A Conspiracy of Bones, the nineteenth book in the Temperance Brennan series by Kathy Reichs once again pulls the reader into the dark and twisted world of the Forensic Anthropologist.

With multiple layers…cryptic texts with explicit images of mutilated bodies, the dark web, missing kids, and faceless nighttime visitors…the story is a rapid page-turner. Andrew Ryan (Tempe’s longtime partner…both professionally and personally) and Skinny Sidel (whose dry wit provides a lighter balance) team with her to unravel a terrifying case.

Even after nineteen books, Kathy Reichs keeps Temperance Brennan relevant and intriguing. Each unique story captures multitude aspects of an arena few would choose to abide in.

One of my all time favorite series , it's a series I'll read over and over , more so then I'll watch the TV show . The characters are way more human here in the book then they where in the show

Temperance Brennan is a character that has fostered a variety of fans. She is exacting and single minded . Going head to head with Margot Heavner , the medical examiner, Temperance starts her own investigation into the remains that Margot has identified as an Asian man. An investigation that uncovers missing children , a suspect spiritual retreat. It’s all too delicious. Fans will not be disappointed.

This book was the oldest in my TBR pile and I read it to get it out of the way. Unfortunately, I had to choke it down. So many misses for me. ALL of the misses. I hate the idea of reviewing a book I didn't love when it was written by an author I normally enjoy. I'll leave it at nothing was good for me =(

Kathy Reichs' Temperance Brennan series was the precursor to the long-running television series, Bones, whose main character was also Temperance Brennan, a forensic anthropologist based in North Carolina, often called on to help local autopsies. This particular chapter in the now-twenty volume series has Brennan playing amateur detective more so than forensic anthropologist, although some bones do appear briefly at one point in the narrative. She is not a welcome player in the investigation and has to, as so often happens in crime novels, investigate on her own, straddling the line between being officially part of the investigation and breaking protocol. It all starts with a mysterious death of a person who does not seem to really exist and Brennan painstakingly traces this mysterious entity through various rabbit holes to find all kinds of possibilities from ex CIA operative subject to mind-control experiments ala Jason Bourne to possible pedophile and child abductor. Although intriguing at times, overall, this narrative lacked a strong punch and meandered through the meadows a bit too much. Save for the airport lounge.

Kathy Reichs is one of my favorite authors and her Temperance Brennan series just keeps getting better. There are twists and turns and you will ge wrapped up in the mystery that involves missing children, an unidentified body, and hidden bunkers. The fact that the author incorporated a personal medical condition in the main character was a nice touch.

I anxiously await each new book in the series and continue to be amazed at how the author continues to come up with new ways to keep us entertained.

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon Schuster for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

I always love Kathy Reichs books, and this one goes on the list as well. This book does not disappoint and its a mystery until the end.

Another good one by Kathy Reichs! Tempe Brennan, recovering from surgery, finds herself involved in a conspiracy of missing children. Slidell and Ryan help out but Tempe, of course has all the right answers.

I will admit that I picked up A Conspiracy of Bones because of my love of the TV show Bones. The Temperance Brennan book series is not the TV show, in the best possible way. It's so much more realistic and the main character is relatable, while still being admirable and highly intelligent.

The book opens with Dr. Temperance Brennan experiencing the aftereffects of her aneurysm and the neurosurgery that followed. She's mourning the loss of her previous boss and is not feeling excited by the replacement. She's already a hot mess of stress when she feels like someone is watching her and finds a man in a trenchcoat. Not long after, she receives pictures of a headless corpse via text.

The wild ride starts and the plot was just addictive, the characters were all well developed. I could not put A Conspiracy of Bones down and wasn't let down by the ending. The story felt predictable at one point, but I could not have been further from the actual outcome. I love a good twist or six.

I enjoyed the characters and the universe Kathy Reichs has developed so much that I've already started the first book in this series, Déjà Dead. My best series find of 2020.

This was a very enjoyable police procedural and mystery. I’ve never read a Reichs novel so I thought I’d give this one a go and I was not disappointed! A solid 4-star read.

