Funny and true, this is a book for young, old, and in-between. Old age isn't funny most of the time. I know because I'm getting there quickly. And Ms. Thomas doesn't spread any illusions about "The Golden Years." But if you don't get too riled up about losing your car keys (daily if "they" are still letting you drive), seeing your friends die (monthly if you still have some), and watching your lab numbers go the wrong direction (annually because you refuse to have the tests more often); and if you have a cat or dog or two or three or five to keep you company, the last part of life can be worth the trouble. So if you're old - read this book and know you're not alone; if you're not, read it so you understand those who are and can be prepared to get there - if you're lucky.

This is more of a memoir from an older woman than it is a book about how to age gracefully, but I did enjoy her stories and her lighthearted, conversational tone.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I am unsure how to categorize this book. It covered some serious topics, but was mostly light-hearted in tone. It is part memoir, and part how-to. Ms. Thomas discusses major events in her life and also explains how growing old has impacted her day to day thoughts and activities... and how it hasn't. She also offers tips on dealing with some of the challenges that have come with aging. I did enjoy the author's style. She writes in a conversational, matter-of-fact voice that is pleasant and easy-to-read.

An interesting-enough view of aging, and mostly memoir-like in its delivery. I found myself wishing the author could sit in a corner of my bedroom each night and tell me a story. There was nothing particularly revelatory, in my opinion, about aging, and I at times found myself waiting patiently for a section to end so we might move along to one of her more interesting stories. A quick, relaxing read.

My thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Just entering old age, but I could certainly relate to many of Ms. Thomas' observations! I enjoyed this book very much and will likely read it again as time passes. I have noticed little things matter a great deal more now that I'm older, and many of the big issues in the past, now look so much less important now that I'm past them. I haven't had the accomplished life of Ms. Thomas, but it's been full enough to satisfy me to an extent. I love the short chapters, I can sit mull over one or two with my afternoon coffee or tea! I would recommend this book for reading at any adult age, even the youngins will be here in the blink of an eye (it's an open secret, lol, that we older adults know only too well! I still feel like a 15 year old trapped in an aging body!) Well written from a very observant and articulate author. Kudos Ms. Thomas!
