I requested and received an e-ARC of this book from NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Canada Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

I will start by saying I have never read any of the previous Temperance Brennan novels but I did watch every episode of Bones and was excited to read this book.

I quite enjoyed reading this book! Dr. Temperance Brennan is recovering from surgery and inserts herself into an investigation without being asked for help; all because she dislikes the new head of department. This book had a lot of interesting twists and characters.

I loved this addition to the Temperance Brennan series and found it to be a fascinating read.

Regardless of Tempe's health, personal, and work issues, she is determined to find answers to a case of a body without hands or face, no matter if it costs her life.

This book is intriguing and satisfied my need for another mystery in this amazing series. The forensics are always interesting and Tempe's thoughts are riveting. This book kept me on the edge of my seat as she and Skinny Slidell work to find the truth.

Growing up my mom started reading these and had the whole collection, when I saw a new title coming out I knew I had to hop on board to see why my mom enjoyed them so much. I read book one and two in the series and decided to skip ahead and read this one. Although some little details were missing i found it easy to follow along. I love temperance and this whole series so very much. Can't wait to go back to read the 16 in between.

Tempe is on the outer with her new boss and not being asked to consult on cases. However when she gets sent pictures of a corpse from an anonymous source she immediately jumps on the case much to get bosses disdain.

I really enjoyed the banter in this one and how even though its the 19th book in the series that the plot is still able to draw in ands excite the reader. Reich's is definitely a master of cliffhanger chapter endings.

I’ve been reading about Tempe long before the TV series aired and long before I even knew about Good Reads. I must say, I got a little tired of Tempe always taking risks in this one. Yes I understand what she does for a living. But I don’t understand why she insists on doing dangerous things like walking into a broken-in house by herself. Or getting smacked hard on the head and then going on as if nothing happened. Still a good read. Thanks to NetGalley and publisher for the ARC.

"Like her protagonist Temperance Brennan, crime novelist Dr. Kathy Reichs is a forensic anthropologist who divides her time between Montreal and North Carolina, and for years worked for the Quebec government’s Laboratoire de sciences judiciaires et de médecine légale. Soon after Reichs’s bestselling 1997 debut Déjà Dead, the hit television show Bones was created based on her work and characters, and ran on Fox TV for 12 years...." My Q&A with Kathy Reichs in The Globe and Mail newspaper

I will literally read anything Kathy Reichs writes and I was so excited to get approved to read this new Temperance Brennan novel. The pace of this story was a little different than most Bones books but I enjoyed the change. There were still all the bangs, bumps and missteps I’ve come to expect from Tempe. The puzzle pieces were placed carefully and the end picture was good, yet a bit bittersweet. I will be waiting for the next book with anticipation.

In this book, Temperance enters a world of conspiracy theories. A faceless man turns up at the morgue, which Temperance is forbidden from working in from the new doctor. She starts her own investigation, which leads her to discover child abuse, missing children, and conspiracy theories, all while dealing with her own health issues.

One thing that Temperance always does is follow her own rules. She didn’t have permission to do a lot of the investigating that she did in this book, but she did it regardless. This was sometimes a problem, because she got in trouble or lost valuable clues.

This book also had some eerie mentions of pandemics. Those mentions follow the conspiracy theories in the book, but it was creepy to read mentions about pandemics and SARS in a book when we are currently experiencing a pandemic in the world.

I love learning about the sources for stories. At the end of this book, Kathy Reichs talks about the real new stories that she borrowed from for this novel. She also has a personal connection to Temperance, which was touching to read about.

This was a great Bones story.

Thank you Simon and Schuster Canada for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Kathy Reichs has just released A Conspiracy of Bones - the 19th entry in her long running Temperance Brennan series.

I was a few books behind but it was easy to catch up in the opening chapter. A quick recap of what's going on in Tempe's life had me up to speed - and ready to see what was next in store for this forensic anthropologist. A lot, as it turns out....

An unidentified corpse missing many parts - but has Tempe's phone number in his pocket, a new boss who despises Tempe (the feeling is mutual), missing children, conspiracists and their theories, the dark web and more. And on top of it all, she's been diagnosed with a brain aneurysm.

