This novel was quite intriguing and fun to read. It definitely grips you right from the start with a fast paced storyline. Definitely recommend.

The Last Flight is one of the most thrilling books I’ve read in a long while. Rich, well developed characters and a solid, well thought out plot take you on a wild journey as these two women swap places, each one running from her own demons and expecting a happy result. A well-written, suspenseful, edge-of-your-seat thriller that will leave you breathless at times in anticipation of the next twist in the plot. Don’t start reading this book if you are not prepared to stay up all night as you follow these two women through the events that lead to its surprise ending.
It is an interesting look into the question of whether in this digital age, where we are constantly monitored, can one ever really leave their past behind?
Thank you to NetGalley and SourceBooks Landmark who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Last Flight is the story of Eva and Claire, two women in untenable positions, who find in each other a way out. But when fate gets in the way, a split-second decision turns out to bring more consequences than even they could have guessed.
That's the premise of Last Flight, and most of that occurs in the first few chapters. It's then that we delve into the why of it all - who are these women, and what could have pushed them to this point? Told in alternating chapters (and timelines), what looked black and white initially quickly murks into shades of grey, and the type of situations that feel all too plausible despite the high stakes.
Both characters are easy to like, whatever you think of their life choices - Julie Clark has done an excellent job of providing each of them with a unique voice, but keeping them in harmony to gel the two into a chorus for the novel. Never did anything feel unreasonable or too much; instead, I was pulled along through this story at breakneck pace. And it wasn't the usual feeling that books of this genre give me - impatience at wanting to get through the fluff to just find out what happened - no, this wasn't using story to delay a payoff, but instead the story was the payoff.
It's a thoroughly enjoyable book, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

First thing: read this book.
Even if you’ve read a ton of female driven suspense #metoo books recently and are tired of the narrative, READ THIS BOOK ANYWAY. (Also read The Night Swim by Megan Goldin already voted a RSR book club pick of 2020)
Claire has been planning in secret to escape her abusive husband who is from a powerful political family. She has planned it down to the detail until a last minute change of plans by her husband forces Claire into the ultimate course of destiny. When she meets Eva in line at the airport, Claire and Eva hatch a plan to exchange their destinations.
We only requested The Last Flight by Julie Clark because we’d received several book club questions about it and the buzz they’d been hearing. Several want to make it their June book club read, so we decided to dig in and SUPER THANKFUL we did.
The book unfolds so well that I personally would stop, fix my coffee or tea, ponder the circumstances I’d just read and what they could mean. I was never confused at the back and forth between Claire and Eva because it written so well.
I loved this book! The suspense was so enthralling I couldn’t wait for the next opportunity to pick it up. I have no doubt it’ll be a huge summer book of 2020 for all the clubs!
Thanks Sourcebooks Landmark and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this book. From the very beginning, I was immediately hooked. Stayed up all night to finish it and am glad I did!

The story revolves around Claire Cook who’s trying to escape her abusive husband, Rory Cook. Rory comes from old money and is currently running for senate.
So she devises a plan with the help of her childhood friend, Petra Federotov, whom she accidentally ran into at a gym. Petra’s brother, Nico also helps procure a fake ID with a new identity for Claire.
But how can she plan a successful escape when virtually all her husband’s staffs—from the maid to Rory’s personal assistant—are fiercely loyal to him and can report any slightest activity back to him?
Claire was scheduled for an event in Detroit and had Petra ship the items she would be needling to make her escape—passport, forty-thousand dollars cash, fake ID and so on—to the hotel she would be staying at. But by rotten luck, Rory changes her itinerary last minute; Claire would be heading to puerto Rico instead while Rory would be headed to Detroit.
At the airport, Claire calls the hotel in Detroit to find out if a package had arrived for her. When she learns it had and that Rory had picked it up, she becomes frantic with worry. Immediately she calls Petra to share her concerns and they both come up with a quick plan to salvage the situation.
Unbeknownst to Claire, a woman named Eva James who ws standing next to her at the airport overheard their conversation. Apparently Eva is on the run as well. She sees this opportunity to trade tickets with Claire.
The story is told from the POV of Claire and Eva. This is just one of those books that pulls you in immediately and you have to keep reading to find out what happens. Overall, a good read. Would recommend.

