I loved Katrina and Jas! I loved how they both were attracted to each other but kept it under wraps - the tension and chemistry was so so good!!! Between both of their traumatic pasts/backstories, I found that there was also a lot of depth and layers in the story that I truly appreciated. I loved meeting Jas' family and I wish we could get a book about his brother! I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series and I sense a deep dive into Alisha Rai's backlist in my near future.

Girl Gone Viral was a great read by Alisha Rai. Katrina is a reclusive investor that has an innocent conversation with a random man at a coffee shop. Next thing she knows, a stranger live-tweeted their meet-cute. Katrina now is trying to hide from the internet sleuths that are trying to find her identity. Jas is a bodyguard who offer's his family farm to Katrina to hide in. Little does he know she has a crush on him. I really enjoyed reading Katrina and Jas' story and cant wait to read more by Alisha Rai.

This is a bodyguard romance full of longing which I love! It also had rep for PTSD and Anxiety/panic attacks which was really unique to see in a romance novel. I cannot say if the representation for the PTSD was good but I could kind of relate to the anxiety in it. Overall an entertaining read that I would definitely recommend!

Synopsis: Katrina King likes living a low-profile life, out of the public eye. After striking up a conversation with a cute guy in the local coffee shop, Katrina finds out that the entire encounter was live-tweeted by the girl at the table next to her. Now the internet is dying to find out who #CuteCafeGirl is and Katrina would do anything in her power to make sure no one knows her real identity.

Jas Singh, Katrina’s bodyguard, and friend comes to her rescue and takes her up North to his family’s farm. But being alone with Jas in a remote setting makes it that much harder for Katrina to hide her attraction to him. Does Jas feel the same way? What happens if Katrina tells him how she feels and ends up losing him forever?

Review: I read the first book in this series, The Right Swipe, and really liked it so I couldn’t wait to get this book and read it. I was so excited to find out this book was about Katrina because I really liked her in The Right Swipe and hoped she would finally get her happy ever after.

I liked that the characters had real-life problems – Veteran with PTSD, parental and emotional abuse, and anxiety. They both had a lot going on in their personal lives (not just emotionally) and were very career-focused.

“Sometimes we think a person doesn’t need to hear something because it’s obvious because they know what’s in our hearts. But that’s not how the world works. We have to say the things.” ― Alisha Rai, Girl Gone Viral

Overall I liked this book, it was a fun read. I wish the romance scenes were a bit more steamy, especially since the entire book these two characters are pining for each other and have been for years, but it was still a good read. I loved that both characters were selfless and really kind. Both cared a lot about other people and seemed really genuine.

What a super cute story. I loved the body guard element. I did find Jas and Katrina's not know if the other one liked them was a little annoying. Which in turn made it seem like it took forever for them to get together, but when they did it was cute.

Girl Gone Viral deals with some difficult topics, while building a swoony romance. Katrina is a private, wealthy investor who has experienced trauma and experiences panic attacks that make it hard for her to go beyond her known spots. When she goes viral, she has to make an escape with her bodyguard Jas, to a small house out on farmland in northern California. I really enjoyed following both POVs -- while Katrina has learned to share and vocalize her stress, Jas struggles to share his own.

The romance develops naturally, and I appreciated that this book doesn't follow some of the typical romance tropes -- when conflict develops, tie characters communicate with each other, and grow out of it. Alisha Rai is one of my favorite romance writers, and while her protags are always independent (this features the lead from the first in the series, who is still happily dating her boyfriend and traveling internationally), they don't compel me like the women of her other series, Forbidden Hearts (or maybe this series isn't racy enough for me?). Regardless, this is an easy, fast read that fans of Rai will enjoy!

So I had a good time reading this story, there is a good mix of everything going on, romance, self empowerment, and some comedy. I didn’t read book one so this is the first time I meet these characters. I had to laugh to myself a lot at just how in sync Katrina and Jas are on most things, and yet since they don’t want to cross the line of employee/ boss, they never talk about anything romantic with each other. So it leaves them to fret and worry over what the other person is thinking, when they are both basically thinking the same things. I was sitting by secretly rooting for them to hook up since they are so clearly perfect for each other. I also love the fact that despite Katrina’s prior trauma’s and her ongoing anxiety, she finds a way to embrace a more bullish, forceful attitude, where she is no one’s doormat. There are definitely some steamy sexual situations.☺️. Generally an enjoyable read. I’m usually not so much into soppy romances, but I enjoyed this. Review posted Amazon, Litsy, LibraryThing, Goodreads, and Facebook.

