I really enjoy this genre of books. Abigail and Dashiell got into lots of trails during their task for the government. Can't wait to go back and read these other books in this series.

This was a really good historical romance. This is the first book I have read in the Daughters of the Mayflower Series and also the first book I’ve read from this author. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it. I had thought that the series of books would probably take place on the mayflower ship, but it did not. This story started out in Chicago, with a young girl named Abby. She was from the upper class, as her father was a banker. She fell in love with Dash, the stable master’s son. The story continues through some tragic events and a lot of faith building experiences. The story was written very well. It kept my attention and I didn’t want to put it down. I love some of the interesting historical facts that took place, like the Children’s Blizzard of 1888. The sweet love story between Abby and Dash, warmed my heart. Learning that we must have faith in God. We also need to focus on forgiving and forgetting. The story can be read as a standalone novel. I am excited to read more from this series and this author. I received this book from the Publisher through Net galley for an honest review.

Dash was quite the dashing hero, and Abigail was a good fit for him. The subterfuge, the unknown villain, and the danger of the blizzard kept the pages turning. Sweet romance with hints of mystery.

This is another great novel in the series. It's number 11 or 12. The author was highly successful in weaving a story of love with historical facts. I knew nothing of the blizzard of 1888 but the additional material really piqued my interest, Abigail arrived to teach in Nebraska in January 1888 …and to identify a boy as the son of a deadly counterfeiter who was responsible for the death of her father. Her love Dash fears for her life as she carries out the task and is unhappy with her involvement in this assignment. While they continue on their quest they also navigate their relationship through the historic blizzard. This was a light read, easy to follow, very pleasant.

Young love torn apart by a world of hurt, but brought together again through the divine plan of the Almighty must survive against the odds in a chilly Nebraska winter of 1888. Dash Lassiter and Abby Bracey were lost to each other until a daring mission twisted their paths together toward an unlikely fate.

Awaiting the arrest of the man who killed her father, Abby Bracey is determined to do her part in finding him, even if it means working with her former flame Dash Lassiter who broke her heart and left her angry and bitter. Dash is fighting his own demons though, and wishes to leave the past behind him, but cannot forget the love he still has for Abby. Determined to keep her safe, even as she continues to push him away in anger and hurt, Dash remains in her life, in spite of her many objections.

When danger mounts and all Hope seems to be gone, can Dash and Abby work past their former hurts to continue in faith to what God has brought them together for? Can they save a young boy from his evil father and see justice have its reward for Abby’s family?

This has by far been my favorite book in the “Daughters of the Mayflower” book series. The storyline was exceptional and kept me in suspense the whole book. I couldn’t put it down! The sweet relationship between Dash and Abby was so beautiful. I love how many real emotions were portrayed in their stories. As I was reading I felt as if I could truly feel the hurt and pain in the characters, but also the faith as they allowed God to heal them! I would definitely recommend this book to any Christian Historical Romance lover!

The Blizzard Bride is another in the fabulous Daughters of the Mayflower series. It is a historical fiction series that follows a family tree linked by the daughters across American history from the landing of the Mayflower through the events of World War II. In The Blizzard Bride, the author brings us to Nebraska in the late-1880s and the reader meets Abigail Bracey, a young woman on a secret mission to find a missing child. An unexpected pairing with a former suitor, who is now a Secret Service agent on the same mission, has Abby confronting her past heartache--an aching in the corner of her heart that she has ignored for a number or years now. Can she look beyond the hurt and forgive Dash so she can keep focused on identifying the boy before his counterfeiter father finds him? I loved the humor the author has written into the story as well as the historical information regarding the disastrous blizzard of 1888. I had not heard of this blizzard in which 200+ children tragically perished. The pages of this book were infused with drama, history, family, and emotional tension. And threaded throughout was the soft tender message of God--the One who heals our hurts and helps us do the difficult things in life. I am looking forward to reading more of this author's works and more, as well, in the Daughters of the Mayflower series, a series for those who love stories of history, adventure, romance, and family legacy.