I really enjoyed this book! I loved the two main characters, Claire and Eva, and the dual narratives. The author did a great job of telling each woman's story and in a way that made me feel like I knew the characters and I genuinely cared about each woman. I could not stop reading until I reached the last page because I had to know what happened with Claire and Eva! Although, I have to mention that I hated to reach the end, because I could have happily kept on reading. I am definitely eager to read more from Julie Clark!

The Last Flight had me hooked from the very beginning. It weaves together the stories of Claire and Eva before and after a fateful day at JFK and a tragic plane crash. One story line tells of the escape and the aftermath of escaping while the other tells what a young woman is running from— what would cause her to leave the life that she knew behind.
The undercurrents of female friendship, the #metoo movement, and empowerment to step out from the shadows made this more than your traditional thriller. The author really makes you feel for the two narrators and put yourself in their shoes and imagine the decisions you would make if faced with the same situation.
I recommend The Last Flight. It’s an intriguing page turner that keeps you hooked until the very last page.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for the advanced copy

Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC and an honest review...
Two courageous women Claire and Eva need to shed their old lives and disappear. This book tells the story of what happens when by chance their lives intersect. Told alternately the story reveals what happens when each becomes the other. A very satisfying and suspenseful book.

I requested this one because the plot seemed interesting, not knowing much about it, or honestly expecting much. To my surprise, I was hooked after the first few chapters! I was instantly pulled in, wanting to learn about Claire and Eva's troubles and what they were running away from. Julie Clark wrote these characters perfectly. I felt so strongly for both of them and desperately wanted things to work out in their favor. The twists in this one were great. I did not see a lot of it coming and the ending was brilliantly and beautifully written. The underlying themes of the #metoo movement, feminism, and female friendship were great additions to the story that really strengthened it's hold on my heart and made it more than just a simple thriller/suspense story.
I highly recommend The Last Flight! I think this will be one of those books we'll be seeing a lot of this year. I definitely will be keeping an eye out for more of Clark's work in the future. She deserves lots of praise for this one!
4 stars
Thank you to Netgalley, Julie Clark, and the publisher for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

4.5 stars. Thank you @NetGalley and @SourceBooks for an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The Last Flight by Julie Clark is about two women, Claire and Eva. Claire is married to a politician from a powerful political dynasty. They live in a lavish residence on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan along with a ton of staff and the whole nine yards. On the outside, they have the perfect marriage but behind closed doors, it is anything but that. Claire’s husband is abusive and bent on controlling every aspect of her life. He is also dangerous, so the possibility of her leaving him is risky to her safety and he is a powerful man with resources that will stop at nothing. Because of these circumstances, Claire has been working for months on a plan to disappear.
While at the airport, Claire coincidentally meets Eva, a woman who is equally as desperate to escape the circumstances of a difficult life. Together, they decide to switch tickets. The plan is for Claire to head to Oakland and Eva to travel to Puerto Rico. Their plan was just to get a head start to start new lives. Claire makes it to Oakland only to find out that Eva's plane that was traveling to Puerto Rico went down leaving no survivors. Now Claire has no choice but to assume Eva's identity as well as take upon everything Eva was trying to escape.
If you are looking for a fast-paced thriller with tons of twists and turns, this is not the book for you. Although I was on the edge of my seat and eager to know what’s coming next throughout the book, I will say it was more on the slow but suspenseful end of the spectrum. The suspense intensified with the progression of the plot. I think the author’s pace was brilliant. She made sure to dish out the twists at exactly the right times, hooking the reader along. The second half of the book speeds along - one thing after another. I LOVED the twists at the end of the book.
The characters of the two women were so well-developed and likable. This book spoke on issues very relevant today with the #MeToo movement. I love when books have a message and can act as a vessel for social commentary on issues that matter.

