I LOVED THIS COLLECTION! I have been following Catana Chetwynd's webcomics for a long time, and I was simply thrilled to hear that she was getting a book published. These comics are beautifully wonderful, and relatable and they just melt my heart. I love them! I can't wait to purchase a comic and read it with my husband.
A huge thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I greatly appreciate it!
I was a huge fan of this comic writer since Instagram and this book was just as cute and heart warming as I expected it to be.
Hola
Really cute & poignant cartoons; reminiscent of the Love Is... cartoons from the 80s. This would make a really nice gift
They will make anyone's heart fill with love
As I said previously for Catana's 'Little Moments of Love', Snug is a heartwarming chronicle of her life with her best friend/love. I can easily swing between he cynical and the magical, so reading such comics always helps me ground myself in the magical.
It also leaves me with a hope and yearning for a love like that. In any case, this definitely goes on my coffee table soon!
Catana Chetwynd is great at portraying the romanticism of little things and "Snug" is for those who, like her, see beauty even in the nonsense of everyday life shared with their loved one.
The B&W art is very simple, and the great merit of this book is to make us recognize ourselves in it. I didn't read Catana's first book, but I can say that this new one follows the same line as Philippa Rice's "Soppy", which is cute.
I've been following Catana and her work for a very long time, and I truly cannot get enough of her humor and art style! True to her brand, Snug is full of simple, albeit unbelievably adorable, illustrations that range from pure wholesome fluff to down-to-earth mundane realness. Her comics never fail to bring some sunshine into my day, and I cannot stress how much I enjoyed flipping through the pages of Snug.
I'll definitely keep an eye out for her succeeding comic collections!

* I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
It’s funny because when I read Catana’s previous graphic novel, Little Moments of Love, I wasn’t really a graphic novel reader. In 2019, however, I read a loooot (Saga, anyone?). As a longtime followers of her Instagram account, I was looking forward to her latest graphic novel, Snug.
I love love love Catana’s art style. It’s simple, but cute. She sometimes adds colour or shading to emphasize something specific in a panel. It’s just quirky and cute, and it lends itself to the tone and theme of the book overall. The big heads and large eyes are so stinking cute it’s impossible not to smile or laugh.
The content itself is relatable and adorable. Too cute for words. If you’re awkward, love food and naps, this book is for you. It is heavily focused on her relationship with her boyfriend, but there are comics just about her to balance it out nicely. It’s a sweet, light graphic novel that made me laugh and smile in equal measure. That’s probably why her work is so successful.
One thing to note about this collection is that the comics have previously been posted on he Instagram, so if you follow her there you’ll probably recognize most of them. I kept wondering why it seemed repetitive, but really it’s just that I’d seen a lot of them before. As long as you’re okay with that, and want to own the comics or gift them to your partner, then this won’t be a problem. Overall, it’s a quick read sure to bring a smile to your face.
I like the author's drawing style very much, it is one of the fortes of the book in my opinion. In this book we could see the quirks of being with a partner. As written in the blurb, there is 50 percent new content (would have been better if it was 100 percent...). Since I have not read anything previously from this author - nor do I follow her on social media as I like to look at these drawings in collected form - it was not such a huge hindrance to me, but others might find it a little annoying, even as a rip-off. Other than the used content, I do not have problem with it, the drawings are cute, everyday scenes that most couples experience from time to time. The main character is relatable.
Catana Chetwynd has such a cute art style and great sense of humour. I'd seen her work on Twitter and her website before reading this collection of her "dating her bestie" comics. Such a cute look at her relationship with John. Full of random slice-of-life moments. A fun and adorable collection!
I received an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Let me first say that I adore these small comic collections and they always tend to put a smile on my face.
I love the simplicity of the art style in this series and that while it is more simplistic it still gets across the feelings and emotions it's going for. I found as I turned each page that the situations the two are going through are very relatable and made me realize that even when I have felt like a situation has made me feel alone others have gone through the same thing. It was also fun to see the different dynamics in their relationship and see similarities and differences in my own experiences.
In my opinion it is really hard to review and rate a comic collection especially since the only theme in this seemed to be love and being with your partner. Overall I really enjoyed my experience reading this and found myself smiling and nodding along. If you are looking for a cutesy comic collection about being in a relationship then this is definitely a collection for you.
Catana Chetwynd perfectly captures the everyday moments in a relationship. (Once again, my Goodreads review is too succinct for NetGalley.)
I was provided an electronic ARC by the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for honest review.
I've been following CatanaComics on Instagram for a while now! I saw this book on NetGalley and thought to myself, I'd love to read this!
Every single comic is depicting personal moments and stories which are so cute and definitely relatable! The protagonist of these strips, is a couple in a long-term relationship and ultimately every single theme they show is either romantic, funny or very realistic. The sketches are so simplistic, yet so detailed with little frowns or smiles. All in all, this is a book that can make anyone's day, so even out of curiosity check it out!
You can go through it in like an hour or two, but it's a book you'll definitely come back to! If you're looking for a gift for some loved one, I'm pretty sure you should keep this as an option!
I've been in love with Catana's comics ever since the day I stumbled upon her twitter. Reading this book was like having access to the holy grail. Loved every single minute of it ❤️
I fell in love with Catana Comics a while ago, because my friend and her boyfriend were constantly posting them to each other on Facebook. I was so excited to find out there was a book collection now, too! That gave me a lot of lovin' all in one fell swoop.
They really are an adorable couple. And while sometimes it gets quite mushy, and sometimes it feels like Catana is literally too attached to her boyfriend a lot, you know that it works for them. And if you've ever had that kind of relationship with your best friend, you will totally get just about every aspect of these comics.
I am not sure which one is my favorite, because I loved so many of them. I know I loved the ones about them sharing their love of food, because in a real relationship, you're not worrying about looking bad when you're eating. I love the little pranks they play on each other. And then anything to do with the animals or staying home together. I don't know, I could go on. It's just a great collection. And if you're not in a relationship like this, it gives you something to aspire to.
Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for fulfilling my request for a review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The comics that Ms Chetwynd creates are so adorable and so relatable! This is the sort of book that can be displayed near the register and will impulse sell right away because of the cute cover.
This collection was just as adorable and cute. I was not able to relate much with this but it would be fun to relate to it in the future(HAHA) I have been following Catana's comics for a long time now, and really enjoy the art sequence. It becomes a bit monotonous and a bit repetitive, but was a fun read
I’m not sure there is anything cuter than this little graphic novel. After reading the ARC, I had to get my hands on the physical copy and it is very well done. Snug is a perfect book to have on your coffee table as display.
One of the things I love to do on holidays is display a pretty picture book that is for that holiday. Such as, for Christmas, I put up The Polar Express on a little stand. Snug will be perfect for my Valentine’s Day display!
My boyfriend and I had a great time paging through these and finding ones that fit us, such as the one displayed above. The scenarios displayed in the pictures are realistic and either funny or touching. What a great idea it would be to purchase this for your significant other and sticky-note all of the pages that remind you of them.
This is so damn cute! It's a collection of short comics about the life of Catana and her boyfriend John. They love each other so much and the comics are so cute! If you have a significant other, you will relate to this.
This is an adorable and extremely relatable collection of comics for couples. The drawings aren't overly complex and the scenarios are very true for the day-to-day moments that couples share. an excellent book to share with your partner.
