mediterranean--anywhere along this sea! The recipes hail from all regions along the coast, from Morocco to Turkey. Unlike many other cookbooks in this genre, this one has simple and unique recipes, many of which can be made ahead or done in a slow cooker. A few examples: Spinach Salad with Apples & Mint, Penne all'Arrabbiata, Beet and Walnut Muffins. I'd really like to purchase this cookbook, because it has recipes I've never seen elsewhere that look very appetizing. My only complaint is that I'd love to see more photos of the dishes, particularly those that are a bit less well known.

The Everything Healthy Mediterranean Cookbook by Peter Minaki is a jam-packed book of essential Mediterranean recipes. This is a practical guide for anyone wanting to learn more about the Mediterranean diet. From tips on how to stock your pantry to traditional beverages, this book has it all.

The layout of the book is very organized and the recipes included are quite simple in nature. It is a perfect cookbook for a novice home chef to add to their collection. There are 300 recipes to choose from covering a variety of topics:

The Mediterranean Kitchen

Breakfast

Appetizers and Dips

Soups and Stews

Salads and Dressings

Pasta and Rice

Vegetable Main Dishes

Beef, Pork, and Lamb

Poultry

Fish and Seafood

Sweets, Desserts, and Beverages

❀ EASY TO SOURCE INGREDIENTS

What is most exciting about this recipe book is the fact that a lot of the ingredients are easy to source. Using common pantry items makes tackling some of the recipes less daunting. Also, the section at the beginning of the book gives tips on what basic items to have in your pantry for a successful Mediterranean diet.

The Greek Village Salad is a simple salad with very few ingredients, however it is really flavourful. Minaki seems to understand how to make the most out of simple ingredients to save time and bring out the flavour of the dish.

❀ A NICE STARTER COOKBOOK

While this book is a huge collection of many different Mediterranean dishes, the simple recipes may not be enough for those looking for a more involved dish. That being said, it is a nice starter for a collection. This is definitely one cookbook to check out if you are looking at trying this style of cooking.

I absolutely love Mediterranean cuisine so this book was a win for me. I found tons of delicious recipes. I did not like the suggestion of serving frozen ice cubes of olive oil with cold soup dishes (gross) but not being Terribly fond of cold soups it may just be me. Overall this cookbook has plenty of healthy recipes right up my alley and honestly its probably the best one on Mediterranean food I've read.

I really love that this book has recipes from several countries not just one specific region. So it covers all the bases to truly capture Mediterranean flavors.

There is something for everyone I honestly gave to say the fruit Stuffed French Toast and the Baked Eggs with Spinach and Cheese are both breakfast nirvana! And that's not even talking about the other delicious recipes in the book.

In love and I plan to use it often. I do wish it had more pictures but otherwise it is a homerun.

I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review.

This was a very comprehensive Mediterranean cookbook. It had a big variety of recipes from breakfasts to deserts with a lot of different ingredients. They were all fairly simple, enough that I didn't feel intimidated by any of them, and included different cooking methods, which is nice. My main complaint was the lack of pictures. Cookbooks need pictures!

I literally...okay, not literally...devoured this book. I received an eARC of this lovely Mediterranean cookbook and sat right down after work and poured over the whole thing. It is terrific. I marked up recipe after recipe and bookmarked pages to go back and make my shopping list to get some of these ingredients to start cooking these wonderful recipes for myself and my family. So many things were appealing, its hard to even know where I want to begin.
The book is divided into an introduction section that gives an overview of what would be typically found in a Mediterranean kitchen as far as the staples, the equipment and the extras. There was also interesting information throughout the book about the Mediterranean diet and some of the history of the ingredients that are common in this style of cooking and their origins. This made the actual reading of the cookbook very enjoyable., aside from imagining each recipe as I read through it.
The other sections are the different types of foods: breakfast, appetizers, dips/sauces, Soups/Stews, Salads, Pastas, Meat/Poultry/Fish/Seafood and Desserts. There was something in every section that sounded great and doable to a family cook with no training other than my female relatives.
My only negative, that keeps me from rating this a 5 star is the limited pictures. For me, a great, over-the-top cookbook has as many photographs as possible. Those that are here are gorgeous and very well done.but also were not clearly labeled (this may have been an early edition problem).
Really well done and highly recommended. I will look for it when it comes out in physical copy.
Thanks for this edition to preview, this is a keeper!

