This is a sweet romance. It is predictable but the characters are enjoyable. And who doesn’t love a good looking Scotsman! If you need a quick lovely romance…THIS IS IT!

This second book in this series is a fun, cute and light read full of Scottish fun and small town moments. The main characters are loveable and you will definitely be rooting for them to get all their stuff figured out.

Eh.
It just ended up to not be for me. It was boring and meh, i just did not enjoy the characters or their chemistry.

Hot man in a kilt. Sassy and steamy. What's not to love? I will say that I love a capable and strong heroine but Anna could be a bit much.

RATING: 3.5 STARS

I enjoyed this one a bit more than the first book. It is a sweet small town contemporary romance novel. I have been enjoying Trentham's small town novels.

Cute book with a sweet ending. All happy endings here so. I worries there. Not really spicy at all so I say good for all readers.

A fun loving, laugh out loud read! I enjoyed this page turning read! So many times I had to look up and around to make sure I was alone because I was laughing out loud and snorting more times than I should have! This book has the amazing romance and the beautifully chiseled characters that I look for in a great romcom. Definitely a 4 star read and great author!

A Highlander in a Pickup was cute, but I think it was a little too sweet for my tastes. I liked the idea of the small town series, but it wasn’t grabbing me as much as I hoped. I may try this again at a later point. DNF for now.

So the small town with a big Scottish heart gets another dose of Scottish greatness in a new adventure. Highland Georgia is not the typical southern town, a small town that has embraced its somewhat odd Scottish history and found a niche in marketing its town for tourists with a huge Scottish festival. I enjoyed the first book in this series and the second was pretty good too, but I am still having a bit of trouble connecting with the characters and their romance, the emotions just seem a bit to superficial but I continue to hope they deepen as the series continues. This story picks up where the first ended with the next year’s festival in need of a new leader in the form of Anna, seeing as the primaries are all currently in the true highlands for the birth of the next generation. Anna is determined to make this year’s festival amazing, because she needs prove she can be a good mayor, but she is truly overwhelmed with all the is needed to make the festival run smoothly. When Iain is sent by their friends to make things easier on her, she initially refuses his help, determined to prove she’s got this but he refuses to just sit around twiddling his thumbs and soon they are true partners. Iain is attracted to the sexy dance teacher but she frustrates him how she refuses to let him assist and is working herself to the bone. When worlds finally do collide, they both know their fling comes with an end date, but the newer of them truly want it to end even though they can’t see a way to get everything they want. So I just have to say, Anna annoyed the hell out of me through most of this story. While I fully understand her need to prove herself, anyone that refuses the hand outstretched to them when they are drowning is just an idiot, sorry. Once she finally embraced the greatness that was Iain and saw how well they could work together I began to like her a lot more, because to me the truth is not that a woman needs a man in front of or behind her, but having anyone (male or female) to walk beside them and help them in life is the greatest blessing a person can have and nothing to be turning your nose up at. Iain has a few issues with his fears about giving up what he considers his duty to his family in order to go after what he wants, but it doesn’t stop him from giving his all to his assignment helping Anna, even when she turns him away, and to being the man that Anna needs. I loved Iain and would love to have a strong, smart, and sweet man like him willing to work his butt off beside me any day of the week. There was enough passion between them with their attraction to keep things fun and interesting, but Anna was so self-wrapped and selfish that I wonder if love is something she truly understands so I found the HEA harder to handle than others I have read, tough I don’t doubt Iain for a moment. The only thing that really brought this story up was the strength and sweetness of Iain’s characters and the laughs that I got out of the antics these two got up to in the story. I am holding out hope that the next story has a deeper emotional connection between the H/h and I can truly say I love it, but until then I hold my opinion of this author.

I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.

