Although somewhat predictable, I really enjoyed this book. Amelia might seem meek at first, but she has a sass and spunk in her just waiting for the right opportunities; which Peter provides plenty of.
There are times when Amelia's choices left me irritated, and once or twice when I felt it was a little too unrealistic. But overall I liked her spunk and the way she responded to the situations she was faced with.
I would like to have seen more of her sister's perspective at times, and to have had one of the characters receive more of a comeuppance.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

What a perfectly sweet and fun Regency story!
Amelia and her sister Clara must find a match before their ill step father leaves them completely destitute.
The sisters get invited to a house party where Clara is already smitten with the host, Sir Ronald. Amelia decides its her duty to help her sister secure that match, however, she soon realizes another man, Peter Wood, is trying to secure a match for his sister with Sir Ronald as well.
Amelia’s disdain for Mr. Wood over time turns into friendship and then into more. I enjoyed that there were so many moments of conversation, chemistry, and humor. You could see them falling in love.
Of course, all the twists and turns of this story, make their growing relationship not easy. I typically hate secrets and misunderstandings and was afraid that they would last long and cause all sorts of inconveniences but I was pleasantly surprised with how things got fixed and revealed.
All in all, I enjoyed this story and look forward to more books by this author.

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved it. The writing was beautiful and all I wanted to do was read this until I finished it. I was so excited when I found out about this one because it’s my favorite kind of romance, with a HEA!
The MC were great with lots of angst and chemistry. I laughed out loud many times. Just. So. Romantic. Some of my favorite parts of this book were the games that were played after dinner. It kept a huge smile on my face. It was so much fun. It makes me want to spend a fortnight there.
Like any good book there were characters I loved and characters I hated. I loved Peter and Amelia! They were so much fun to watch and it was nail biting waiting to see how this would play out. I hated Lord Gray, his family and their cruelty to the girls.
**Sigh** I’m sad it’s over and hope the author writes her next one quickly. She’s definitely being added to my favorite authors list!
I highly recommend this book and I’m buying a copy as soon as it’s released.
This was a NETGALLEY gift and all opinions are my own.

"Lakeshire Park" is a wonderful Proper Romance by Megan Walker. While the action takes place during a 2-week house party, the characters' personalities and motivations are descriptive and believable. Peter Wood is a fabulous hero, and Amelia Moore is his worthy foil and a delightful heroine. Their banter is witty, and the literal mudslinging funny.

There are two romances at play here, and a twist near the end nearly ruins both. The secondary characters for the most part are well-drawn. As despicable as the girls' stepfather is, I would have liked to learn more about him.

Megan Walker is a new author for me, and her prose is lovely and flows well. Relating the Regency event of the house party and its accompanying amusements always entertains me. This novel is clean. I look forward to more writings from Ms. Walker.

Thanks to NetGalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing for an ARC of this enjoyable novel.

I had a hard time putting this one down. I like romances because of the happy endings. You know where things will end but the getting there is the fun part. This one had a good storyline, some fun twists and turns, and great characters. Definitely worth reading!

“I want to go to Paris, to learn French, to see the Seine.” With each statement, I tore the letter again and again, until the pieces were small enough to float on the wind. “I want a life full of laughter and scheming and dancing underneath the stars.” ✨

Lakeshire Park is everything you want in a beautifully written romance. I could not put this book down. From the moment you read the first page you feel pulled into the world of Amelia. Her up’s and her down’s feel like an emotional rollercoaster that you are riding together.

The book felt very well researched in terms of historical accuracy of the independence of women. As I was reading, I felt Amelia’s sadness of not being able to create her own life and the overall frustration of being a woman in a man’s world.

I won’t spoil it for you... but I loved the bit of unexpectedness towards the end. This book kept me entranced all the way to the very last word

A 5/5 🌟’s from me. I would highly recommend this book. The publication date is set for April 7th 2020. You won’t want to miss this one!

This was a fun, well-written Regency with memorable characters and a great romance. I felt like the stakes were high and the resolution believable. And I enjoyed the growth of the characters.

I loved this story! i felt so bad for the main characters, trying to help their sisters vy for the same man to make a match. It was hard to figure out which character we wanted to root for to win the match because I fell in love with both the main characters. it was an intriguing read and I can't wait to read it again.

The Proper Romance series does it again. They have delivered another book I couldn’t put down. I love when I come across a book and know it is one I will enjoying rereading again from time to time.
Megan Walker has written a charming regency romance. Stunning setting, witty group of characters and such a delightful enemies to lovers storyline.
I did not want to say goodbye to this group of characters and can only hope she has future books planned out with some of them.
If you are a fan of a regency romances you will love this book!

Amelia Moore and her younger sister Clara are in dire straights. Both parents deceased, they are at the mercy of their very ill stepfather who will leave them penniless and homeless upon his death. When an invitation arrives from Sir Ronald to join a house party at Lakeshire Park, Amelia jumps at the chance to secure her sister's future. But will she find her own happiness along the way?

This was an excellent read. I could not put the book down! It has the enemies to friends aspect and it is amazing to see how the characters develop throughout the story. I definitely cannot wait to see what else Megan Walker has for us!

This book was given to me an an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in an exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

This was such an outstanding book. The Proper Romance collection of books happens to be one of my favorites, and this is a beautiful addition. I can't wait to purchase it once it comes out.

