"The Blizzard Bride" is book 11 in the "Daughters of the Mayflower" series. This like all in this series is a stand alone. "The Blizzard Bride" was written by Susanna Dietze. The story is set in the year of 1888. It was a page turn and filled with adventure, love and a funny seen with a skunk. I can see that the author spent a lot of time researching the historical aspect of this book. The characters are likeable and I couldn't wait to see what happens next. I will definitely read The Blizzard Bride again.

I can hardly believe that this is the eleventh book I have read in this series. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I have to say that this was one of my favorites in the series. The story moved right along making it very hard to put it down with two sessions of reading past two in the morning. Dash and Abby are characters with believable stories. Abby especially grew and changed as the interesting plot progressed.
I liked the townspeople and found the depiction of life, struggles and the battle with nature an intense storyline. The author did a good job keeping a mysterious portion of the story up in the air too.
I recommend this book to those who enjoy historical plots that accurately depict well researched events and occurrences in the daily life of the past.

I love this series! The writing is so well done and you can tell a whole lot of research went into each story. I also am a sucker for historical romance. I blame it on my daddy who always shared his love for history with me. Having never read anything from Dietze before, I was impressed with her pacing and characters.

Abigail Bracey is the new teacher in Wells, Nebraska. As much as she enjoys her job, she is also there on a job with the Secret Service, working for the Treasury, investigating a counterfeiter's lost son. Her mission is secret except to Secret Service Agent Dashiell Lassiter who is also in town because they got word that the counterfeiter was headed their way. Abby and Dash are not only coworkers but former childhood sweethearts. Dash left her right before Abby's entire life fell to pieces and she's never forgiven him. Can the two of them work together to find this evil man and protect his son?

Having never heard about the crazy blizzard of January 1888, I was intrigued to learn something new and get a great story too. I love how the author wove the story of bitterness and forgiveness even til the very end. Abby's transformation is beautiful and brought tears to my eyes. Loving your enemy is not easy but it was inspiring to read about.

Highly recommend for those that enjoy historical inspirational fiction.

I think I've read all the books in this series (so far) and haven't been disappointed in any of them. I love that in The Blizzard Bride the main characters, Abby and Dash, have a history together. I also love how they now are joined together toward a common goal and are forced to work through their problems. The historical aspects of this book (the storm) are fascinating! The story deals with spiritual forgiveness, courage, and faith. Love it!

The Blizzard Bride is the 11th book in the Daughter of the Mayflower series. It’s been written by Susanne Dietze, who is a brand new author for this series, so I was very curious how this book would turn out! And I can say, it turned out amazing!

We follow both Abby and Dash, as they try to find a counterfeiter. Dash is with the Secret Service, and has been on this case for a long time, while Abby is a school teacher who’s father got murdered and she wants justice. When Dash finds out the counterfeiter is looking for his son, and knows which town the boy is in, but the identity remains a mystery. And who can look better for clues than a teacher? A perfect situation for Abby, and she wants to do her bit to catch the counterfeiter and protect the child. However, when she finds out that Dash is the operative coming with her, she’s not very happy about it to say the least, as they have a history...

Oh, I just love a good mystery... and this definitely was one! I kept looking for clues which boy could be the one, all the while looking for the counterfeiter and also trying to discover what happened between Dash and Abby. It was an interactive read so to speak lol! Both characters were very likable, even though Abby has drifted a bit apart from God in her anger. I loved how she learned to open up, and slowly learned to trust again. Especially with her budding friendship with an elderly man, it just made my heart melt. And Dash is a wonderful man with absolutely no manners. Gotta love that. Their interaction was golden and made me laugh out loud, but they also weren’t afraid to tell each other the truth and have deep conversations. The spiritual lessons were also very good, and very subtly added to the plot without it being too obvious. There were quite a few subplots actually which enriched the story even more, with many fleshed out characters. And even though I had solved one of the mysteries almost the minute it showed up on page (yeah I’m keeping it vague on purpose), I still very much enjoyed reading towards the grand finale. All in all, I very much loved this book, especially with the touch of mystery added.

