Natalie, Alex’s Second Wife, and Jade his teenage daughter are caught in a house fire which results in more questions than just how did the fire start. Jade thinks she saw a man in the house before the fire started but Natalie denies seeing anyone suggesting that Jade is just suffering from the trauma. However, as the truth starts to gradually be revealed Alex comes to terms with the fact that Natalie isn’t all she seems...

This is a really addictive fast paced thriller. It has the makings of a classic psychological thriller. The plot is original and just when you think you know what’s going on there’s a perfectly timed twist. I seriously enjoyed this book and I think my heart is still racing a little!

I was really really enjoying this book, a sort of medium paced novel well writin and more than enough to keep you going. It's storyline started to become a little more interesting when Natalie started to tell who the people in the photograph he found where. The past or parts of it slowly start to come out about Sadie and Rachael. Sadie and kaz Sadie Melonie....... .... So it begins a few twists on the journey. Then came back to the present, until cali makes a revolution. Now it's at that point I stop enjoying the book, I sat with my head in my hands going no no no. Don't do this not this final twist, had it not been on my iPad and been literally on paper I would have thrown it across the room, I genuinely didn't want to finish it not after that revelation. ( Also I have to question a point of law in this book ) the point is no one can be convicted of any crime based on hearsay. Because that is how it read 2 convictions based on. Hearsay.

I literally missed sleep over this book as I couldn't put it down at night. A dark, compelling thriller woven around family life, relationships, crime and deception. A unique storyline which twist and turns more than once in unexpected ways. It lost one star for one characters failure to spot the obvious (to me). Well worth a read - just don't plan anything else that day.

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. This book sounded amazing. The kind of thriller that it my favorite. I could not get into this book. The fire at the beginning had my attention, but then i turned to the back to see if the guy was real or not. It just didn't capture my attention.

The Second Wife is exciting and gripping. At times its a little hard to understand, but the storyline is great. And the suspense is there!

This was an excellent novel that drew me in. The storyline was well developed and the characters were sympathetic and realistic.

With the synopsis offering a dark and thrilling read, I have to admit I was left rather deflated after reading this book. I found the plot to be extremely ‘out there’ and not believable in the slightest. I also found the authors way of navigating through time to be quite confusing as there didn’t seem to be much tying the storylines together.

I do think that the characters were well thought out and executed nicely, I just personally wasn’t gripped by this book.

Having given up half way through I am left searching my head somewhat. The premise sounded good and if stated solidly but then somehow lost its way, it felt like 2 separate stories at times and left me quite confused. Not for me.

I’m lost for words and not in a good way.

The Second Wife sounded exactly like my sort of book, thrilling, dark and full of secrets. In reality it’s a little boring.
The writing frustrated me so much! Going between different years is absolutely fine but there needs to be something tying the storyline together! When the story first went back to 1999 I completely forgot about the fire and by the time it came back to present day I didn’t care about the fire. The subplot was more interesting but nothing really stood out....well not for good reasons. There is nothing believable about the story and by the time I got to the “twist” (most obvious twist ever) things didn’t make sense. Then it got worse.

I honestly don’t know how to take this story seriously. I’m left annoyed that I’ve wasted my time reading this when I have much better books on my list.