An unrequited love story between two people who have both suffered in their own ways is the backdrop for Girl Gone Viral by Alisha Rai. There was much I enjoyed about this slow burn romance between a reclusive ex-model and her bodyguard of a decade.

Emotionally and psychologically abused by her father turned manager from age 9, Katrina King has made sure no one can find her and has quietly slipped into obscurity. At a café where she feels safe with her bodyguard, Jas Singh, sitting nearby she shares a table with a man who asks only to have their conversation and a profile picture of her shared on Twitter as it happens. With her privacy violated, her anxiety ramps up and Jas offer to take her away where no one will find her. He just doesn’t expect his family’s farm to bring them closer together while exposing all of his weaknesses.

Honestly, I loved both of these characters Kat is wealthy beyond most people’s dreams but she is smart, savvy, and so damn giving that you can’t help but like her. She loves investing in businesses that need help always as a silent partner and she enjoys the company of her very small circle of friends and employees that she can trust. She has been challenging herself to get out more and even set a goal of when she gets to 10 outings she’ll think about dating again; unfortunately the only man to really trip her trigger is her stoic bodyguard Jas.

For years Jas has protected Kat with the exception of the one time he should have been with her and wasn’t which caused her so much pain and suffering that he’s never quite gotten over it. While he doesn’t feel his services are needed as they once were when Kat’s eccentric husband was alive, he also can see fit to leave her side. Still struggling from PTSD from his time in the military and worried that an upcoming even will bring attention to him and will threaten Kat’s privacy, he is alarmed when a picture and story about her go viral that has nothing to do with him but puts her need for anonymity in jeopardy.

While I enjoyed the glimpse into both Kat and Jas’ family lives, at times I felt like those parts of the book over powered what was happening between them. Despite Kat’s issues and panic attacks, I wanted to see more cute/fun times with them together (like the pseudo snow fight) and less with her acting like a mediator between him and his family. I honestly also didn’t understand why so much emphasis was put on a pardon coming for someone who Jas testified against when it was basically dropped without any resolution. I felt like this book needed to be longer to address that situation as well as the one with his grandfather that was just kind of left in limbo. So much time was spent on his family issues and while I appreciate that Kat seemed to help him open up and forge a better relationship with them, some closure to that part of the story would have been nice.

This was a super, super slow burn romance which worked for these two and I’ll be honest they were both a bit inexperienced, so if you are expecting Ms. Rai’s normal heat level in this book, you aren’t going to get it.

Sometimes you feel like you are going to get a certain type of story based on the cover art. Well, this is one of those. I thought it was going to be a comedy, but it really is just contemporary romance. There were a couple of funny scenes, but they just go with the story, it doesn’t make this a comedy. Is it a good story? Yes, I thought it was. It was very relatable for many people today who suffer from extreme social anxiety and PTSD that keeps them isolated. She does a great job of portraying what that feels like and how even though others think you should be able to control it, how your thoughts and emotions just get out of control quickly and you can’t just pull them back in.

We are fortunate in this one it portrays a super rich girl and her bodyguard who can literally pay people to do the things requiring forays into the public. It is much different for someone who still lives with this level of anxiety and has no way to get anyone else to go out for them and so must conquer it to live life, even if for a small moment. Katrina and Jas each have their own anxiety issues caused by completely different things that happened in their life, yet they somehow recognize the kindred spirit in each other. There is tons of sexual tension in the course of the book even after they come together to make the pages go up in smoke before your eyes or your e-reader to compulsively start smoking.

When they do finally come together they discover they might be able to help with the other’s anxiety issues just a little bit…maybe enough to be out in public without worrying about how they or others are going to react around them. They learn to take a moment to get out of their own headspace and discover that there is lots of love in the world not just between two people. Those moments make life more enjoyable for each of them and give themselves some control over their own circumstances. I love that she lets each of them have one moment in the book where they conquer their fear in a face to face showdown with it and each comes away a success. It makes you feel like there is hope if you struggle with severe anxiety to be able to have little successes.

