After my son has read his way through many of the Big Nate books, I finally took the opportunity to sit down with him and we read it together. Definitely good humor, though skipping arpund a bit in the story sometimes led to slight confusion at times. Overall, I enjoyed it and won't hesitate to contine to recommend this series to readers. My son agreed he liked it, but not his favorite of the series, he's enjoyed others a lot more.

Big Nate is growing up and this time, we meet a girlfriend...a girlfriends who is older! While I didn't appreciate some of the language used in this book (ie: cougar town, fat, etc), my kids loved this book and wanted to read from start to finish. The band goes through some changes and middle school continues to be a challenge for dear Nate. Overall, a well written next book for Lincoln Pierce.

It's always a good day when I have a new Big Nate book. The kids love these books and never realize that they are reading vocabulary above their grade level. The book is also hysterically funny which appeals almost to everybody. Nate's issues are ones that the kids can relate to, expecially his unrequited love for Jenny and his subsequent finding of a girl who likes him back.

I know this- everytime a new Big Nate book comes out, I buy several copies for my library. Kids LOVE this series- I can't keep the books on the shelf. This installment deals with Nate having an older girlfriend (7th grade, he's in sixth) and dealing with the fallout from that. Of course, there are other story lines, like Nate being in a band and going to school. Kids will love this book, and keep coming back for more from Big Nate.

ARC Copy...Fans of Wallace the Brave, returning Nate fans and Diary of Wimpy will probably like this next volume of Big Nate.

Hugely loved in my home. My 11 year old is a big fan of these books and said this one was awesome. Thank you for writing books that inspire kids to read.

Lincoln Peirce smashed another one out of the park. My son devoured this graphic comic the moment he got his hands on it. His giggles could be heard throughout the house. He particularly enjoyed the Christmas theme with it being so close to the holidays. I said this before and will say it again, i wish these came out more frequently. Thank you for instilling the desire to read in my son. Hands down Big Nate books take the win over video games.

Nate and his friends are back in school. Nate meets the girl from the summer fair. She is not a figment of his imagination! She is a new student at school, but is in 7th grade! Trudy and Nate make an interesting couple, but the question arises - can Nate survive the other 7th graders, especially at a party! A fun read!

Another typical Big Nate book. Some of it seemed like I had read it before somewhere, but that might just be because there are a lot of those books.

Romance is in the Air

This is book number 22 in the "big Nate" series. Instead of running out of steam the books seem to be getting better - more insightful and perceptive, a touch edgier, more knowing, and funnier. I enjoy the slightly understated, somewhat deadpan, wit.

Despite the title, the book is not devoted to the boys' band - 'Enslave the Mollusk". Nate a sixth grader, has a girlfriend, Trudy, who's a seventh grader. Most of the book looks at that subtle but very important distinction, and while a lot of it is funny, parts are wistful and rather touching. I guess that's what I mean about the books getting better over time.

So, a nice entry in the series, and a fun and funny light read.

It is a scary world out there for people in love and confusing realm of dating. School isn't any different. Especially you are trying to date older woman ;)

Ah, a nice little bit of light-hearted reading after quite a few classics--just what the doctor ordered. I read [book:Big Nate: Hug It Out!|47875868] a few months ago and although most of the "storylines" were little vignettes into the life of Nate and his family and friends, there was one storyline that was completely unresolved--the mysterious girl that he met at the fair. That storyline continues in this book and I was very happy to see that. This book is similar with little daily vignettes inserted throughout while the storyline with the girl continues. But dang, it ends in a somewhat downer feel. I'm not sure if all the Big Nate books end this way, but perhaps it's a way of keeping us invested with Big Nate, lol. Many of my students read Big Nate voraciously so perhaps I should ask them! In any case, this was a good bit of lighthearted fun and I found myself laughing out loud in places. I can definitely see why this appeals to elementary and middle school kids.

This is yet another hilarious book from Lincoln Peirce. My kids both loved this one, a sequel to Hug it Out. The reading level is perfect for 2rd to 5th grade and the jokes are both clean yet funny. It is also sharp and sparked discussion in my household. For example, the discussion of writer's block in the story led to a conversation about creativity and creative writing. There is plenty in this book for both kids and parents alike to enjoy and appreciate. Thanks for another story in a fabulous series, Mr. Peirce!

This book collection of comic strips was entertaining and fun, and it has the same appeal as the other books in the series. It appeals to upper elementary age and is stand-alone, but it doesn't hurt to read the other books first. Overall it was a good read, and I highly recommend. Fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid or Calvin and Hobbes might enjoy Big Nate.