The Last Flight has twists and turns and incredible suspense. It leaves you guessing until the very last chapter.
Julie Clark’s plotting is amazing. Claire’s current circumstances and Eva’s past situation weave together so effortlessly. As the story develops you will not be able to put this book down until the final word.
No “girl” in the title. No “unreliable narrator”. This is a suspense thriller with two intelligent, capable, and resilient women. The female friendships in this book were supportive and inspiring. Claire and Eva have grown desperate enough to plan to disappear from their lives. A chance meeting (or is it?) gives each the opportunity to make a big change.
There are so many great lines in this book:
“In this world, money and power were equivalent to immunity.”
“Everything you ever wanted is on the other side of fear.”
“If you pay attention, solutions always appear. But you have to be brave enough to see them.”
“Sometimes, the death of a dream can finally set you free.”
“If we don’t tell our own stories, we’ll never take control of the narrative.”
“The world didn’t need to hear my story, but I needed to tell it.”

This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through, I needed to keep reading to find out what would happen.

I really enjoyed the back in forth in time between Claire and Eva. It was very well done and never confusing. The story flowed in an exciting way, there was never a dull moment and you're always wondering is this when something bad happens ? I enjoyed both characters they felt realistic, flawed and you could feel the hardships they dealt throughout their lives. They are very likeable tough, strong and strive to do better for themselves without complaining the whole way through which I love. For me the thing that would've made it even more enjoyable would've been a more twisty, intense ending.

Overall a really great enjoyable read that you will not want to put down.

Totally absorbing read. Stayed in all day to read it. Hope to see more from this author.
Plot and characters were very well done.

This book is a suspenseful character driven novel by strong women. The story hooks you from the beginning and the author ratchets up the suspense as the plot progresses. I am sure it will be in high demand especially with the #MeToo dominating the news cycle. #TheLastFlight #Julie Clark #NetGalley

This book was incredible—engaging, suspenseful and thrilling! I literally couldn’t stop reading because I was so anxious to find out what happened next. That’s a great sign for a mystery/thriller! I highly recommend!

Claire Cook has the perfect life, or so it seems from the outside. She is married to the scion of a political family dynasty. He wants everything and everyone to be flawless. After a few years of marriage, his temper gets the better of him and Claire is on the receiving end of his brutal physical attacks. She knows the only way out is to run somewhere she can’t be found. She plans for a year and sends everything she will need ahead to the hotel she will be staying at for a meeting her husband is sending her to in Detroit. At the last minute her husband decides to go to the venue instead of sending Claire. Claire is being sent to another meeting in Puerto Rico. She calls the hotel to stop the envelope with the information she is leaving but they have already given it to her husband when he arrived. Claire know that as soon as he opens the envelope she is dead.
Eva needs to leave town fast. A chance meeting in the airport bar with Claire gives them both a way out. They will trade boarding passes and switch flights. Eva will go to Puerto Rico and Claire will go to Oakland. Everything seems perfect until the Puerto Rico flight crashes in the ocean with no survivors. Claire decides to become Eva for a while until she figures out what to do without the money and fake passport that are now in her husband’s procession. She quickly realizes that Eva’s story might not have been truthful and people seem to be watching her.
The story is told from two perspectives: Claire’s after she lands in Cleveland and Eva’s story leading up to her getting on the plane. This is a well written, leave you on the edge of your seat thriller. The plot is well thought out and the characters are relatable. This is an explosive read that will have you captivated until the end. I highly recommend this amazing story!
Many Thanks to SourceBooks Landmark and NetGalley for a twisty ride!

Thank you so much for this ARC!
OBSESSED!!!! This was so good from the very first page. I couldn't put this book down and was so sad when it was over. I enjoyed learning about Eva and Claire and how their lives intersected and changed each other.
Really fabulous twist, loved how the characters came together - I was not expecting it!
Cannot wait to see what Julie Clark writes next!!

This is a fascinating story of 2 women, both in crisis who switch identities. The narrative moves between Eva and Clare, both trying to escape the horrors of their lives by switching identities, precipitously at an airport.
There are constant twists and turns, which kept me engaged. The use of coincidences did give me pause, since it struck me a bit simplistic.
I know that book clubs will enjoy the book. The focus on spousal abuse and the ME TOO factor make it timely.
Without a doubt, this will be a big summer read. Enjoy.
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

This was quite a ride! Definitely an above-average domestic thriller. I will be looking for other books by this author.
