I applaud the authors on this movement. I read about it awhile ago in the NYT and have participated in some of the Facebook groups. This is something more people should read and do to improve the climate, the wasted consumption and eliminate the hoarders in this world.

I am a part of my local Buy Nothing group on Facebook. I always thought it was a fantastic idea so I was excited to learn more about what (and who) started the movement. I absolutely loved the book. I got some new ideas to present to my local book and some new ideas for my own giving and well being. I like that this is a step by step guide for spending less and giving more. I am so glad that the Buy Nothing Movement exists and I am hoping that this book will help it go even more viral.

While this does have a ton of information, it is not new. I've read many books with this info, and this just rehashed it. I was hoping for something new.

What an eye opener as to what is really happening to our environment! The authors take recycling and reusing (sharing) to a new level. Why do we hold on to stuff that someone else could use (and which just takes up space in our home?) What is really inside the trash at our local beaches? How can we teach our children how to use what they have and not crave more? All of these topics are discussed in The Buy Nothing, Get Everything Plan. This book provides examples of what we can do to help make our earth a better place and to really get to know people in our communities. The authors of this book definitely live in an upper crust community with idealistic views...and that's great! I love that they're sharing these views and ideas with others, but it's just not realistic for some of the other classes and / or rural areas.
