Okay this author just gets me. It’s amazing. I love her writing style and regency fanfare. The books are steamy and hot and first and everything you ever want.

This is the first in this series that I have read, but it will not be the last! A charming story full of wonderful characters you love reading about. This is the kind of book that leaves you with a smile, my favorite kind.

I was given an ARC for my honest opinion.

Desiree and her brothers longed to go back home to France and when faced at the crossroads, it took three little words to make a difference. Her attraction to Jack was combustible, she knew she couldn’t leave without tasting it all or should I say him how decadent of me. A saucy and sweet release, I mean the book, of course, a wonderful divine and delectable read.

Erica Ridley does it again! I love the books in this series and this book was no exception. I flew through this book, so engrossed in the story that I finished it in one sitting. Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.

I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series, and Jack and Desiree’s story is no exception. Jack’s children are particularly charming and add a touch of humor to an already uplifting romance.

This is the sixth in the twelve dukes series. Once again Ms Ridley's novella will wrap you in humour, with a dash of heartbreak and plenty of steam.

I love stories that feature children, it adds a little touch of something extra to books, typically its humour, and this book is no exception, the twins are a delight.

If you haven't read any of this series, then you are missing out. Each novella is perfect for an afternoon spent curled up on the sofa during this winter season.

I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Light, fun, book filled with love and family.
Desiree and her brothers had to flee France years ago and have worked hard ever since to save enough money to go back and restore their birthrights. Jack is a single father of ten year old twins. He works hard as a smuggler, and has wealth, friends and family, but refuses to open his heart again to love. Jack is desperate for a governess for his kids, determined to give them an education, and Desiree sees the job as an opportunity to earn the rest of the money her family needs to return to France. But working closely with the twins and sharing the house with Jack, has stirred feelings and desires that are hard for both Desiree and Jack to ignore. When the time comes for Desiree to return to France with her brothers, will Jack and the twins let her go?
Truly enjoyed this book.

I did not know when requesting this book for review that it was the 6th in a series ( should have done my research,) but I am so happy that I was granted a copy. I don’t think you really need to read the others to read this one even though it might provide context for somethings. I was able to fall in love with the characters and the story anyway. I am so happy I read this book and I for sure will be picking up the first 5 and continuing on when future books come out

I enjoyed this story. Jack Skeffington is a smuggler, an ex-pirate and a widower. He lives in Cressmouth with his 10 year old twins. He vowed to never marry again. However they need a governess. So he asked Desiree for help to be a temporarily governess until hi fines someone to fill the position. Desiree accept the job because her family needs money to pay off a loan.

I received a complimentary copy though NetGalley. This is my honest unbiased opinion.

Smuggler (and father) Jack Skeffington needs a governess to reign in his ten-year-old twins. Désirée le Duc needs the money to secure her trip home to France — finally — all the faster. Of course, neither of them harbor any feelings for the other.

Right?

The Duke's Bride is the sixth entry in Erica Ridley's 12 Dukes of Christmas series. The "duke" is rarely ever an actual duke, and this is the first one I've read where the duke is a woman (le Duc!). Disclaimer: I've only read three of the six, so that might not be an accurate accounting of the series.

Both Jack and Désirée are looking for different things in life. He wants to stay in Cressmouth village, raise his children, and not suffer the potential risk of losing another woman he loves again. Now that the war has ended, she wants to return, with her brothers, to reclaim her ancestral home in France and own her own vineyard. Jack isn't willing to do anything that will disappoint his children, but as Annie and Fredrick's opinions change about Désirée, he realizes that he is willing to risk it all.

Like all the 12 Dukes of Christmas books, this is a fast-paced story that doesn't keep you dangling for long for that happy ending. The epilogue is one of the cutest I've seen in a while, probably because the twins are really the glue that brings the book together. I would have been more into The Duke's Bride had Jack and Désirée's relationship felt organic instead of its emphasis on an overwhelming attraction, but the characters are all likeable (and at times, a dash too witty) enough to pull me along for the ride.

If you want a heartwarming, family-centric holiday story that you can squeeze into your busy schedule, check out The Duke's Bride.

This book is a sweet romance that the reader can just fall into and enjoy. It is a quick read and, although I have read a few other offerings in this series, is thoroughly readable as a stand alone story. The writing is descriptive, particularly the detail on the town setting and neighbors. I am a sucker for stories where women go beyond the "expected" to express their own thoughts and wants and needs, and that part of them is (unexpectedly) accepted -- or celebrated -- by the men in their lives. Desiree has quite a conflict in determining where her future should go -- you can feel her angst in defining who her "family" is. You can also feel Jack's fear in setting his course, alongside ever exuberant children who follow their hearts. I loved how Jack and Desiree sought a formal governess for the children and set the respondents into different categories -- butterflies and barnacles, joyful and stern. It was funny and real. This author is one I go back to time and again -- and, again, she did not disappoint. Recommended for an easy, light read.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review. All opinions above are my own.

Wonderful 6th book in the Twelve Dukes of Christmas series. The main characters are wonderful and fun; a man afraid to love again with twin ten year old's whom he is devoted to, and a delightful lady devoted to her family and interested in learning and improving the world around her. Erica Ridley wove such a wonderful story with fun and adventure, it's a read that your really don't want to end.

Erica Ridley never fails to write a fresh new story with plenty of romance, humor, and historical fun. I enjoyed the French aspect - the characters added a new perspective we don’t often see in these historical romances. I felt the solution Desiree came up with at the end was well thought out and I really respected that. I enjoyed this so much I went back and purchased the first four books to start the series from the beginning. I’m looking forward to rereading this and Duke Actually with a bit more background.

The Duke's Bride is the 6th novel in the 12 Dukes of Christmas Series and like the others I've read, I'm always left feeling happy and satisfied, as any good romance should leave its reader.

This one focuses on Jack Skeffington, a Lord and smuggler of the finest booze. He's also widowed and has 10 yr old twins. Twins who are in definite need of a governess.

Enter his good friends, the Le Ducs, Lucien, Bastien, and Desiree. All three were smuggled out of France when the war started, and spent the remainder of the war in Cressmouth, England. Waiting until they could return to France and reclaim their land and titles.

Lucien and Bastien have been helping Jack with his smuggling for years. And Desiree has always been the younger sister Jack should not be thinking about. But he needs a Governess until he can find a real Governess, and Desiree is the person he immediately thinks could help him.

Of course, she moves in with him, the wins over the children, and falls in love with Jack. But how it all unfolds is the fun part of the story.

The Duke's Bride is a fun, quick read about two people who should be together. And lo and behold, they make it happen and it's all the sweeter.

Sweet story that would have benefitted from a little extra development. I liked the characters, but I wish I’d had more time to get to know them better. Still curious about this series and will probably try an earlier one.

Jack Skeffington rules his world as a smuggling mastermind, but he is losing the battle when it comes to parenting his twins. The household doesn’t lack for love, just some structure. Jack asks Desiree le Duc to take on the job of temporary governess until he can find a real one. Desiree and her two brothers desperately need the money to help pay off a loan so that they can return to France and claim their birthright.

Although short, this story packed quite a punch. Jack and Desiree are both interesting and engaging characters. The chemistry between them is off the charts. Desiree quickly becomes an integral part of their little family and all three Skeffingtons are loath to let her go. Desiree’s brothers desire more for her than staying in England, but even they had to give in to the obvious love between Jack and Desiree.

It was a fun, exciting read and I would like to read the other books in the series.

I received an advanced copy of the book from Netgalley to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