One of my favorite elements (aside from a beautiful plot) was the author's ability to describe scenes in such exquisite detail that I felt as if I was there. The author takes the time to fully flesh out each scene, which results in strong dialog, three-dimensional characters, and vivid settings. This is a story to savor. Read it slowly; drink it in.

Ah! But don't think this is just a sleepy wander through Regency England, because that isn't the case. What we actually have is Exhibit A of my favorite literary theme of all time: haters become lovers. Well, in this case, the hate is one-sided. Unfortunately for them (but fortunately for us), the characters have a little .. hmm .. interaction in a shop that didn't cast our hero in the best light. Luckily the two have an entire story to learn that first impressions are not always an accurate reflection on a person's character. While occasionally self-centered, Peter has such a kind, generous heart - along with some wickedly funny wit. Amelia, on the other hand, is all no-nonsense practicality - with a touch of devilry. I loved watching her character morph from a shell of someone - beaten by life's circumstances - to a woman who believes in love.

While the story extends over a relatively short period of time (one lengthy house party), the love that builds between our two main characters feels real and believable. This is not a Love at First Sight tale- not in the slightest. Peter and Amelia each learn to see the other for who they really are -- and love them for it, rather than in spite of it.

" "Can you feel it?" Immediately his eyes snapped to mine. "What do you mean?" "The music. It's as though the notes are tickling my skin." "

See? Beautiful. Shiver-inducingly beautiful! I am not an emotional reader, but I laughed AND cried during this one. It's just that special.

Added bonus: As with the entire Proper Romance collection, these stories are squeaky clean and appropriate for all ages.

Many thanks to the publisher for granting access to an ARC of this title in exchange for a review.

A cute story but with some loose ends. Some things happened and outside people were drawn in and left hanging with no ending which didn’t seem right, all for a plot to move along.

I was provided with an ARC of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Stunning, stunning, stunning! I stole every spare minute I had to race through this book. I loved the attention to detail, the way in which the reader is given such a vast multitude of moments, and places - events happening. Often in these kind of books, the same thing is occurring every day. It gets tiresome and overdone. This, however has you turning a page, knowing the end result but never knowing how they’ll get there, or what twists will come along the way. The conflict between both Peter & Amelia’s sisters added a great dynamic. So refreshing to have such a bold personality from both of them, and even though there are secrets - there is much that is more openly shared between the two, considering the era. I loved that. It felt fresh and different in all the right places.

This book is going on my bookshelf the minute it’s released. The best regency I’ve read in a long while.

Thanks to Netgalley for the eARC. This is my honest review.

This was such a fun story! I read lots of Regency romances and I loved that this one was a little bit different. The characters were strong and the storyline fun to follow. I was interested from the beginning and the witty banter was hilarious. Perfect weekend read!

Amelia and Clara's parents are dead and their stepfather is dying. Upon his death, they will be thrown out and have nothing.

With this looming difficulty, Amelia wants to secure her sister's future and travels with Clara to Lakeshire Park upon the invitation of Sir Ronald. This is what's most important to Amelia and we see her make decisions with the sole purpose to achieve a good match for Clara, who has feelings for Sir Ronald.

Unfortunately, despite Amelia's good intentions, there are many problems in her way. She discovers Peter Wood, also staying at Lakeshire Park with his sister Georginana, wants to secure his sister's intentions with the same Sir Ronald.

You can see how the situation is intense for all the parties involved.

I liked seeing how Amelia and Peter evolve from her not liking him at all to seeing him as a friend and eventually something more.
I really liked Lady Demsworth and the other secondary characters.

The ending was a whirlwind with HEA for (almost) everyone.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

*5 OUT OF 5 STARS*
Am I shocked?? Yes, truly I am. I absolutely adored this book!! It had everything in it that I desire in a historical romance. A strong, capable woman, a handsome, mischievous, charming, and wealthy man. The love interests despising each other at first, but their hatred turns to passionate love. UGH. I am a sucker for the enemies-to-lovers trope (A well-known fact about me).

This book was beautifully written. There was so much plot laced into the growing romance between our main characters, Amelia and Peter. Amelia's love for her sister Clara and her determination to make sure Clara married Sir Ronald so she was happy was so admirable. Her fight against her growing affection for Peter was actually very realistic and even relatable at some points. Peter of course, was just ugh *swoon*. This book was such a fun, guilty pleasure read for me. I am so surprised by how much I liked it and how quickly I devoured it!!

Utterly sweet romance. Lakeshire Park tells the story of the Moore sisters. While Amelia is trying to secure a match for her sister Clara she stumbles upon a love story for herself. Walker tells a sweet, heartwarming love story of Amelia and Peter Wood who seek find not only love but beloning and home. This book made me smile and laugh and truly warmed my heart

I loved this story. I really, really love a story that shows me exactly why two people fall in love. That is the one thing I miss from Jane Austen's stories, the talking. They hardly talk to each other. Elizabeth and Darcy fall in love only speaking to each other a handful of times. Most of that time is spent saying unkind things to each other. I think because I am such a huge word person I love an author that gives me lots of speaking words. Julianne Donaldson does a good job of this and that is what I am comparing this book to. If you read Edenbrook and loved it, you will like this. Enemies to Lovers troupe worked so well in this story. I feel in love with them both as they fell in love with each other. There was the perfect balance of drama and play and the conflict was brilliant and then brilliantly resolved! SO happy I got to read this! Thank you Netgally:}
