Thank you to the author and publisher for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review. When I first saw the cover of this book, I was in awe of the contrast and beauty. Then I saw the title and was reminded of the biblical symbolism from Noah's Ark. I finally read the book and was so intrigued and love that this is a YA Fantasy the involves angels and magic. I really loved that this story had disable representation and had the theme that intellect is just as important as physical strength. This was such a fun read. I can't wait to read more.

This cover is so beautiful and the premise is just as good! I liked the both MCs but their instalove is sure to put readers out a little bit. That being said I thoroughly enjoyed this and will definitely pick up #2.

The Dove and the Raven is a star-crossed lover story with an adventure twist. Introducing a wide range of characters and situations. It leaves very little room to get bored.

Full of friendship, trust, love and betrayals all in one exciting story. A smooth fast pace and fantasy theme brings it together nicely. It’s also a great build up as the start of a series.
Fantasy lovers will enjoy this one and will not want to put it down.

I received an advanced copy through netgalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Unfortunately this book was not for me. The cover drew me in, but I felt like it was too long and drawn out. I had to put the book down and move on to other stories, but I know there will be many others who like this one.

I lost interest for now but I might try to read this at a later time because the synopsis still does sound like it might be a great story..

I really enjoyed the first half of this book! I thought the concept was unique and characters were interesting. But about halfway through the development seemed to stall and I found myself really struggling to stay focused and engaged. I think that might have just been the set up for the finale or preparing for the events in the second book but it did cause me to lose interest at times.

Compared to the other books I've read by Kaitlyn Davis, this was a real disappointment. I absolutely loved "Gathering Frost" and the rest of that series, so I expected more from "The Raven and the Dove." Instead, I found in this book to be a depressing, sad read. I'm familiar with the story of Tristan and Isolde, but I was hoping for something happier.

If I hadn't simultaneously been listening to the audiobook, I don't think I could have finished reading this. It was dreary and nothing piqued my interest about "The Raven and the Dove." Although it was set in an interesting world, it didn't fascinate me like other fantasy worlds have. I found it more odd than anything. The characters were also sorely lacking. Cassi was just... well, I can't say for risk of spoilers, but every chapter in her point of view made me want to bang my head on the wall. And my heart broke for Lyana, Rafe, and Xander. But that's the problem - instead of liking the characters, I just pitied them.

That said, I still want to know what happens next, so I'll probably end up listening to the audiobook of the sequel. I have a feeling that there will eventually be a happy ending.

I need the second book – immediately.

There is so much happening in this book and so many questions left to be answered, I can’t wait to see how it all ties together. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

Lyana is the princess of the Doves and must choose a mate at the upcoming courtship trials. She is curious, brave and adventurous, and sneaks out to see the arrival of the other houses. While she is hiding, she witnesses a violent dragon attack on the house of Ravens. Rafe, pretending to be his brother and rightful heir to the Raven throne, is nursed back to health by Ana (Lyana) using a forbidden magic they both share. From there, sparks fly!

The story is told from multiple perspectives and I didn’t find it to be overwhelming. Each character is distinctly separate from the other. I feel I learned the most from Cassie’s perspective, and felt the most from Rafe’s.

After discovering the Raven’s deception, Lyana begins preparations for her marriage to Lysander, yet continues to find herself drawn to Rafe. I loved the chemistry between these two so much. Their connection just felt genuine. I also really enjoyed exploring Cassie and Lysander’s stories. There’s just so much interesting back story for these characters that was worth diving into.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this rambling, I’m just really excited to see what happens next. The ending gives a bit of resolution, but it was also a bit heartbreaking, and a touch confusing.

I need the next book in my hands immediately! The angst and playfulness of the characters throughout this story is amazing. Such a wonderful setting and world, and I loved the history.

Hello Gemmies! I have an exciting book review to share with you today. Please note: I received a digital ARC of this book (via NetGalley) from its publisher in exchange for an honest and fair review.

The Raven and the Dove by Kaitlyn Davis is a new YA fantasy fairytale and the first book in The Raven and the Dove series. This unique retelling of the classic Tristan and Isolde fairytale felt very fresh and new. It was so much more than I expected. This story was captivating and full of twists, turns, action, and magic. What originally attracted me was the beautiful cover, but I quickly fell in love with the world building. It is vast, eloquent, lush, and full of amazing details. I found myself quickly immersed in it. The plot was well done, with so many layers that included politics, romance, magic, and secrets within secrets.

