EXCELLENT PACEY READ FULL OF TWISTS AND TURNS some of which were a little predictable but it draws the reader in and I read this book pretty quickly.

Dee, the central character of the book and a former journalist has returned to her late parent’s beachside house where she befriends a tenant of a mobile home she is renting to Katie and her son Jake.

At the beginning of the book, Dee discovers a body of a female and a child’s buggy outside her house and decides to put her journalistic training to good use to investigate this only to discover that everything she thought she knew about Katie was wrong.

This is a cleverly written book and like many thrillers nowadays follows more than one character and timeline and does this successfully.

I had not read anything by this author before but I will certainly be looking to read other books.

Loved this . I was hooked from the first pages . We get the story both in the past and present . Dee is horrified to find the body of her friend Katie who has been run over and left to die , her young son is missing and Dee is frantic . She starts to investigate what has happened and uses all her journalistic skills to try and solve the mystery . Meanwhile we get the story from the past told from Katie's perspective . It's quite a twisted tale but hugely entertaining . A really good ending , and I look forward to reading more from this author . 5 stars !!

Twisty, fast paced book! A real page turner! Dee is fresh out of a bad marriage and she finds there was a murder outside her house. Ends up being her tenant Katie, whom she thought she knew. And it turns out Katie's son is missing. Dee tries to figure out who did it. Thank you Netgalley and to the publisher for the advance ecopy.

Former journalist, Dee Doran finds the body of her friend Katie on the side of the road; Katie’s little boy Jake is nowhere to be seen. As Dee joins forces with the local police she learns some disturbing things about Katie’s past and about the jealous rage that led to murder. It would appear Katie’s past has come back to haunt her, with a vengeance.

This is a great book full of suspense with one twist after another that will keep you on your toes and thinking. Dee is a retired journalist living in her parents house in the beach trying to decide what to do after her marriage fell apart. She becomes good friends with her tenant Katie and her son Jake. After a murder in front of her house everything Dee thought she knew about her friend proves wrong. What follows is a great story going from one time frame to another, following the two main characters. This author does an amazing job of building the story, letting you come to your own conclusion. She created great characters that are not perfect, whose flaws help you like them. I loved this book and couldn’t wait to read another chapter which then led to another. You will want to read it in one sitting so you can see if your choice of “who dunnit” is right. I look forward to reading more books by this author as this one had the perfect mix of suspense, murder and crime solving. I’m grateful to NetGalley, Sheila Bugler and Canelo for the opportunity to read this wonderful book.

This read is a mystery beyond a mystery.

Dee, living a life of loneliness, is best friends with her tenant - Katie. She loves Katie's son, Jake. The three are together often. One day, Dee finds Katie run over by a car - dead. Two year old Jake's baby buggy is empty. After searching for Jake for half an hour, Dee calls the police.

Dee had been a journalist in the past. Her cousin, Louise, is high on the journalistic pole. In a robust way Dee "works on the case" independently of the police to find out why Katie had been run over. And, more importantly, what has happened to Jake? This both inspires and renews Dee's interest in her once loved journalism spirit. with lots of intrigue.

Full of twists and suspense, this story is bound to be an entertaining book for readers of many genres.

Great characters (even if you do not like them all) and a solid plotline.

RECOMMEND!

Many Thanks to Canelo and NetGalley for a great read!

I received an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review

This one was pretty twisty- some more obvious than others but still an enjoyable ride. You really do you fall in love with the main female character. Solid four

Fast paced, with a likeable central character.
Lots of tangled twists in the story whilst you try work out who is dead and why,and the plot drip feeds you clues from the past.
Entertaining whilst reading,a few things easy to guess at.
Enjoyable,but possibly not very memorable.