Nice. This is the first book I have read by this author, and it was enjoyable. I will seek this author out again in the future. Interesting backdrop for a romance, the Children's Blizzard. But it was well done.
My only complaint with this is more with the series. It's supposed to be this single family, but every one that I have read has some major tragedy for the hero/heroine to overcome. What a great family saga, where you know the characters you just fell in love with will end up dying in some horrible manner. Again, I haven't read all the books in this series, but the ones I have all had this in common.

I received a copy of this book in order to facilitate my review. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise. All opinions are my own.

The Blizzard Bride is part of The Daughters of the Mayflower series. I thought this was a pretty good read. It was based on true historical events that I had never heard of before. It was interesting to read the details of this time. The plot is full of action, mystery and danger. I loved Abigail from the start. She was one determined woman that I greatly admired.
I am giving The Blizzard Bride four stars. I look forward to reading more by Susanne Dietze in the future. I recommend this one to others readers who enjoy historical fiction.
I received this book from the publisher, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

The Blizzard Bride brings history to life. Susanne Dietze makes the characters and setting come alive, bringing a shiver of cold during a sunny day.
Teacher Abby wants nothing more than to exact justice and revenge for her father's murder. She will agree to anything the Secret Service asks so she can witness the downfall of Pitch, murderer and forger. Anything, that is, but work with her former beau, who left her embarrassed and angry at his betrayal. Dash has felt a step behind the "smart people" his entire life. While school might not have been a strength, his mind is sharp, able to detect fake bills with a simple feel. Because of this, he lands a job with the Secret Service, hunting down one of the most dangerous criminals they have ever encountered. Secrets and half truths have become a part of his life, helping him to forget the pain of his past and the girl he had to leave behind. While Abby has no interest in working with Dash, she agrees so as to avoid being left out of the hunt for Pitch. Dash wants only to apologize for the past and move forward. But God has bigger plans for them both.
Susanne Dietze weaves a masterful story filled with rich descriptions and insight. The reader feels the cold of the blizzard, the pang of anger at facing an old flame, and the excitement of a student learning a new fact. Her characters come to life, pulling the reader into the story and their lives. You find yourself looking at the clues and hints left to find the hidden identity of Pitch, wanting to help Dash sound out the words, and hold Abby's hand through her confusing and hurting moments. History comes alive through the telling of this story and you don't want to miss it. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I have so enjoyed every book in this series and this book is no exception. Suzanne Dietze has written about a very little known event and American history, the Children's Blizzard of 1888. I had read a non-fiction account of this event several years ago and found this book stayed true to form from some of the historical accounts. Suzanne's beautiful prose appealed to the senses, allowing the reader to experience the sensations of bitter cold, stinging of the ice/snow and the blindness caused by forceful winds driving the snow.

With this event as a backdrop to the plot, the hero/heroine are on a mission for the Secret Service to locate a dangerous counterfeiter. While there is a sweet romance, the underlying theme of forgiveness was the driving force of the story. I look forward to reading more stories by Dietz in the future.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.

"The Blizzard Bride" by Susanne Dietze, is an Engrossing Christian, Historical, Romantic Suspence Novel. I ❤️ that it's set in Nebraska. I experienced many "NE Blizzards", while growing up there. I enjoyed the historical aspects of the Story; especially the Secret Service's task, of rooting out Counterfeittors, in the post Civil War era. SD truthfully & sensitively portrays the problem of Dyslexia. SD also gives us life & death Danger from the Weather, & life & death Danger from a Murdering Criminal!

There are several ❤️ Stories in this Novel! The ❤️ of an Aunt for her orphaned Nephew; the ❤️ of a small, rural Community for each other; the ❤️ of Parents for their Children; the ❤️ of a Teacher for her Students, the Community for the Teacher; & ultimately, the 2nd Chance 💗 between the Hero & the Heroine!

I'm so glad this belongs to a wider series because I'll definitely be hunting down the first 10! Abby and Dash have a complicated history which creates a great plot alongside the mission to seek out the man who killed Abby's father. I think this book is perfect for an afternoon of reading!

