I can see lots of people finding this story charming and sweet; who doesn't love romance and magic, and Christmas no less. But it wasn't really my cup of coffee. Maybe it was because it was too short and just scratched the surface of what the story could have been or it was just not the tale for me.

I loved my romance with a touch of the mystical and this had it all. A cursed Barista, the witch who wants to break the spell and the evil witch who wants to stop her.
I recommend this book to all. A great holiday romance.
Thank you Jo-Ann Carson, JRT Publications and NetGalley for allowing me this advance copy in exchange for my honest feedback.

Oscar, a cursed barista can't find love, Annabelle is a witch who intends to fix him and love him. If only she can help him first. This story by Jo-Ann Carson is the perfect quick and corky holiday read. I fell for the characters right away and couldn't help rooting for them at every turn of the page. I definitely recommend this one.

This was a really quick read and quite fun too. It happened during Christmas time and this one had some magic involved has the characters are witches which was something different.
Oscar and Annabelle work at a café where they lace the coffees they make with some magic to warm the hearts of the people they serve and make their wishes to somehow to come true.

Oscar is hot and kind and has every woman falling at his feet but for some reason he is single, he only does one night stands and never, never goes out with the same woman again.

Annabelle is a beauty herself and she falls in love with Oscar right away and the more she is with him the more in love she is with him but Oscar? He won't even look at her and go out with her. So Annabelle comes up with a plan, she gives Oscar a Christmas present and he cannot refuse, three blind dates. The third date will be here.

But what she doesn't know is that Oscar has been cursed by a dark sorceress when is was just a teenager, will she be able to figure out and break the spell in time?

The story line was cute and it had lots of potential, but it happened so fast, I felt like I wanted more. But overall? It was a cute Christmas book to read, and I recommend it.

This is a short and sweet Holiday romance set in a magical town called Mystic Keep. Annabelle and Oscar are both hopelessly attracted to each other, but Oscar has closed himself off – with good reason. Belle is determined to win him over though and her plan might just work. All she has to do is break the curse that was placed on him by a jealous witch. What could go wrong?

Blind Date for Christmas is the perfect read if you’re in the mood for something short, sweet and full of magic. 😉

A funny holiday romance novella set in the mystical town where witches, dragons and such are common place. When Belle decides she wants a change, she shows up at the coffee shop to become a barista. Seeing hunky Oscar she knows who she wants. He wants her too, but is cursed so the game is on. A fun story, and enjoyed it, but felt a few areas could have been expanded on, for example the curse itself, the crazy witch who did it, and also Sanjay could have been defined more. Especially if this is the first book you read in the series a few areas may seem a little confusing. Minor overall though, and would still highly recommend this book and author.

Closely connected to Jo-Ann Carson's Perfect Brew series, this is a lighthearted novella that is a quick sweet read. The plot is simplistic and lacks depth, but that happens with novellas, the story suffers for its length.

If you are a fan of sweet romances with a paranormal element, then this is a book for you. The characters are likeable, there is plenty of humour and Mystic Keep is a town with mystery.

A Blind Date for Christmas by Jo-Ann Carson is a novella rom-com, that was just OK to me. This book is a fantasy/paranormal Christmas story about two witch Annabelle Gibson and Oscar Andersson and breaking spells to find ever after love. I seem to be in the minority about this book, so many people loved it, so you might want to give it a quick read.

I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Thank you.

This is a cute, funny, super-quick supernatural novella that connects closely to Jo-Ann Carson's The Perfect Brew. This story introduces you to a wonderful supernatural world - without getting a lot of depth. It only seems to scratch the surface of the possibilities in this world. Oscar was cursed many years ago by a very nasty witch who wanted him to be bonded to her and no one else. As a result, he can't fall in love and has had nothing but a string of first dates. Annabelle (Belle) is a new barista at the supernatural coffeehouse in Mystic Keep. Belle almost immediately falls in love with Oscar - and he feels strongly about her too. So much so, that he doesn't want to date her because that will be the end between them.

Belle pretty quickly figures out something is wrong in the scenario - and takes steps to try and figure things out. with the help of Sanjay from The Perfect Brew - everything turns out ok and the spell is broken.

There isn't a whole lot of depth to this novella (as you might expect) and not a whole lot of time spent building the relationship between Belle and Oscar. But it is sweet, funny and very enjoyable.

It is only tangentially connected to Christmas - and really could have been set any time of year! It could definitely be a hallmark movie in the making tho!!

I received this as a free ARC from NetGalley - but these opinions are my own!

I was on the hunt for a good Christmas love story and then Netgalley gave me the opportunity to review this beauty!
My review in 10:
1. A blend of mix and fantasy
2. A quick Christmas read
3. Good dialogue
4. It's a short story, maybe that's why there was very little character build up and description of scenes
5. Will definitely make you fall in love with Warlocks
6. A range of diverse characters, but one too many blondes
7. The scene build up could've been much better, I think. Especially climax and intimate scenes
8. The Christmas magic was missing
9. A really good story to get out of a reading slump and divulge in some magic!
10. Some might root for the protagonist, I rooted for someone else!