The book starts out strong and I was caught up from the opening pages. And it only gets better as it progresses. Honestly, there was no way to predict where the plot was going to go. I actually stopped listening at one point to go online and see if some of the plot devices actually happened. Frighteningly, the answer was yes - MKUltra is a fact. Each new piece of evidence and every revelation only intrigued me more. And just when I thought I had the ending figured out - there were three or four additional chapters that changed the outcome I had predicted. I really enjoy being surprised.

I've always liked Tempe as a character. She comes across as believable. Love interest Ryan makes an appearance as well - another long running character and relationship that adds another layer to the books. I also like Tempe's mom - her bawdy one liners make me laugh and I picked up some computer knowledge from her explanations. But the supporting player I really like is ex-homicide investigator Skinny Slidell. He's irreverent, loud and a bit obnoxious. But he's a dogged investigator and he and Tempe make a formidable team. He too has some great lines.

I really enjoyed this latest and look forward to number twenty! PS - make sure you read the author's notes at the end!

Since her entry into the literary world, I have thoroughly enjoyed the works of Ms. Reichs. This entry reinforces that enjoyment and has re-awakened a desire to catch up on those titles I've yet to sample. Considerably more in depth and technical than the resultant hit TV series, Bones, one is still tempted to imagine our Temperance Brennan within this tale

It has been many years since I have read a book by Kathy Reichs and I am so glad I decided to read a Conspiracy of Bones.
As usual, Temperance Brennan is a woman who delves into the mysteries and intricacies of the human psyche using scientific methods and good old common sense.
This story grasped me from the first word to the final conclusion. Along with Tempe, I too felt anger and disgust in the ongoing plight of the missing children. She gently and painstakingly touched this subject, leaving me feeling acutely aware of how deep and prevalent this issue is.
Revealing Dr. Brennan's health issue throughout the book, and havoc they were playing with this character, only to be revealed in her final notes of this book just how close to home this ailment is in her life.
I believe I will have to go back and reread the books I have missed in the previous years. Kathy Reichs has ignited a fire in me for more.

This was the first full novel by Kathy Reichs that I have read. And it was almost impossible to put down. I devoured it over two days. Reading through my breaks at work and my lunch time. My introduction to the writing of Kathy Reichs was Faking a Murderer with Lee Child. And then I read The Bone Collection Four Novellas, which was an excellent collection of short stories, that at the time spanned the novels available. And this is the most recent and book 19 in a series. A series that I am now hooked on and know I will read all of them. But I will try and pace myself to one a week.

I was a big fan of the Tv series, and eventually watched the whole thing in order. But the books are very different from the show. And both are excellent storytelling. But back to this story.

In this story Brennan is dealing with the demise of her former boss. A new boss that she has major conflict with. A mysterious stalker. An unidentified body that might have links to missing children. And a brain aneurysm that has been diagnosed and had surgery on. She is fighting migraines. There are times she is not sure what is real or her mind making up. And a strong compulsion to find out who the man without hands or face is, even if it ends her career, and maybe even her life. Working with retired cop and part time investigator Skinny Slidell can she put the pieces together before her health and life unravel.

The writing in this novel is very tight. The plot twists and turns. Once you start reading you are hooked. And like Brennan you sometimes wonder what is real and what is now. In part the book fells like the British version of Life On Mars and until we get to the end we are not always certain. The forensics are fascinating. And the prose intense and riveting. And I admit as a Canadian I love the Montreal connection, both with her boyfriend Andrew Ryan, and her living and working part time in both Canada and the United States.

This is a masterfully written crime mystery novel. Even if you have not read any of the other books or watch the shows if you enjoy a good mystery this is a book for you. And if you have watched or read this new tale is an absolute must read. The book was delayed a year as Kathy Reichs herself was diagnosed with an aneurysm and based on advice from her medical staff stepped back from some responsibilities. Because she had one so did Brennan and we likely ended up with a novel somewhat different than originally planned. An excellent read in an intense series!

This is an amazing read that I could not get enough of. From the moment that I started reading till the moment that I put it down , I was hooked. This book took me to another world where I felt like I was part of the team and had to help solve the crime. It moves along at a great pace and that makes for a comfortable read. The characters are amazing and you feel as though you know them and you need to help them, no matter what happens to succeed. This book is a must read, no doubt about it. You will not be sorry that you did.

