Thoughtful, deep, and emotionally compelling, John O'Leary's book is one I return to for comfort. O'Leary tells the story of how he because a public speaker and how a traumatic event in his childhood became a lesson he turns to in order to remember what is important in life. I love his reminders to stay like a child and drop our defenses during the day. This book is a collection of essays that remind us that while we are only a text message away, we need to take time for the people around us.
This is the perfect "pick me up" book to read during these stressful times. It reminds us that while we cannot change our circumstances, we can decide how we're going to respond.

I had high hopes for this book as the premise is something I aspire to maintain for the remainder of my life. Who doesn't love the idea of trying to see the world as a child as much as possible? I appreciate what O'Leary proposes here, but I do not believe the book itself is as high of a caliber as it could be. It is full of what I consider "fluff" in nonfiction: blanket statements without counterpoints or larger considerations, aimless examples of proposed ideals, unrealistic practical explanations or a lack thereof.

In Awe really hit home with me as I have a 12 year old. This quote stood out to me “They miss the moment, ignoring the very things that matter most.”. This is one of the things that I work on daily to be present with my son. I believe that this book is being released into the world at just the right time to help parent refocus on what’s right in front of them that matters most. We all need to look at our ladder and see which direction it’s facing. I believe many parents and children’s lives will change for the better after reading this book.

Fascinating book. People already call me the eternal child so I enjoyed the book and felt validated. I think a lot of people can and will benefit from seeing and experiencing things through the eyes of a child again, with excitement, joy and everyday awe. Two thumbs up.