This was too slow a burn and the chemistry between the main couple didn’t zing. (In fact, the first kiss wasn’t until 2/3rds the way through.) Anna was pretty snippy for a good part of the book and Iain was all sorts of awkward, alpha male (albeit with a heart of gold). Supposedly, it was the abandonment issues (his mother and her father) that kept them from connecting and allowing the relationship to flourish, but Trentham never delved too deeply into it. Ultimately, it didn’t have the same degree of fun and sexiness that Book 1 did. The Highland Games were the thing that connected them, but she just kept insulting him and acting like she could do it all on her own. Knowing how much work an event of the magnitude takes and the fact that she works full-time running her dance school, it wasn’t the least bit believable that she’d be able to handle everything on her own. If anything, the fact that her best friend Izzy (from Book 1) sent Isaiah to help her should have been all she needed to accept a partnership, not just make him the “pooper scooper.” Forgettable!

This is a fun series, and I enjoyed this second installment even more than the first one -- it must be the enemies-to-lovers trope. I'm looking forward to more from this author.

I enjoyed my second visit to Highland, Georgia and to another Highland Games. This time around, Anna Maitland is running the Highland games because her friend Isabel Blackmoor, is in Scotland awaiting the birth of her first child. Anna is the local dance instructor who has assisted for years, so will surely be up to the task. Isabel's husband, Gareth, has enlisted the help of his best friend, Iain Connors, son of the Cairndow groundskeeper, to head to Highland and help out. Well, this is a romance after all, so we know there will be some chemistry between these two.

I really enjoyed how Anna's and Iain's relationship developed. Neither of them were looking for a relationship. Iain had to go back to Scotland and Anna was proud of running her own business and running for mayor of Highland. Planning the games didn't go as smoothly as Anna had hoped and there were many incidents that had me laughing out loud. Their banter was also fun and flirty, so it was no surprise that they ended up on a physical relationship. This was a well-paced and entertaining contemporary romance. The story was realistic with relatable characters, even prickly Anna, who eventually softens up. I enjoyed this story and don't hesitate to recommend it.

I am a big Laura Trentham fan and I loved the Cottonbloom series, but I'm sorry to say that I just don't feel the same way about this new series. In her defense, I did not read the first book in the series which might have helped, but my problem is not really with the book, the plot or the way it is written. My problem is with the main characters, specifically Anna. In this obviously enemies to lovers trope, the enemies part is just painful to read. They bicker all the time and Anna is downright cruel to Iain with what she says to him on more than one (or two or three or.... occasions). I found it to be just too much. When they finally did get together, it was just sex. I never did feel that these two liked each other at all. They just liked sex (and it seemed steamier than usual). This does not mean that I will quit reading Laura Trentham. It just means that I may not read any of the other books in this series.

This is the second installment in this series and even if you didn't read the first book (why didn't you!) you will not be lost with this one. Anna Maitland, the local dance teacher, is tasked with planning the Highland games this year since her BFF is in Scotland on bedrest at the end of her pregnancy. Since she is not able to be there she sent Anna a helper in the form of a man who is rugged and gorgeous and wears a kilt like he is made for it (and he is). Iain Connors is fresh from Her Majesty's Service and he was supposed to take over for his father as Cairndow's caretaker but when he was needed in Georgia he readily agreed to help. Anna is NOT thrilled to find him in Anna's house nor does she want his help. These two clash but where there is smoke there certainly is fire in the form of chemistry and these two have it in spades. Watching them come together was fantastic! Will they survive after the games or will that be the end of it? Make sure you read all the way to the end. This one is a must read and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

Overall, I thought this book was a quick and easy read. Together these two are very similar and can’t help but butt heads. And the sizzling sexual tension doesn’t help the situation either. I loved watching these two butt heads and deny the feelings they had for one another. I knew it would lead to something pretty special and couldn’t wait to see how it would all play out.

This was a pretty good story. I read the first book in this series and enjoyed it. This one gave me similar enjoyment with the story and both main characters. I liked both Anna and Iain as they have to work together to set up the Highland Games. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I highly recommend.

4/5 stars

I really enjoyed this grumpy sunshine romance and believe it was better than the first! Anna and Iain's story was such a good small town, enemies to lovers read! Iain was the ultimate strong, silent and slightly awkward hero type while Anna was his opposite as the upbeat, sunny dance studio instructor. The romance itself had decent chemistry with open door scenes, but I felt it needed a bit more sizzle and I felt the ending was a bit rushed. Overall, it was just enough chemistry and likeable characters to continue the series, especially since this romance series seems to get better and better!
