“If we don’t tell our own stories, we’ll never take control of the narrative.”

Two women, both trying to run away from their lives, meet at an airport and switch flights... and in turn, trade identities. However, both identities come with dangerous consequences...

I loved this book! It’s told from both woman’s perspectives and is not only a fast-paced suspense read, but totally intriguing and her writing will have you rooting for women everywhere!

The opening of this novel is tension filled as Claire Cook, rich socialite and abused wife, tries desperately to complete a plan to escape her marriage. When things begin to fall apart, a chance encounter at the airport with another desperate woman, changes both their paths and sets the story in motion.

The alternating story lines of Eva and Claire give us a back story as well as a current time line to take us through to the end. It shines a light on how difficult circumstances can cause people to resort to desperate measures.

I sat down to read the first couple of chapters of this book and got totally sucked in right away. Eva and Claire are both very compelling characters, and the introduction of their characters draws the reader in immediately. i could clearly see them, especially the moment for each that the new reality of their lives set in. Incredible storytelling; this should be a book on the list of every reader who loves domestic suspense or any type of suspense, and women's fiction.

Okay, this was really good...

Two women in crisis meet at the airport and decide to switch tickets and escape their terrible circumstances.

Claire has choreographed her escape from abusive, douchey, Senate-seeking husband Rory with microscopic precision.

But her plans disintegrate at the last minute forcing her to punt on the fly and well, what if what she's getting is worse than what she has?

I loved that I felt smug about knowing what was happening but then got slapped into my place!

Thank you to Julie Clark, Sourcebooks Landmark and NetGalley for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Page turning thriller centered on two strong female protagonists. Alternating time lines over the course of 6 months, centered on the Claire and Eva meeting in an airport lounge and deciding to swap boarding passes. High tension and actino, I plowed through this in one day, unwilling to put it down. Highly recommend for fans of psychological fiction.

What an amazing book by Julie Clark. I could not put this one down! I loved the settings as well as Claire and Eva, and their stories. I especially liked how their stories intertwined in the middle of the story. Cannot wait to recommend this great read! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy.

One of my favourite thrillers on 2020! The book was clever, twisty and was always two steps ahead of whatever I was thinking or what I thought I had figured out. One I will be recommending for a while!

Claire is married to high profile politician Rory Cook, and lives in a gorgeous Manhattan townhouse with a large staff to help run things. A seemingly perfect life.
But her model husband is secretly a cold and controlling, brutal man.
Eva is struggling to make ends meet. After being kicked out of school, she desperately embarks on a moneymaking career path that leads her straight into peril.
A fateful meeting between the two at an airport lounge leads to a decision to swap plane tickets, with Clair going to Oakland and Eva to Puerto Rico. When the flight to Puerto Rico crashes, Claire assumes Eva's identity and also the danger she was in.
This fast paced psychological thriller was gripping and powerful. An outstanding and impressive read.

Wow, what an incredible read! I loved it from the beginning to the end and struggled to put it down.

"Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine. Meantime the world goes on"

This is a story about two women. Its a story about courage and standing up for yourself and doing the right thing. Abuse can take on many forms and in this story, we meet Claire and Eva who are both trying to get away from a difficult situation. Claire is married to an abusive man who is in the public eye. Eva is involved in the manufacturing and selling of drugs with no way of getting out. All that both of them want to do is just disappear but even the most carefully worked out plans can go wrong. Will a meeting at an airport make these wishes come true and how difficult is it really to disappear? How easy is it to shed your skin and become a new person? AND......was Eva on the plane or not?!

A brilliant mystery thriller/domestic noir. I will definitely look out for more books from this author!

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion

What a fun, brisk summer thriller. It’s really clever and a real pulse pounding book. The end is a bit convenient, but it allows for justice for Claire, and a way to tie it up.. happy to chat it up, and ready for the next one.

Yup! Add this one to your BOTM pick for June, buy it or it add it to any wish lists you have going.

Author Julie Clark has written The Last Flight with two very strong and determined female characters who are making plans to escape dangerous situations that are controlled by men. Knowing they can’t trust the system to take them seriously they take the details into their own hands.

This book is full of suspense and will keep you turning the pages AND offers the reader some great writing about the relationships between women. The men in this book are written as background characters. I loved the alternating POVs and the moving forward in time format.

I highly recommend this suspense/women’s fiction read and will be telling all to read it. That includes you @pomonancyo

A quick read, suspenseful. I found the character better drawn than Eve. I found myself skimming through the chapters in Eve’s voice. A good summer beach read. Just enough suspense to keep you interested.

What a story!
I read about this book back in the winter from the pub lunch deluxe Buzz Books Spring/Summer feature. This list is published on Amazon and one of my fav places to find new upcoming titles.
The plot line attracted me as a fun, summer, pool-side thriller. But this book turned into so much more than that.

Don't get me wrong--the story read fast and fun, but there were much deeper ideas woven through the pages. The main plot line is about a women in the public eye whose husband secretly abuses her emotionally and physically. The scenes themselves are not too graphic if that is something you don't want to read. This book portrays an unlikely story of two women coming together, seeming randomly though secrets are revealed up until the very end), and switching plane tickets to try and make a new life for themselves. They both need to escape demons following them.

It transforms from a runaway thriller into a cautionary tale about loneliness and the lengths a woman will go to in order to survive. Julie Clark wrote a tremendous novel. The book also communicates a message of unrecognized power within women, especially broken woman. The characters learn how to take a stand for their life and not allow controlling men or less than ideal circumstances take away their power.
The ending was absolutely bone-chilling and dissolved all my assumptions about where characters were in the book. I loved every minute of it.

FANTASTIC READ! I've seen this book advertised as a psychological thriller which is what I expected going into it, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it's more of suspense meets women's fiction. Can you imagine being so desperately trapped in a dangerous situation that you're willing to risk everything to change your identity and leave your life behind? That is the predicament that Claire, trying to escape her abusive husband, and Eva, trying to escape her dicey career, find themselves when their paths cross in an airport bar and they decide to exchange boarding passes. But will this split-second decision lead them to the safety they both doggedly pursue or will danger continue to follow them? Told from two different perspectives on two different timelines, The Last Flight is an addictive read with two vulnerable yet strong female leads that will keep you on the edge of your seat, rushing to discover how it all plays out.

It’s been a tough year for thrillers. But after seeing so many fabulous reviews for this book, I knew I had to pick this one up! I was becoming desperate for the elusive five-star thriller! And, drum roll...... I got it!!!🤩

Claire is trapped in an abusive relationship. And it won't be easy for her to just skip away. Her husband is well known, powerful and influential in the political circles.

Poor Eva’s life has never been an easy journey. But somehow, she managed to earn her way into prestigious Berkeley, only to find herself tripping and falling once again. Oh, and by the way… she’s running for her life now too! Who exactly is she running from, and why?

These two unfortunate, desperate women are about to collide in a way that will see their lives and futures change forever.

I was completely enmeshed in this book from start to finish. Unputdownable!
Julie Clark writes a fantastic, suspense-filled tale with a full complement of clever twists and even a few monster jaw-dropping moments!

As I was reading, I kept thinking there are a few loose ends here that are going to be left dangling. There’s no way possible to explain them. Sooo... once again I was preparing myself to end this book on a frustrating note. Duped again! BUT… Julie Clark filled in every blank and wrapped every frayed end into a beautiful shiny bow.🎁

I can’t wait to see what Ms. Clark comes up next! More from this very talented author please!