The Raven and the Dove is also a well written character driven story with a diverse cast of characters that I found to be dynamic and complex. Cassi, Lyana, Xander, and Rafe are such interesting characters. I especially loved to hate Lyana.....hot tempered, feisty, immature, and full of attitude, every scene with her felt like a whirlwind. Cassi felt like the wildcard in the group and I am interested to see what happens to her next. There is so much going on with each person you will be kept guessing all the way until the end. Even though there was a lot going on, it didn't feel overwhelming. Raven and the Dove was perfectly paced. I found myself entertained throughout and flipping pages until the end. I am looking forward to continue on with the series.

If you are a fan of politics, entangled relationships, magic, brotherhood, destiny, and love, go read this book! This gem published by Kaitlyn Davis is available for purchase from all major booksellers. I give Raven and the Dove, 4 out of 5 gems. Happy Reading!

The Raven and the Dove by Kaitlyn Davis is a high tailed fantasy world with mix of romance, betrayal, finding one's truth, and the classic battle between good and evil. While I did enjoy the beginning of the novel with the introduction to the characters of Lyana and Race, the magnetic chemistry between them went from realistic to full blown "I'd die for you love" a bit too fast. The world building was amazing and kept me invested throughout each chapter. One thing I just wish was made clear was the destiny Lyana has that made the dwellers below want to start a war. I do understand that this is just the first installation of the series, but there were too many skips from "she's in peril" to "she has power"; it left too many questions and made me think that the author wasn't sure when and where she wanted those secrets to be revealed to the reader. All in all, I give the novel a solid 3 out of 5 stars for the originality and retelling of the tale of lovers Tristan and Isolde. I am intrigued to see what happens in the second novel, so I guess I'll be adding this series to my TBR list.

Quite honestly, I initially requested this book based on the cover alone.

The story was enjoyable enough, and certainly right for the high school age group. It had a very promising start and great build up, but the second half of the novel fell flat. The characters were frustrating, and it just was not nearly as fulfilling of an ending as I would have liked.

DNF. Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for this early copy! I decided to not keep reading this one, it was not for me. Thanks!

Omg this so great! I love the diversity and the character development.
This book as something you can (and will) definitely finish is one felt swoop slash sitting. The world building is so clean and clear that it's almost like watch a movie.

If you looking for a book with growth in all aspects characters and story. Has plot twists and mystery for days and enough to make you want more than this is the book for you and I definitely recommend it!

I started reading this one but didn't hold my interest. I though the concept was interesting but I wish I could have connected with the characters more.

Really loved our main characters and enjoyed their romance, however, I felt like the first half of the book really dragged as it was all character development and little to no plot. I think I understand everything going on in the sky world, but I don't think I have a grasp on what is happening on the ground. I'm guessing book two will clear that up.

If you're looking for a tale of love, friendship, and destiny that is going to rip your heart out, here it is. It has action, a great plot, and just the perfect blend of tropes we all love. Sometimes I was screaming at the characters because the communication was KILLING me but that's a me being impatient problem and not an author problem. Grab this book and then sit and wait for what feels like forever for the sequel.

I received this as an eARC and audiobook to read for free in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to The NetGalley and Kaitlyn Davis for giving me access.

At first I was super hesitant if I even wanted to read this. The cover definitely caught my attention but I was afraid that it would let me down, I was wrong. While it isn't my absolutely favorite read ever, it was still enjoyable.

I loved how the story ended, leaving you wanting more, but now to wait.

I love the premise of this book.
I just couldn't get into it. I don't think that I was feeling fantasy at the time I started this book, but I ended up not finishing it.
I do, however, want to try this book again at some point, hopefully before the end of the year, to see if I change my mind.
But unfortunately, I couldn't get into this book, despite wanting to.
I do think loads of other people will enjoy it, though, so I am giving it 3 stars.

I tried multiple times to get into this book but unfortunately it just wasn't for me.
I love that this is a retelling of a story that we don't usually see in YA fantasy and the concept is really interesting, I liked the different avian kingdoms, but I just couldn't connect with the story or the characters.
I can definitely see a lot of people really loving this, and it contained a lot of popular tropes, just unfortunately not ones I am personally a fan of.
However, I definitely recommend this as an interesting and unique YA fantasy with beautiful writing, and for fans of Sarah J Maas.
