Engrossing story, had me hooked from page 1, good character development, good pacing, enjoyed the different POV's.

I could do without the dual narrative. The current timeline was more interesting. Other than that, not a terrible thriller.

a gripping novel full of suspense and intrigue....its starts off with a dead body being found and a case of mistaken identity...

this was written in the present and past chapters with plenty of history..the before and after, a convoluted storyline but one that many will identify with....

i lost it a bit in the middle of the storyline but the ending more than made up for that...the tense drama of it all....

will be keeping an eye out for more of this authors work

“I Could be You” had me drawn in from the first page. It is a great story full of twists and turns...some you know are coming and some that surprise you.

Katie is seventeen. She has never been happy with who she is. She stares at Ella working the bar. She has long dark hair, thin and beautiful. Her boyfriend Shane comes into the bar. Supposedly he comes to see Katie but she knows he's here to look at Ella. Ella and Shane had been a couple before. Ella broke up with him. He was not a nice person. She didn't want anything to do with him.
When sistuations arise the girls, Ella and Katie switch identities. Neither knows the consequences of their actions. People will be hurt. People will die. At the end a child's life hangs in the balance.
Great read! Entertaining and exciting!

This was a bit of a mixed bag for me - loved the start when Dee’s neighbour Katie is found dead - a victim of a hit and run, and her little boy missing. The miss part of it was more to do with the jumping back and forth from Katie’s POV in the past, and Dee’s present - it was a little disjointed and hard to follow! Once I got halfway through though, I was hooked again!
Worth persevering - I really enjoyed it.

A decent thriller with a female protagonist, the balls in the air scenario as she tries to make sense of a neighbour's disappearance, suspicion of detectives, a meddling ex-husband makes for tension.

I found the dual narrative of a story from years before coupled with the disappearance a bit unsettling and was distracting from the present day storyline which was told a lot better.

A well told story though with much skill

I Could be You by Sheila Bugler grabs the reader from the opening pages – a dead woman and a missing child! From this point on the twists keep coming – just when I thought I knew something, the plot takes a turn in a totally different direction.

Dee, the character we follow in the present day, used to be a top journalist but then various events, including the breakdown of her marriage and her mother’s death, cause her to become something of a recluse.

However, she opens up a little to her tenant Katie and falls in love with Katie’s young son Jake. After finding the dead woman, who has clearly been the victim of a deliberate hit and run, Dee uses her journalistic skills to try to track down Jake, discovering along the way
that everything she thought she knew about her friend proves wrong.

Interspersed with the present day theme are flashbacks to another character. I won’t say more as I don’t want to include spoilers, but suffice it to say I found it hard to put the book down! Thank you to NetGalley, Sheila Bugler and Canelo for allowing me an advance copy.

This is an excellent, twisty, thriller, well paced with an explosive ending I didn't guess. I loved the female protagonist and all her secrets. My first novel by this author and looking at her GoodReads profile I have a lot of catching up to do! Recommended for all lovers of mystery/psychological thrillers.

Fast paced and with twists though some of it could be guessed. The last part could have been cut short, felt like dragging. Entertaining but not something that stays with you. 3.75 stars

Full of twists and turns, I Could Be You keeps the reader guessing and guessing again, until the very end.

Journalist, Dee Doran, has had a rotten couple of years. Her marriage has broken down, both parents have died and she no longer has a job. Having returned to her parents' house on the coast at Eastbourne, she lives a narrower life than she is used to. Her only pleasure is her friendship with Katie, the young woman who rents a mobile home from Dee with her young son Jake.

When she finds a woman mown down outside her home, Dee goes into freefall. Is it Katie? It looks like her, but then again... Dee sets out to discover who the dead woman is and who has run her over. Using contacts from her past she puts herself at risk in her attempts to uncover the truth.

Her friendship with Alex, who runs a boatyard, is further complicated by Dee's attraction to Ed Mitchell, the DI investigating the murder. The possibly budding relationship with Ed is at risk from Dee's refusal to stay out of the investigation. Dee is not a woman who likes to be told what and what not to do.

Through flashbacks to Katie's past, we gradually learn why she came to be living on the south coast. The truth, however, is malleable and we cannot rely on the evidence until the final details are revealed.

If you like a brain-tangling mystery (mine was well-tested at times!) this is the book for you.

This book was so good that it was able to keep my attention the entire time, I didn’t want to put it down. The author really knows how to write a story. I’m not the biggest fan of the cover though.

This was an intense read full of suspense and twists and turns. It was an engaging read and really drew me in. I never knew which way the story would go.

A suspenseful read, Dee Doran is horrified when she discovers Kate, her friend and tenant body in the road, a victim of a deliberate hit and run. She is even more shocked when it is discovered that it is not Kate and her son Jake is missing too. Dee a former journalist take it upon herself to find out what has happened. Told in flashbacks and points of view (POV) many secrets come to light and Dee also has to deal with her own personal problems involving drink and loneliness.

Full of twists and turns, I Could Be You will keep you engaged throughout. A fast paced thriller that was a pleasure to read. Look forward to reading more from this author.