I am always interested in finding more healthy but easy-to-prepare recipes and this cookbook suits that need! I am especially looking forward to trying the Baklava oatmeal, Roasted Red Pepper Dip, and Warm Mushroom Salad.

Mediterranean food is my favorite food group. Lately, I've been trying to eat more of it and nudge my household that way, because: 1) I love it the most; 2) it's usually naturally or easy to make dairy-free and I have an animal dairy allergy; 3) spices are delicious; 4) infla-freaking-mmation, and 5) my body's immune system is being a mean little troll.

So, if I see a Mediterranean book, I'm picking it up right now, and while this wasn't my favorite, it's a good one to pick up to expand your recipe repertoire:

✓s: A big variety of recipes, a large number of recipes, nutritional information, a good organizational system, a decent variety of cooking methods, I'd agree that most of them are simple enough (and I'm lazy)

✘s: So very few pictures (which is a flaw for the Everything series), not that many recipes stood out to me (but maybe I'm jaded or just too distracted by the lack of pictures)

tl;dr: This is a good "big" cookbook for Mediterranean cooking, especially if you're trying to incorporate the diet into your lifestyle and a good resource, but I'm definitely filing it in the "buy for my library and not for me" pile.

Mediterranean food has been especially popular for the last few years due to the fact that it is touted as healthy. Peter Minaki has gathered some of the most healthy of Mediterranean recipes and included them in his excellent cookbook, The Everything Healthy Mediterranean Cookbook: 300 fresh and simple recipes for better living. This cookbook proves that eating healthy can also be delicious. The Mediterranean region includes Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Monaco, Serbia, Slovenia, and Spain, as well as Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria, Tunisia, and Turkey. This cookbook includes recipes from many of those countries. According to the author, “There are regional differences in what constitutes the Mediterranean diet, but all share an essential common trait: a focus on whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and fish.” What more could you want?

The recipes represent a good variety of dishes – there is something for everyone here – including some favorites: one of the best Tzatziki recipes to be served with any number of the Greek dishes, especially the Pork Souvlaki, or alone as a dip with pita, an excellent and easy Penne all’Arrabbiata, and a hearty Giouvarlakia Soup that is perfect for a cold winter night. Sauerkraut Rice makes an excellent side dish and is surprisingly delicious. Tuscan Chicken and Sausage Stew has minimal ingredients and maximum flavor – an easy go-to dish for busy cooks. Minaki’s classic Braciola is not only easy to make, but excellent. His Osso Buco is made in the slow cooker to save time, and has become a favorite.

The book includes an entire section with vegetarian main dishes, and even non-vegetarians will be tempted. However, the chapter that includes Beef, Pork, and Lamb has so many good recipes, that carnivores will have trouble deciding what to make next and will skip the vegetarian choices altogether. Both the Poultry and the fish and seafood chapters are equally appealing, and the queue for trying new dishes from these is getting longer. The chapter on sauces is varied and from numerous countries. And for those who like dessert, the choices are incredible.

It is unfortunate that only some of the recipes are pictured; those photographs included are excellent. The recipes are easy-to-understand and are suitable for most cooks from beginner to advanced. If it weren’t for the lack of photos, this would be the perfect cookbook. Albeit the lack of photographs, this is truly one of the best Mediterranean cookbooks out there. If you only own one Mediterranean cookbook, this should be it.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

The combination of less meat than the average American eats, more fish and other healthy fats as well as lots of beans, fruits and vegetables has definitely garnered some attention for the Mediterranean way of eating. It has been listed in several places that I have seen, as the best plan for a healthy, easy-to-stick-to diet.

There are a lot of things to love about this cookbook. Nutrition information is included for each recipe, so if you are counting calories, this is definitely a nice feature. With 300 recipes, you are bound to find something you like!! From simple dishes to those with some interesting combinations that sound yummy there is so much in this book to choose from.

This is definitely the best Mediterranean cookbook I have come across, and I think it will be a treasured addition for any kitchen .
