The description for the new book Gravitas: The Monastic Rhythms of Healthy Leadership intrigued me as I have previously read and interacted with the Rule of St. Benedict. I was excited to read a new book that incorporated this ancient resource and included leadership topics. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the book like I hoped I would. I found the emphasis seemed to be more about being a better leader and here's some spiritual resources to help you reach that goal instead of, here are spiritual rhythms that may also have leadership benefits. The examples used as illustrations also seemed to emphasize that xyz leader was having leadership issues but then started doing this spiritual practical which turned the business around. I would conclude that the book has good qualities but simply wasn't what I expected.
