This book just wasn't what I expected. It was a good concept but I just didn't get too invested in it.

This was a silly monster book. My kid was "playing along" with the do this, to get rid of monsters (clean room, brush teeth, etc) He likes this type of imagination play and even tho he was not actually buying it he still had fun incorporating some of this into our bed time routine.

This is a cute little book about getting over your fear of monsters in 10 easy steps. I think this would really help kids who are afraid of the dark or afraid to go to bed alone.

'The Ultimate Survival Guide to Bedtime Monsters' by Mitch Frost with illustrations by Daron Parton is a picture book to help frightened children feel better about their night time fears.

Told as a sort of commercial from Goodnight Labs, it advertises a book to help get rid of monsters. It includes suspicious advice like keeping your room clean and brushing your teeth, but includes things like inviting all your toys in to bed. There is silly advice on which monster types to ignore, too.

It's just ok. It didn't really wow me, but maybe it will tickle certain kids. The infomercial style wears thin and the parental advice seems to be there to win parents over. The illustrations are really nice, and the monsters shown are more silly than fierce.

Thist is a cute book. The illustrations and the story are a fun idea for a bedtime story. You know you have heard it before about bedtime monsters and what are you going to do about them. Or your little one is having a difficult time sleeping because they are afraid of the dark or thinks there is a monster in their room. Well, this is a story that is not only cute with colorful and adorable illustrations, but might be the story to read. We thought it would get those unsure about sleeping thinking about something else and ready to fall asleep or at least get them laughing.
Here are some ways to keep the monsters away or survive the bedtime monsters. My son enjoyed it and said little one can feel better and perhaps sleep better after listening to this story. He liked that one of the rules is to clean your room to keep the monsters away. Of course that is a way to help us keep our rooms clean and he caught on then thought that was a fun rule. It was a fun idea! There are nine more steps that are fun too!

The title delivers exactly what is promised. However, slightly older children might get suspicious when they realize keeping monsters away involves all of the things their guardians ask of them already like teeth brushing. Personally, I am not a fan of illustrations but the book is not meant for adults.

I received an ARC through NetGalley from Sourcebooks Jabberwocky. My 5-year-old gave this 5 stars. He really enjoyed all the Steps to take action against monsters, like Step 1 “clean room= no monsters.” We went through all 10 steps to make sure he is safeguarding himself well. The illustrations were bright, funny and very engaging. We had fun tagteam reading the pages and the steps. He liked pointing out the different types of monsters like flat, round, carrot, etc. Highly recommend for kids who just like monsters or also kids that need a little idea of how to feel safer in their room. Recommended ages 3-7.

3 stars.

This was quite good. It didn't jump out as being amazing but the message for kids that monsters aren't to be afraid of is a good one. It tells kids to just not be afraid but why. The illustration are suited and I liked the colour choices.

I do think some kid will be helped at nights by this book.

A fun idea that ultimately falls a bit flat, with some contradictory monster prevention advice that may cause parents some headaches. Step 1 in getting rid of bedtime monsters is: "Always tidy up your room before bed." But Step 5 is: "Before you go to sleep, invite all of your toys for a sleepover." The floor may be clear, but adults might still object to a bed filled with every toy a child owns. The silly humor and bright, quirky illustrations will appeal to kids, but overall I'm not sure how well young readers or their guardians will respond to this oddly confusing survival guide.

The Ultimate Survival Guide to Bedtime Monsters is a picturebook written by Mitch Frost and illustrated by Daron Parto. It is currently scheduled for release on May 1 2020. Do you lie awake at night worrying about monsters? Donut monsters? Blue monsters? DANCING ROBOT MONSTERS?! Then this is the book for you! Follow these ten easy steps and you'll never be bothered by monsters again. Not even carrot monsters. Perfect for anyone, big or small, who's ever been afraid of what might be lurking under the bed.

The Ultimate Survival Guide to Bedtime Monsters is a fun and brightly illustrated picturebook giving young readers a set of steps to feel a little safer at bed time. I liked the illustrations quite a bit, I thought that the attention to detail and the humor on each page added a great deal to the story. The text offers them suggestions like brushing their teeth because monsters hate minty fresh breath, and keeping their room clean because then there is no where for the monsters to hide. Not all of the suggestions are quite so aimed at good bedtime routines, one suggests surrounding yourself with your favorite stuffed animals and toys, because monsters do not like crowds. I thought the book was cute and might be just what some youngsters need to help them settle in to bed a bit easier.

The Ultimate Guide to Bedtime Monsters is a step by step guide for children to conquer their fears on monsters in their rooms or houses at night. They are told to brush their teeth, learn some jokes, invite toys to a sleepover, etc. The monsters are made less scary by being humanized with vanity and humor as some character traits. Children will love the brightly sketched illustrations and easy to follow storyline. This book would be best for children 4-8 years old.

What do you do when things go bump in the night?

Mitch Frost has crafted one unique yet fun book about how to battle those bedtime monsters away! Oh, and it has one super cool cover! If the cover doesn't pop out at you, I don't know what will!

This book reads like a humorous advertisement for a monster-ridding facility. It sticks out like a sore thumb with STEM-inspired pictures and kids in lab coats. Add in the goofy, colourful and absolutely fun pictures and you've got one wild book. The monsters look creepy yet fun, the kids look like they are either working hard or are as just as confused as the rest of us, and there's lots and lots of bubbles!

I think parents and educators will get a serious kick out of this book. I was chuckling along the way and would have loved to see the reaction of a kid. Adults could get creative with funny voices and make this an excellent bonding time book - just make sure your kid isn't wildly afraid of the boogie man before you pick up this book.

Also, there's a carrot monster! Bonus marks!

The tips on how to prevent Bedtime Monsters are hilarious, and I'll let you read the book to figure out why they are so amusing.

Four out of five stars! Just remember guys, dancing robot monsters don't exist.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for providing me a free copy (specifically, ARC) of this book to review.

Fun bedtime story!

This survival guide to bedtime monsters is a really cute bedtime story that includes a checklist of chores hidden in the monster survival guide. Did you know that monsters don't like clean rooms? Or minty fresh breath? These are just some of the clever chores hidden in a monster reducing bedtime ritual. I would have totally read this to my daughter in the hopes it would encourage her competing all of her chores.

The descriptions are fun and will help reduce your child's fear of closet and under the bed monsters.

At long last, science has discovered multiple ways to get rid of monsters lurking around. They have zero chance of hanging around once you’ve followed the 10 steps to the letter.
What a fun and extremely clever and ingenious way to dispel kids’ nighttime fears! The illustrations really bring the words to life - ones that’ll help kids visualize the monsters so they’ll be less scary. Parents will be very happy to get rid of the bedtime monsters too!

Silly and brightly illustrated, this book was a big hit with my kiddo. He loved commenting on the "scary" monsters, and was so excited that he already did many of the steps to repel monsters! This is a fun little book. It's a quick read, but it was enjoyable.
