I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

As a grandma's girl, I really appreciated this book. I loved the pictures and the special bond talked about between a grandma and granddaughter. There were a few stumbling blocks where text didn't flow quite smoothly, but I don't think it takes too much away from the story.

My daughter is the first born granddaughter. She was the only grand for 9 years. Since then there have been four more. She has this incredibly special and beautiful bond with my mom. It's the same bond I had with my Lolly (grandma) and my mom had with her Maw (grandma). We've been lucky to have these relationships and reading this book made me so happy and feel so grateful. It encapsulated the experience and special bond know so well in a really sweet way.

I loved reading this book with my granddaughter. It shares things that young children go through and that grandma (me) had similar things happen in my life when I was a child. Each two page spread shows a different grandma/granddaughter of differing ethnicities doing things. The love shines through in the text and the illustrations. The story is told in a rhyming fashion and the cadence worked well when reading aloud. Some of the various things they did together included gardening, splashing in the rain, eating ice-cream, looking at family photos and more. I loved Grandma tucking her granddaughter into bed and giving her a goodnight kiss, especially as we read this book before going to bed. This is a story of unconditional love between grandmas and their granddaughters and I loved sharing it with her. The illustrations by Laura Bobbiesi are wonderful. I love the diversity and the large colourful pictures that radiate love and caring. I will definitely be buying a copy for my library.

Thank you NetGalley, Sourcebooks and Susanna Leonard Hill for a copy of Grandma's Girl in exchange fr a fair review.
As I read this book to my granddaughter, we both enjoyed the story, the pictures and talking about the things she does and what I did at her age. Delightful story with beautiful pictures makes this a great book for any grandmother and granddaughter to share, enjoy and plan new adventures.

Read this book to my granddaughter and she loves it! It's now her favorite book for me to read! Can't wait for book to come out so I can buy!

This is a simple story of a grandma wishing her granddaughter love, joy, and all that life can bring. It also says that it is okay to have doubts, and question things in life, and that as long as you are you, things will be okay. The illustrations are lovely, and the story is nice. It tries to rhyme, but many are harsh and the cadence is hit or miss.

Sweet story with representation of diverse Grandma’s. Children don’t imagine the adults in their lives having once been children themselves and this book is a reminder of Grandma having been where you are “once upon a time” and of her unconditional love for her grandchild.

I've read a few books in this vein now, so I'm starting to be able to rank them. This book falls somewhere in the middle. It has a sweet sentiment and cute illustrations, but it seems overly long and has sections of clunky rhyme.

This would be a nice book for little girls who still have living grandmas. The final copy will apparently have some stationery so the grandmother can write a letter to her granddaughter. That's fine, but it further limits the audience to kids who have good relationships with their grandmothers. As this is already aimed solely at girls with living grandmas, anything that further excludes potential readers might not be a great thing.

But if this book fits your needs, there's really nothing wrong with it. Similar books a grandma might want to check out for her grandkids are It's Good to Have a Grandma by Maryann Macdonald and Priscilla Burris or Grandma's Christmas Wish by Helen Foster James and Petra Brown, both of which approach the topic from a more gender-neutral perspective (for those grandmas who don't actually have any granddaughters).

This heartwarming story is written in rhyme and love flows through every page. Diverse Grandma's portray the special bond that they have with their precious little granddaughters.

"Of all the most marvelous things in this world

There are few that can truly compare

To the heartwarming, special, unbreakable bond

That a grandma and granddaughter share."

The text and illustrations immerse you in activities that the duo share as they spend quality time together. You see them in the garden, enjoying family photos, chatting over an ice cream sundae, splashing in the rain, and a grandma tucking her beloved offspring into bed at night and sealing it with a kiss, just to name a few.

Grandma has always been there every step of the her little granddaughter's life watching her grow and teaching her life lessons as she does. You see Grandma understands how that maturing process works because she's been there before herself and now she can pass her incredible wisdom on to her sweet granddaughter.

This lovely, heartfelt picture book highlights the unconditional love that a grandma has for her special granddaughter.

"You will change and you'll grow - and how far you will go-
in this wide open, wonder-filled world.
And I'll be here for you with a love deep and true,
because YOU are your grandma's best girl."

"Grandma's Girl" is highly recommended by Storywraps.

This book was a sweet, precious story of the special relationship between a grandma and granddaughter. It’s spoken from the grandma’s POV as she shares life advice and wisdom with her granddaughter, while letting her know how much she’s loved. It’s the perfect gift for any grandma and her granddaughter!

Grandma's Girl, by Susanna Leonard Hill, is an adorable picture book about the special love between a grandmother and her granddaughter.

While I was reading this book, I didn't get through more than three pages before I was texting my mom about this book that she had to have! She responded instantly asking how she can get a copy for each of her granddaughters.

Grandma's Girl is one of those picture books that every grandmother that has a granddaughter will want her collection. It makes the perfect gift, and I cannot wait to watch my mom curl up with her three granddaughters to read this sweet picture book. It is one of those books that are meant to make memories.

Throughout the story, you will see lots of grandmas and granddaughters sharing their love and exploring all kinds of activities and adventures. The illustrations are beautiful, and the words on the pages will touch your heart.

What I love the most about this book was the conscious decision to include all types of grandmas and their granddaughters. The illustrations include grandmas and granddaughters representing all ages, cultures, and ethnicities. This deliberate choice is brilliant, and it makes this book universal for all grandmas and granddaughters.

Having become a grandma in the last 2 years I read this book with joy. It's beautiful and I will definitely purchase a copy when it's released. My grandma's girl is my greatest joy and I will love sharing this with her.

Well, I won't be buying this. But that's only because I don't have a family of my own and am never going to be a grandma. It's actually a delightful rhyming message of love and companionship over the years, addressing the fact that a granddaughter will face a lot, but can get through everything – just as her older relatives have already had to do. It's a charming, spirited verse, and will seem quite heartfelt and personal for a mass-produced message, like the best astrology readings. In that regard, it's a little peculiar to see it come from a children's publisher, and to have the blurb speak to the young reader, when this will be what gran buys, signs to personalise and gives away. This could be thought of as just an extended well-wishing card, but it's a very good one indeed. A strong four stars.

This would be a sweet gift for the holidays.

I wish the writing was tighter but I loved the underlying messages and the art / representation. It’s great to have a book that highlights how special grandma and granddaughter relationships are !! Definitely not written about enough.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4 stars.

If you are looking for a great picture book about love among family members, then this is definitely one to pick up. It's quite an emotional read really because it's so heartfelt. It starts out as a tale about a grandmother's love for her granddaughter and how they are both so similar, but it ends with a compassionate message about how special you are and to remind you to love yourself. I liked how it linked two things into one book. The pictures are rather softly coloured and gently detailed. This is definitely a great book and one I would read to every little (and big) child.
