I should have figured out that this was a riff of the Christmas Carol from the name, especially since it's a series about a woman who sees ghosts so why wouldn't she see one on Christmas Eve? Especially when her boyfriend's mother has been particularly horrible and Ellis doesn't immediately side with Verity.
I thought the idea was nice but the execution was a little heavy handed and the connection to the woman who brought Lucy into Verity's life was shaky.

I love my heroes feckless and my heroines feisty, and a heapin' helping of sharp-edged villain just garnishes the tale nicely. We've got all that and well done in Angie Fox's Holiday cozy mystery, THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST, Book 8.5 in THE SOUTHERN GHOST HUNTER MYSTERIES.

Downtrodden but feisty and strong-willed inadvertent Tennessee ghost hunter Verity has her work cut out for her, both "on the job"
and with ice-edged future mother-in-law Virginia, town dowager. Author Angie Fox has a flair for character for certain.

I love the Southern Ghost Hunter series by Angie Fox, so when I saw this, I grabbed it right away. I loved it (as expected). It has all the charm of the full length novels - ghosts, someone to help, Verity and Ellis. I love the way a certain well known Christmas story was woven into it. So much fun, highly recommended!

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this story, it is a spinoff of A Christmas Carol but with bears, a skunk, and a miserable family who are being tore apart by the actions of Virginia. But Verity comes to see that the rest of the family are together and have each other regardless of Virginia's actions. And saves the bears with the help of 4 ghosts. #TheGhostofChristmasPast #NetGalley

A fun holiday novella that gives a twist to a classic tale. Our favorite ghost hunter gets herself into another mess and drags poor Frankie along for the ride. With a lot of feels, Angie Fox gives us a great read to tide readers over until the next full book comes.

I received a free copy of THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST (Tale 8.5 of the Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries) by Angie Fox in exchange for an honest review. Verity Long’s anxious about spending Christmas Eve with her boyfriend Ellis’ family, the Wydells. Ellis’ mother Virginia has a lengthy history of making Verity’s life miserable, especially financially. When Virginia pulls another evil stunt, Verity takes the opportunity to tell Virginia where she and her narcissistic personality disorder can go-straight to the party without Verity. Verity changes into her comfy jammies just in time to receive a ghostly visitor. While still alive, Donna helped Verity save the life of the newly rescued skunk kit, who grew up to be Verity’s loyal, loving companion and best friend Lucy. Now ghostly, Donna’s there to call in the favor. Donna sends Verity on a mission to save some furry babies. In doing so, Verity’s given the option to save her future as well.

Heart eyes times 3! I love this series and really, really, really loved this take on the Dicken’s A Christmas Carol. It was a great story. I highly recommend this book and the series to fans of supernatural cozy mysteries.