I am a big fan of Kathy Reichs. Love reading all her books. Forensic anthropologist, Temperance Brennan, and her police beau, Andrew Ryan, are a fun couple to follow. This is the 19th book in the series. Most are a great read - but this title was not one of my favorites. I am not a fan of the changes that have occurred in Tempe's Montreal office. The new boss was hard to grasp even from the beginning. And the idea that Tempe's reputation would fail her is hard to comprehend. Tempe just wasn't herself - hopefully, she recovers her confidence and intelligent thought processes. I miss the old Tempe. Please do not let the reviews of this title deter you from reading any/all of the earlier Temperance Brennan books - They hold many hours of excellent forensic mystery, humor, and fun romance.

Thank you, NetGalley, for an opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
A Conspiracy of Bones is book #19 in Temperance Brennan Series. This was the first book I read in the series and I truly enjoyed it. Temperance Brennan is a Forensic Anthropologist and this alone is straight up my alley. I was already hooked. The forensic detail is ever fascinating and entirely accessible, the case is addictive. I will be back to read more.

Tempe is having some professional and health issues and becomes obsessed with a body found and eaten by wild hogs. A little bit rambling and without the usual interesting science. ARC from NetGalley.

Okay, I'm torn. I love Tempe. Part of what I love is her tenacity, her bravery and her belief in herself. This book shows her questioning the things that make her so amazing. It picks up with the death of her boss, and a new boss (who hates her) is in charge. Tempe also mentions she has had brain surgery, and questions what she sees. Turns out Tempe suffers from the same kind of aneurysm as Kathy Reichs (You find this in the afterward), so her feelings and beliefs are from the author's experience. I left the book with a small bit of frustration. One- realizing even fictional chararcters you admire are all too human, and two- REALLY, REALLY wanting Tempe to have a bigger part in firing her new boss. Like picking her up and pitching her out of the office.
Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my review.

I have been reading this series of books since the beginning. They impress me every time a new one is written. Just when a reader thinks there is no where else to go with a story, she finds a way. Tempe is a kick butt kind of girl and a role model for women in science.
The writing as always was superb, the story interesting and flow was perfect. I feel like this one is definitely one I will be back to visit with again. There is no stopping Tempe!

Tempe receives a couple of pictures and started working on a case that she was told not to work on - but she does. She is at odds with her boss, Tempe doesn't seem to know how when to stop and she did seem to be hyper focused to the point that she had issues sleeping, or remembering to eat. The story was complex and The ending was kind of abrupt. Not on the same level as all the other books in this series. I still love Tempe and hope the next one will be better.

I've not read any other Temperance Brennan books, Even with no background in a series which has a lot of books in it, I was immediately drawn into the story.

Temperance has always been like an everyday superhero. Seeing what nobody else saw and solving crimes with the best of them. In this book she takes on a more human quality. She's still her badass self, but with the real quality of recovering from a serious medical ailment.

Even brain surgery can't keep Tempe down. Delving into a mystery that her boss seems content to keep her out of, she takes the law into her hands, consequences be damned.

An enthralling and snarky story. Combining intrigue, murder and witty banter. It may be the 19th in the series, but it still packs quite the punch.

I received A Conspiracy of Bones by Kathy Reichs as an ARC from Netgalley. I requested the book because I'm a hug fan of Kathy Reichs and I've read all her books including the ones she has written with her son. I love the character of Temperance Brennan and the show Bones. That being said, A Conspiracy of Bones was not my favorite of the Temperance Brennan series. The story was good but it wasn't as exciting and interesting as her previous novels. Brennan is recovering from surgery after having an aneurysm so she's not officially working. She receives a text message from an unknown sender with a picture of a corpse and she is drawn in to solve the mystery. It was a good story just not her best.

As a HUGE fan of the TV show Bones, I am shocked that this is my first Temperance Brennan novel to read. And although it is not the same as the TV in many ways, I really enjoyed diving into the world of the book version of Brennan. Now I am going to need to go back and start the series at the beginning because starting at book #19 has me wanting to know ALL the backstory. That being said, this book can be enjoyed as a standalone because the case presented in the book is so multifaceted and interesting that it constantly has you (and the characters) guessing. I liked that so much. The ending made sense, but wasn’t rushed as so many mystery/thrillers I read are. That gets automatic high praise from me.