Christian Historical Romance!

The Blizzard Bride was an engaging read that touched my heart many times. Abby has been through heartache, losing her father, the later her mother, her reputation and wealth when her father's crime is exposed. She vows revenge on the man who took her father's life...and her heart begins to harden.

Interesting tidbits on this book. It is part of The Mayflower Series which focuses on specific historical events - in this case The Children's Blizzard. The methods of survival were neat, and really kept me engaged in the story!!

There is also a glossary of useful terms for counterfeiting money that came in handy. This part was really interesting to me: the terms, the techniques, how the Secret Service worked to track the guy printing out counterfeit money were fascinated and described in depth so that I felt like I was part of the book. Perfect example of show not tell!!!

It is easy to relate to Abby, as she has been rejected by the very church who is supposed to show God's love and compassion. Dash, too is quite an easy man to like. I like their history that they share, and the chemistry between them. I also like that neither one of them are perfect and both have areas where they struggle. As they work together to find the counterfeiter, sparks fly in ways they could not predict. This book has it all: action, adventure, G rated romance, faith, and friendships!!!

Some of the themes: Forgiveness, Unconditional love, Acceptance, God's grace.

I was fascinated and horrified to learn more about the January 12, 1888 blizzard in Nebraska, and I really enjoyed the author's note after the story. I enjoyed The Blizzard Bride as historical fiction is one of my favorite genres. The Daughters of the Mayflower series is a wonderful walk through American History via historical fiction. The Blizzard Bride has it all from heartbreak, pain, anger, mystery, criminal on the run, survival, forgiveness, and faith. This could be made into a Hallmark mystery movie! Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for the chance to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.

Susanne Dietze creates believable characters and invokes empathy for them from the reader. Abby's underlying theme of forgiveness and finding her way back to God after losing her father is heartwarming. The historical aspect of the blizzard adds excitement and suspense to a fast-moving story that grabbed me from the first page. I look forward to reading more from this author and I recommend this book to anyone looking for light romance and historical picture with a biblical undercurrent.

This book was so good! I read it all in one afternoon! I couldn’t put it down! I really cared about these characters. I hadn’t heard about the Children’s Blizzard before this. The author did a great job writing about such a frightening experience. I would definitely recommend this book!

Wonderful read! Filled with adventure, drama and suspense. Abby acceptance of a teaching position in Wells, Nebraska finds her facing her former love Dash. They have been thrown together to try to catch a counterfeit Fletcher Pitch. Abby is teaching to find his son whom Pitch is coming to take. Dash is trying to find Pitch and protect Abby.
Abby is looking for revenge of her father’s death which Pitch is responsible for and she still loathe Dash for leaving her without any explanation 6 years ago.
Both still have feelings for each other can they rekindled their love?
Both have issues to work through not to mention a blizzard and evil counterfeiter.
I love this story and book and highly recommend it!

An enjoyable, clean historical read, about long-lost love and reconciliation, featuring two likable characters, “The Blizzard Bride”, by Susanne Dietze (Barbour Publishing), [ brings an interesting approach to a reading disorder, showing the pain and the shame the hero suffers because of it. Sweethearts separated by deceit and hurt, Dashiell and Abigail reunite in a difficult mission and slowly make peace in a Nebraska small-town and community “full of hope and joy”.
The take on the wounded hero was original, well researched and convincing.
Reviving the blizzard of 1888 was also engaging.
I found some facets of Dash’s job as a secret agent a bit thin, although you can easily forget that as you immerse yourself in the picturesque small-town setting.

Continuing to love these covers and this trip through history in the Daughters of the Mayflower Series.

The Blizzard Bride is set in Nebraska during the blizzard of January 12, 1888. This blizzard was particularly deadly because the weather went from moderate to snowing suddenly. Abbie is serving as a school teacher while secretly looking for her father's killer. The storm comes in during the school day and she has to act quickly to give them all the best chance to survive.

The hero in this story, Dash, planned to marry Abbie six years ago, but left town without telling her why. His abrupt departure left Abbie hurt and angry.