A very intriguing tale of a one room schoolhouse teacher in Nebraska! Abby Bracey is an excellent protagonist as she gets a job as a teacher but is really on the lookout for a counterfeiter who killed her father! She is working for the Secret Service as is her former suitor, Agent Dash Lassiter. It was suspenseful when the Blizzard of 1888 hit while Abby and her students are at the schoolhouse except for two students who were sent home early because the brother brought a skunk to school--for the second time I recommend The Blizzard Bride to others who enjoy historical fiction. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

With a deep level of intrigue this story held a scheming secret that aroused my curiosity! I wanted to find out this secret, so I kept reading. I love reading stories from the past when life seemed so leisurely slow. Were things simplier or more complicated then? We have easier ways of getting things done this day and time. But I love the way things moved at a slower pace, and the author brought out great details of days long gone by, and of how the problems might have taken a little longer to figure out, but they were the same kind of problems we might face today. With today's technology though, we just seem to have an easier way to figure them out.

This story, THE BLIZZARD BRIDE, by Susanne Dietze, took place in Chicago. The date December 3, 1887. Abigail Bracey was having lunch, and seated across from Mr. Welch, he being the Assistant Operative of the Chicago District Office of the United States Secret Service, she was discussing a matter of great importance to her, her father, and what had happened, as quietly as possible. At their last talk, they knew where the assailant, the counterfeiter was. She found out that the assailant had started in New York, then moved around under different names, she just didn't know what he looked like, and where he might be now. He could be right under their noses. It would be like finding a needle in a hay stack. So Abby took the teaching job in Nebraska in order to help find the missing woman pretending to be a widow woman with a son. Even though they did not know what she looked like. As soon as she found out that she was assigned with, Dashiell Lassiter, to help her find them, Abby wanted to back out. Why?

Suddenly the story took a faster pace as Abby headed toward Nebraska, by train and her new job. As she got settled in, a blizzard abruptly appeared and brought on bigger problems with two children suddenly missing. Will Abby find the two missing children? The woman and child? Maybe her father's murderer? Or will this little adventure lead her into more trouble than she bargained for, and she may need help to get out of? A five star read that I highly recommend.

This was the first book I’ve read of The Daughters of the Mayflower series and I enjoyed it. I didn’t feel lost so I think these books can be read as a standalone. Childhood sweethearts, Abigail Bracey and Agent Dashiell Lassiter are thrown back together on a mission to find the son of the infamous counterfeiter, The Artist.

Abigail is fixated on the death of her father. His death caused a change in her fortune, which has left her an outcast to society. Her only driving factor is finding her father’s killer. She’s also bitter about Dashiell’s sudden departure six years earlier. She has lost her faith and it was interesting to see her struggle with that. Also, she keeps people at a polite distance, worried that they will turn their backs on her once they find out the truth about her family.

Dashiell is a total sweetheart and little wounded. He left Abigail because all he wants to do is protect her even if that’s from himself. Dashiell’s father was a servant to Abigail’s household, which is how the pair met. He struggles with his ability to read and write. He believes that he’s not good enough for her and that she deserves better.

The romance is a slow burn. The pair are brought back together six years after Dashiell’s departure when Abigail is recruited to help located The Artist’s son. They have a lot to work through — Abigail has her hurt and anger of Dashiell’s rejection where has to overcome this notion that he isn’t good enough for her.

The pacing is a little off. Once the pair start to reconnect and try to navigate their relationship the mystery element dropped off. I was able to guess which of the three kids was The Artist’s son, and that’s because Abigail doesn’t entrain the idea of the other to kids. She’s quick to make up her mind, which makes the reveal of who The Artist was a little underwhelming.

1888’s Nebraska leaps off the page. Every detail felt authentic to the period. You can tell Susanne Dietze has done her research. It was a great snapshot of what rural life was like for people. Also, it was interesting to learn about counterfeiting and the tools and process of creating money.

While this is a Christian fiction book, for me the religious overtones were a bit much. I found it pulled me out of the story. But for the time period and the characters, Dashiell, in particular, it makes sense. These are religious people so they would think of God and pray to him for guidance. I just wish there was less of it.

I did enjoy this one. Abigail and Dashiell’s romance was sweet and perfect for a Hallmark movie. I wished the mystery side of things were more developed.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I had no idea about this blizzard and how it could hit. I liked that there was the mystery to solve and how forgiveness was sought. Another great addition to the Daughters of the Mayflower Series. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. All views are my own.