To start with, I have to say that I'm a HUGE fan of this author, who I haven't read in a few years! I don't know why, exactly....but when I got the opportunity to read THIS one I jumped at the chance! Let me just say that I forgot how AMAZING Ms. Reichs writing is! Her intricate details, layering the breadcrumbs that lead you to what you THINK is the conclusion to the mystery (WRONG!!!)? I LOVE that about her writing and A Conspiracy of Bones is a PRIME example of Ms. Reichs at her VERY BEST!!!

This 19th (!!!) book in the Temperance Brennan series is full of Kathy Reichs' signature sinister twists and turns, full of suspense, heart-stopping drama and angst and the chilling conclusion that makes this book a MUST READ for anyone who loves this genre! I need to make some time to go back and read the other books in this series and catch up now that my appetite has been whetted by ANOTHER INCREDIBLE book from a MASTER STORYTELLER!!!!

This is book 19 in the Temperance Brennan series and I admit I have not read all the books. I didn't really have issues following the story but I do recommend you start from the first book if you have not read this series yet.

I did enjoy this book. It is well written and the story was good.

I am giving this one 4 out of 5.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary advance reader copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.

I feel like I have read most of the books in the series, always nice to see what Temperance Brennan is up to, she’s a character I have always really enjoyed. That being said, I never really connected with this book and it was definitely not my favourite of the series..

This is the 19th volume in the Temperance Brennan series by this author. Reichs herself is a forensic anthropologist working for both the state of North Carolina and the province of Quebec. This series was the inspiration for the long running TV show called Bones. In this book, Temperance is recovering from surgery for an aneurysm when she is anonymously sent photos of a dead body that had been attacked by feral hogs. Her interest peaked, she checks out the case. When a note in the man's pocket has the name of a child missing for years written on it, she becomes obsessed. While the book was certainly entertaining, I think it may be difficult to follow if the reader has not read some of the earlier books in the series, so I would suggest starting with the first one 'Deja Dead'. A bit of interesting knowledge is that Temperance's aneurysm was inspired by the fact that Kathy Reichs herself recently needed neurosurgery for an aneurysm, which is why there was no new book last year.

This was good! It's not usually my type of book (I'm more of a romance person), but I still enjoyed it. I loved Bones so it's fun to go back to a similar world from time to time.

I love Kathy Reichs book from the Viral series. It as really been a while since i haven't read a Temperance book, probably because back then I was watching Bones and it was confusing me. Now that the show as been over for a couple of years, I really enjoyed reading this book and sure will be reading more in that serie. So thanks for Netgalley and the publisher for a chance to have an arc of this book. It's really well written. Kathy Reichs is really a great author.

Brennan have now a new boss and is still recovering from neurosurgery following an aneurysm. She's having migraines, nightmares and she think she might suffer from hallucinations or is she? She doesn't know whats real or whats not. A lot of twist and turn while she's trying to solve a murder even though her new boss doesn't want her to work on the case. The more she uncovers it will become more and more darker.

I LOVED Bones, and I enjoyed her YA series Virals. This is my first actual Temperance Brennan novel. It took me a bit to get into the book since I was trying to relate it to the show. They are not the same, so it's best to put that notion away. Once I got my footing, I enjoyed the book.

Tempe has a new boss who would like nothing more than to see her gone for good. Her mother has cancer and Tempe seems to care more about it than her. Tempe is off work due to an aneurysm that could end her life at any time, and is battling migraines and boredom. She battles fact and fiction throughout the book, starting when she sees a trenchcoat man lurking around her building. Was he actually there or was it just another migraine hallucination? He is real, and he had her phone number, but why? Brennan then can't help but insert herself into this case when he shows up dead and her new boss has her own agenda, potentially not related to the truth.

This story has interesting aspects, the dark web, conspiracy theories, child abductions, and bunkers. Sometimes it was a little drawn out and I lost track of what I was actually reading. But it was fun to see Brennan and Slidell working together, their personalities clashed as often as they meshed well. It was fun, interesting, and the medical and research was very well done. Reichs' knowledge and understanding of these things makes it worth reading.

There were twists and turns, as any case would have, and it kept you guessing. I really enjoyed reading about how she came up with all the ideas in this book, how much actual fact was in it. It gives you more little rabbit holes to go down into and I love that.

This is her 19th book, she goes on to say that she too suffered from an unruptured aneurysm and took a break from writing. I think adding that personal fact into the book by giving it to Brennan, was nice. It added more life, realism to it. I think I would go back and find some more of her work and read it. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!
