Always nice to re-read Edgar Allan Poe, the master of dark detective, I would say. And even though I got this particular edition from NetGalley for an honest feedback, I should admit I am tempted to buy the book just for the cover. it is beautiful!
Reading stories again is very exciting and even though you more or less know what is going to happen, you just can't stop enjoying brilliant language of Poe, the father of all detectives in a way. I love how dark and macabre the atmosphere is and.. if you have never read Poe before, this is a great selection to start with!

I love gothic literature and i liked each individual story of this classic and amazing book.
It has interesting writing, and interesting detective work and lovely cover.

This book is three of Edgar Poe's detective stories.
I enjoyed the dark and chilling stories in Paris.
Highly recommend for anyone who likes a good mystery.

I read, The Murders in the Rue Morgue, in school along with several of Poe's poems. I prefer the poems but did appreciate his atmospheric stories as well. I think the stories in this book would be excellent for a detective fan, they are a little timeworn but still very interesting look into the beginning of a genre.

I had read these mysteries "The Murders in the Rue Morgue”, “The Mystery of Marie Roget” and “The Purloined Letter" a long time ago so it was lovely to read them again as a set of 3.

It was lovely to dip back into his writing once again and re read the Paris Mysteries. Poe is a superb Author whos stories stay wioth you long after you have finished reading them. This would be a super book in print to keep.

It is the first time I read Edgar Allan Poe. And if he is the first person to write detective stories, then I am amazed that the same template has been followed by Sherlock Holmes and Poirot and even some of our Indian detectives like Byomkesh Bakshi. There are three stories in this book. I liked the first The Murder at Rue Morgue and the last one. The English does sound a bit dated, but there are sufficient notes in to understand the full context. It was a quick read and I could finish it in a day.

I'm not normally a fan of detective novels but I can't turn down Edgar Allan Poe. I knew his words would be educated and descriptive.

This is where it all began. He's wonderful. He's inspired so my mystery writers and you can see why.

I recommend this to anyone that likes detective mysteries and short stories. I will definitely picking this up in physical form. Will be a great addition to my collection.

The Paris Mysteries by Edgar Allen Poe, Still just as good as ever. These three mysteries starring Dupin are well worth reading. The Murders in the Rue Morgue', 'The Mystery of Marie Rogêt' and 'The Purloined Letter'.

At least I can now say I have read Edgar Allan Poe.

Look, there was some interesting writing, and interesting detective work, but a lot of it seemed like ramblings to me. Having said that, I do appreciate that this was penned in the early 1800's and that what I read was the inception of the detective genre. For that alone it deserves to be held up high.

I love gothic literature, especially of Lovecraft and Poe, of which I have a large collection. The Paris Mysteries contains three of the greatest works of E.A. Poe: The Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Mystery of Marie Roget, The Purloined Letter (whose protagonist is Auguste Dupin).
The edition is very accurate and excellent if you want to start reading Poe or you want a collection that contains some of his important works in a beautiful edition (even the eye wants its part!). I believe the choice to include these stories is excellent.

I absolutely recommend it!

I have to be honest, I DNFR this book because I just really struggled with it. It had absolutely nothing to do with the writing or the author, I actually thought the quality of writing was excellent, the book just wasn't for me.

The book itself is split into 3 stories, The Murders in the Rue Morgue’, ‘The Mystery of Marie Rogêt’ and ‘The Purloined Letter’ and while the writing is impeccable and I can see why the stories were so influential I just couldn't stick with them.

I wanted to love this book but I just couldn't.

I adore Edgar Allen Poe and loved these three stories. Although I've read better collections, these three are the backbones of so many great thriller/mystery stories out today. Mr.Poe was where it all started. I recommend this collection for any mystery fan, even if you're not a hardcore Poe reader.

I had read these three stories many years ago. It was great reading them again! I love the style of writing and the dialogue of this era, and I had remembered the plot, but not the ambiance that reading the story in its entirety can bring, It appears to be a well made keepsake of some of our favorite classics. This isn't the first time I've ever read anything by Edgar Allen Poe, in fact every once in a while I do read something of his, but to tell the truth his not one of my favorite authors to read. But as soon as I saw this I knew I wanted to read it because I never knew he wrote mysteries, I knew he wrote poem's and horror but not mysteries. So, this was a chance at reading something new from him and surprisingly I liked it way better than I thought I would, was they the greatest detective mysteries I've ever read no, but they were still very good and was a lot of different from his normal stuff that I read from him. Would I read this again? Yes because these mysteries are an example of the first detective stories in English. With that said I want to say think you to NetGalley as well as the publisher for letting me read and review them exchange for my honest opinion.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book. I have not read much Poe so I was very excited to dive in. I liked each individual story and I think that was the best way to dive into Poe and learn about his style of writing.

It's important to keep in mind that Poe really invented the detective novel format, and these stories are worth reading just to see the skeleton used to create the greats like Sherlock and Poirot. They don't have the usual level of satisfaction that the modern reader expects from a mystery, but I appreciate what Poe brought to the table.

These three short stories by Edgar Allan Poe were a bit hard to follow. Assuming this book is still in draft mode as it is an ARC I will base my review as such. The stories were interesting. For me it was a book I had to re-read twice before I could feel as I understood as they did not have a great flow.

Overall, if you are a fan of Poe's work then this is definitely interesting and worth reading.