I’m giving this a 4 of 5 because I really wanted a comedy and that cover just killed it for me. I mean I finished this a couple weeks ago and I’m still upset by the cover. I’m really not into these stylized cartoon covers. Give me something that looks like the type of book I’m going to get. I mean can you imagine a hand drawn historical romance without a half naked man on the cover??? I’m just not falling for this new idea of cover art. They work for me for comedies, but not serious romance novels. Enough of my tirade.–Just go buy the book and let me know what you think of it.

Fairly predictable, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I liked the strong relationship between the three girlfriends.

I enjoyed reading several aspects of this book! The pacing was wonderful, characters were well drawn, and the reading experience on the whole was delightful.

Alisha Rai does it again in this wonderful book that is both timely and timeless. It's got everything you'd want from one of her books - romance, humor, wit, and a great love story.

We all know about the side effects of social media on our mental health. We all feel/felt it. Now, imagine if someone uploaded a photo or video of you without your consent.. This horror transcends to another level when that said photo/video goes viral, which is exactly what happens in this book. While we love watching a baby make pizza or a couple having a meet-cute in a cafe.. it’s imperative to note that they didn’t(one of them cannot) give their consent. Is a few day’s or minutes worth of fame worth it than their privacy? .
.
I loved reading Girl Gone Viral and I highly recommend you pick it up! Both the characters suffer from PTSD, anxiety attacks and it was such a joy to see them open up to each other. If you love a slow burn romance and a bodyguard(with amazing eyebrows) romance, then buy or borrow☺️

I was given a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

A picture taken by a total stranger of Katrina King talking with a random guy in a coffee shop goes viral,
Katrina has tried hard to build a private world for herself, and her security expert steps in to help her handle it. Problem is, she's had a crush on him for years. Does he feel the same?

Cute romance you will devour.

Katrina is a camera-shy ex-model who greatly values her privacy.
She is thrust into the spotlight when a woman live-tweets an innocent interaction Katrina has at a coffee shop, and her ‘meet-cute romance’ has gone viral.
Her bodyguard Jas takes her into hiding and their own romantic relationship is allowed to blossom.
Although this is a contemporary romanantic, comedy, the author also does a great job with her inclusion of mental health issues, such as panic attacks,PTSD, and anxiety. I really like the diversity of the characters, and fell in love with Katrina and Jas. Looking forward to her next book!

I was very pleased that this sequel did not fall flat like many do, I liked it as much as The Right Swipe! I found myself laughing along with the book a lot. Overall it all felt genuine to me with the nervousness, shyness, and the attraction. I thought that the way that the author handled tougher topics of anxiety, emotional abuse, and PTSD added an unexpected layer that gave the book more sustenance. It was not totally predictable, and that is always a win for me!

I loved Kat's mantra of creating her own space in the world and how she used to be brave and stand up for herself and ultimately push herself out of her comfort zone. She realized that she had to save herself this time and did so on her own terms.

Other things I enjoyed about it were the way that the author gave more depth to the book with Jas's family and friendships! I'm especially looking forward the next book in the series for Jia!

I really enjoyed this book. Sequels usually fall flat for me, but I think I may have enjoyed this more than book 1 (The Right Swipe). This is a great beach read. It was a quick read, following Kat and her bodyguard. Kat unexpectedly loses her private life to a picture unknowingly taken of her that goes viral. Her bodyguard/security removes her from her home and brings her to his families farm to help ease her anxiety and give her a sense of privacy again. During their time away, they both fight their romantic feelings for each other, until they can't anymore. I thought the author did a great job of not being predictable and sucking you into their journey. I would recommend this book.

This is the second book in the Modern Love series by Alisha Rai. THE RIGHT SWIPE (Modern Love #1) was a hot romance between two rival dating app creators. It is a 5/5 for me! When I saw her GIRL GONE VIRAL (Modern Love #2), I got really excited.

Alisha Rai's GIRL GONE VIRAL does not disappoint. It's a page-turner, absolutely addictive, and will keep you giggling. Katrina and Jas are delightful, as individual characters and as a pair.

I’m a fan of Alisha Rai and was excited to receive an arc of Girl Gone Viral. With that said, I felt like the build up was a little too slow and while I liked Katrina, I just wasn’t impressed by Jas and I wasn’t that into their pairing. I also didn’t like that we didn’t get to the “viral” portion until about 20% into the book. Normally, I can’t put her books down, but this one I didn’t finish.
