Ever since tragedy struck years ago, bodyguard Callum Colton has avoided working with families. Yet when little Evie Hart becomes a witness to a kidnapping, Callum puts aside his fears to protect Evie and her mother, Hazel. That means moving in with the single mom and her adorable child—just temporarily, he insists. But can Callum keep the Harts safe while protecting his own heart?
This was a pretty good book. The story was well paced. The main characters were really exciting to follow on their journey. I hadn’t read this author before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was not disappointed!

Colton Family Bodyguard by Jennifer Morey is book three in the Coltons of Mustang Valley series. This series of novels written by various authors features the Colton Family of Mustang Valley, Arizona. This is a Mills & Boon Romantic Suspense: Heart-racing suspense, adventure and romance under extraordinary circumstances.

Former Navy Seal, Callum Colton works for Executive Protection Services, LLC as a bodyguard. His current client is five-yr-old Evie Hart and her mother, Hazel. Callum normally avoids working with families but knows he must make an exception for the little girl who witnessed a crime and her mother, both of whom are penetrating his armor.

Colton Family Bodyguard is another entertaining read in this series. The characters are strong and vibrant. Little Evie is a gem. The plot is engaging. The author maintains the continuity of a series not written by one author. There is some explicit sexual content that may be offensive to some readers. The ending was satisfying but felt a little stilted, so I deducted a star and gave the book a 4 out of 5 rating. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense.

My thanks to HARLEQUIN – Romance (US & Canada) and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

Hazel and her daughter Evie are in a bit of trouble when Evie witnesses a kidnapping. Callum happened to be around when it happens and winds up being their protector till the people who are now after the two are behind bars. Callum is less then thrilled with this situation since he's got his own baggage but will do what he can and try not to let his heart be taken by the two.

So when it comes to this book there is plenty of suspense, I was wondering if the person after them would take more action but it was fine the way it turned out. There was more to the story then just the mystery aspect, there was the backstories in getting to know Hazel and Callum. Callum tried his best to keep boundaries because of what happen to him in the past and he refuses to make the same mistake. Then there was the who connection between this book and the others in the series about the father and who was behind the father being shot landing him in a coma. They could've just sat around waiting for the authorities to do something about the person clearly after them but they made to put themselves out there to try to do something about it themselves and clue things together. Overall I enjoyed this book, can't wait to see what happens next!

Lots of danger mixed with a touch of sweet, a smidge of sass and a whole lot of steam! With book three in the exciting Colton spin-off series The Coltons of Mustang Valley, Jennifer Morey takes us on an adventure filled emotional journey in COLTON FAMILY BODYGUARD. The intrigue had my attention right off the bat and the fast paced plot kept me riveted.

Callum Colton is a bit of a mystery to us so far in the series, so to learn his background story is very satisfying. The second he stepped in and helped a stranger and her little girl he endeared himself to me, and seeing him interact with that adorable little girl was super sweet.

Hazel Hart is easy enough to like. She's working hard to make a satisfying life for her daughter and herself, so isn't sure what to make of being thrown into a whirlwind of luxury amid the Coltons.

I highly recommend this book and the entire series so far to anyone who enjoys a fast paced story filled with intrigue and happily ever afters but who also likes the slow build of an on-going mystery that will fester throughout the entire series until the last book gives us answers.

4.5 Stars

This is the third book in the Harlequin Intrigue Colton’s of Mustang Valley series by Jennifer Morey.

What a roller coaster ride this was!

I wasn’t certain at all if this whole relationship/protection job would even work out in this instance. Callum had just broken up with his last girlfriend who wanted to start a family with him and now he is lusting after a lady who already has a child! Talk about a perplexing start.

Little Evie was a four-year old, I believe and she had to be the most articulate four-year old I’ve ever come across in print. She kept up conversations with adults with no problem. She witnesses someone throw a man into a trunk and speed off. There is more than one threat in this book. I fear there is a bit of threat overkill. First, there is is the continuing threat to Callum’s father, who is in the hospital. Then there is the hooded man Evie saw and thirdly, there is a threat to Hazel, herself. Wow, how can two people get so many people worked up enough to elicit a threat. But that is the nature of a romantic suspense. The threat level is always high which is why we love reading titles like this so much!

I liked the introduction of Hazel’s brother. I thought that was a fine touch and gave us a bit of Hazel’s backstory. Evie was definitely the MVP of this story. Little scene stealer, she was.

Great story and I continue to love this Colton series. It is one of my guilty pleasure reads, for sure! I hope you will check it out of if you love romantic suspense as much as I do. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.