Sometimes you just want to curl up by the fire in your favorite chair with a sweet romance book in your hands. This short book was just that and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It takes place in a small town called Mystic Keep. Annabelle is the new barista at Perfect Brew, a magical coffee shop that is a safe haven for all the supernatural beings. Oscar, the handsome barista, can't find love due to a sorceress’s dark magic. Will Annabelle help Oscar break the curse? Find out in this charming romance by Jo-Ann Carson.

When Annabelle /Belle landed a job as a barista at The Perfect brew she knew her life was about to change. She just didn’t know how much. Rumor ran in the witch world about the unusual coffee house, believed to be a safe haven for supernaturals beings. If the place provided a true sanctuary for supernatural beings, it would be a miracle. Belle being insatiably curious she had to find out for herself. Belle did her research. The Brew was built on an energy nexus In Mystic Keep. which was a cliff high above the ocean Cassie Black, a witch from a distinguished line and Sanjay khan a royal warlock, ran the establishment. They combined their magic to make a haven for supernaturals stronger and safer every day. Belle considered her options, working in the family hair salon business had lost its luster . If she had to deal with one more complaining client she might stick a curling iron in her ear, or worse theirs. She needed a change. What’s the worst that could happen? It could turn out to be a dump. Or worse she could find herself pulled into a wobble in the nexus energy. But with her refined witch skills she could always transport herself back home. When she got to The Brew the aroma of freshly baked scones, good coffee, and magic welcomed Belle. The smells were heaven to a kitchen witch. She was greeted by Oscar and all her lady parts wake up. Her heart skipped a beat as her eyes locked with a tall blonde man. A flow of warmth spread between them. The man was Michelangelo - magnificent and he was smiling back at her. He said he knew the brew was a lot to take in, at first. But she’d get used to eat in no time. As gently as he could Oscar checked out Belle. He loved what he saw. His familiar who was an old Tomcat named Munchkin asked him if he remembered, Oscar said of course he remembered the curse. But it didn’t stop him from looking at women or tasting the forbidden fruit. There was something about Belle that drew him. Something different. He couldn’t deny his response to Annabelle Gibson. He followed her out of the kitchen. The quickening of Oscar’s pulse surprised him as he hadn’t even touched Annabelle yet. Munch said “ Your friend Gilbert said she was dangerous. A real heartbreaker with a long track record. Miles away a wicked sorceress Venomilia starred in her crystal ball and said Annabelle Gibson can’t have him, he is mine. She snarled to her pet crow than added he will stay hers forever. Venomilia was a formidable mistress of black magic. Belle had been working at The Perfect Brew for three weeks and working there was the best job belle ever had. The crew if baristas was not only fun to hang out with, they were also skilled kitchen witches. Every day she learned something new. The goal of the coffee house was to create the perfect brew for each client, which wasn’t easy. In an instant, she had to figure out what the client wanted, make it, and give the brew to them. It took a bit of the sight, a bit of worldly knowledge and a good understanding of potions. But she had a knack for it. For the first time Belle felt like she had come into her own, or as her mother would say, she had found her magic. Belle felt Oscar was an amazing man. Oscar went out in the kayak in the night with Munch . Oscar told Munch he really really liked Annabelle. Munch said the simple fact was since the day Annabelle walked into Oscar’s life he hadn’t been able to think straight. Oscar was cursed and couldn’t fall in love. At first it didn’t bother oscar, he enjoyed women and they enjoyed him. As time went on, Oscar wanted more than a string of one night stands. Three months of flirting got Belle nowhere with Oscar. Today she would change things when confronts him.
I loved this book. It was a romantic sweet read. It did feel rushed to me especially at the ending. I really would have liked to see more of Belle and Oscar together. Oscar was such a sweet and caring man. I was so glad when the curse was broken. I was glad when Venomilia was dealt with. I loved the plot. I really liked the characters and ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.

Annabelle (Belle) Gibson is bored and fed up with working in the family hair salon. Rumors of an enchanted coffee house built on an energy nexus and believed to be a safe haven for all supernatural beings is too intriguing for her to ignore. She transports herself to a world of good coffee, magic, and Oscar, cursed to never fall in love barista at The Perfect Brew.

This short story is a standalone that continues from the Perfect Brew Cozy Series. When Belle falls in love with Oscar, she hatches a plan. Using the power of the solstice she plans to forge her way into Oscar’s heart by setting him up on three blind dates - the final one is with her. This is a short story with lots of humor and magic creatures. It was a quick and easy read and I rated it four stars only because I enjoyed the story but would have liked to see it developed a little further.