While the romance was sweet, what I loved most about this novel was learning more about the blizzard and the relationship between Abbie and the town's crustiest character. Stripey, the skunk, was also a fun addition to the story.

The Blizzard Bride Daughters of the Mayflower #11 by Susanne Dietze is a Christian Historical Mystery Romance. The crimes, characters and the scenes described are very realistic. Well researched details and the blizzard was based on a real blizzard. Lots of suspense and mystery from the first page until the last page. Christian values portrayed, as in no Christian is always perfect but God‘s Grace is perfect. The Gospel is shared with unbelievers.
The Daughters of the Mayflower series reminds me of the old song that is seldom sung now America the Beautiful.‘‘ America, America God shed his grace on thee…‘‘
Read the whole series in any order and your heart will be blessed.

I had trouble getting into this book. I found myself skimming parts of it. It had an interesting story line. But I just couldn't get into it. The last fourth of the book got interesting and kept me reading. I hate to give bad reviews. But I will be giving this book two stars.

I hope this makes up for the bad review I just left.😀 I couldn't get enough of this book. Each time I read a new entry into The Mayflower Brides, I think, "Oh, this is my favorite!" Such was the case, once again with The Blizzard Bride. I was right there with Abigail, trying to discover which little boy in her classroom had a criminal father (who was out there somewhere searching to kidnap him). This may be a Christian novel, but it was no tame little read.; no, it was packed with adventure and certainly held my attention. Such a pleasure after reading several books this month that didn't! And such a joy to find a truly good book that I can feel good recommending to others. I appreciated the faith and scriptural quotations in it. Please, more Mayflower Brides!

I really love the Daughters of the Mayflower series! The Blizzard Bride intertwines the historical Schoolhouse Blizzard of January 12, 1888 in which many lives perished and counterfeiting of money in which a man is traced to Nebraska. Abby's father was murdered by this counterfeiter and she would like nothing more than to seek revenge so she takes a job as a teacher in Nebraska to help the United States Secret Service. Unfortunately for her, Dash, her childhood sweetheart who suddenly disappeared, suddenly reappears, and works for the Secret Service. Follow Abby and Dash as they try to located this murdering counterfeiter but battle each other, God, and their insecurities. I love how Ms. Dietze wrote about the history of the blizzard at the end of the book. She also included information about the Secret Service and dyslexia, which is also mentioned in the book. The Blizzard Bride is the eleventh in the Mayflower Brides series. I love how the author ties in the character's legacy. Abby Bracey ends up in small town Nebraska January 1888 on a mission to help secret service agent and former beau find the man who killed her father. Under disguise as a schoolteacher she is also searching for the child of the man who killed her father.
I found this book more suspenseful and action packed than others I"ve read in this series, which means it might be my favorite. I loved how the book kept moving and it kept snowing through the entire story on and off. Of course there's a blizzard which adds to the suspense and romance. Even the addition of the skunk was clever.
I enjoyed this book and will continue reading the series (I'd stopped for a while after one I'd read that struck me as boring).There are different authors so I enjoy that.
If you like any of the Barbour novellas this series is of a similar nature, but the stories are longer.
I'd definitely recommend this one and can't wait to tell my friend who just moved to Nebraska to read it.

Second Chance Love

I love the way Christian historical fiction authors blend factual events with storytelling to create page-turning novels. Add in a romance and mystery with spiritual truths and you have a book that leaves you pondering well after you have finished the last page.
Abby and Dash’s initial relationship had suffered greatly from misunderstandings and communication issues. When a mutual goal brings them into each other’s lives again, it is rewarding to see how their renewed acquaintance develops, especially Abby’s spiritual rediscovery. Forgiveness and second chances play pivotal roles in this story and could provide opportunities for self-reflection. In my opinion, The Blizzard Bride could be a good book club choice or personal reading choice. Well done!

A fun read! I didn't know what to expect when I started this one, but I liked the cover, and the blurb sounded fun. I really enjoyed it, though, and am glad I got the chance to read it! I enjoyed the characters, and the story was well written!
