FULL INTERVIEW ON FRESH FICTION.COM
Welcome to Fresh Fiction, Reese! Please tell us a bit about yourself and your new book, SECRET HEIR SEDUCTION.

Thank you so much for having here on Fresh Fiction. I’m a native Ohioan who has been living in Central North Carolina for the past decade. I write sexy, emotional romance served up with a side of family drama and surprising secrets.

SECRET HEIR SEDUCTION is my third contribution to the long-running Texas Cattleman’s Club series. In this story, a fashion mogul discovers his true paternity and newfound siblings, including the matchmaking sister determined to reunite him with his ex - a diamond heiress he split with five years ago.

Audra Covington has always lived in the shadow of her parents’ fortune, but she finally has the opportunity to prove herself through her own in-demand jewelry line with high profile clientele. Audra’s drive to succeed on her own is inspiring! What did you love about creating Audra?

Voir Série La Vie à cinq (2020) en streaming
I love that Audra has a strong sense of self and she’s determined to chart her own path. She is a confident entrepreneur who is making a name for herself and while she loves her parents very much, she’s over trying to please them. I love Audra because she’s a rebel, and it was fun writing a heroine with piercings.

Darius Taylor-Pratt is a successful athletic wear designer at the top of his game, but in Royal, Texas he discovers his true parentage, and he’s surprised to cross paths with his ex, Audra. It’s a lot to handle! How do Darius’ reactions to these difficult situations define his character? What will readers find irresistible about him?

On the eve of the biggest moment in his career, Darius discovers the true identity of his biological father, and it leaves him with more questions than answers. He also learns that he has three siblings. And as if all of that isn’t enough, he runs into his grad school ex-girlfriend - the one who got away. I love flawed characters, and Darius has made a lot of mistakes. Hurt and angry, he lashes out at his parents for withholding the identity of his father, damaging his relationship with them. And he even handled things badly with Audra five years ago. Now he is trying to rectify things with his parents and with Audra while navigating this new reality, which creates a new dilemma for him.

What I find endearing about Darius is that he is a genuinely good guy who has made some serious mistakes. But now he is trying to protect and make amends with the people he cares about while also forging relationships with his newfound family. He’s trying to do right by everyone, yet, he very humanly stumbles and screws up. And since I love characters that have little quirks, I love that Darius is a stress eater. His go-to stress meal is a bacon cheeseburger, wedge fries and a strawberry shake. ;-)

Reese Ryan writes the absolute best Harlequin Desires! I really love the way she plays with tropes and just keeps a tight hold of her plotting.

4.5 stars! This story caught my attention with Darius finding out about his biological father and having to deal with that secret and the fallout from it, while getting a second chance with his first love, Audra. Both were entrepreneurs, which was a plus for me. They were independent, strong, and dealing with situations that they did not want to be in. His insecurities and anger kept him from allowing in the love from those who loved him the most.

Audra was being pushed to marry someone that she did not love because her father approved of the match. I liked her right away. Her jewelry design business did custom pieces that brought her to Royal. It also strengthened her resolve to not settle for less than love. Darius and she were next door rental house neighbors, which meant that they would see each other more often than not. Those sexy encounters sizzled into hot sex.

I enjoyed the secondary characters of his siblings and their partners as well Lulu and Kace's undercover hookup. It did leave me wanting to read the previous books in the series to find out more about those romances.

Note: I had originally gotten a Netgalley advance reading copy, but enjoyed it so much that I bought a copy.

Darius Taylor Pratt is a Harvard-educated, self-made businessman. Owner of Thr3d active wear, he has earned every single one of his successes. So when he discovers he is the secret heir to a billionaire father who kept track of him all his life but never once deigned to contact him, it rocks his carefully constructed world. More surprises await Darius, including the return of his love interest, Audra Covington. Her appearance after their love affair during their MBA studies causes complications when it becomes evident that the chemistry has not abated with time.

This is a second-chance love story. Ryan's writing is tight and the pacing is perfectly orchestrated, giving you one twist and reveal after another. You are never pulled out of the story. The romance between Darius is sexy, fraught and well-earned. These are two highly intelligent people with history and emotional baggage to work out, coming together in an already tense situation. Their HEA is convincing and well-earned.

The secondary characters are fascinating in their own right, which is important, because the couples in the novel receive their own stories in other books in the series (I walked in to the middle, so I have some catching up to do). However, Secret Heir Seduction can easily be read as a stand-alone and I did not feel like I was at a disadvantage for not having read the previous ones. That being said, there is also an over-arching storyline that spans all the novels, engaging the reader to follow the story to the very end.

Great world building, excellent characters, and the romance is fuego! I'm looking forward to catching up to this series.

I received a copy from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

One can never go wrong with a Reese Ryan story. Her character development and realism is incredibly spot on and highly entertaining. Her books are forever on-clicks for me.

Audra and Darius dated in grad school at Harvard five years ago. Darius broke her heart and also told a lie that Audra discovered three years ago. Audra is brought to Royal Texas for a job. Darius is brought to Royal for a meeting with a women that could catapult his company Thr3d. The confusion of the past becomes the confusion of the present and sorting out the details is what makes this family saga a good one.

I loved that there were multiple couples in love. I have many questions that I thought would've been answered in this book, but realized that there are three books before this one, I haven't read and two that are after. I will definitely have to get my hands on this entire series. I adored Sophie. She was a sweet matchmaker who truly welcomed Darius. I need to know her backstory with Nigel. I want to know more about the mysterious brother Vaughn and the budding romance between Kace and Lulu. In one of these books I just have to know about their awful father who died alone.

I was given an ARC from Harlequin via Netgalley

•I received an ARC of this book in exchange of an honest review•

The fourth installment of The Texas Cattleman’s Club: Inheritance series (you could see the reviews of the first three books on my Goodreads shelf) turns out to be better than it’s previous book. It’s a story with a solid argument, a believable conflict and interesting scenes. That said, I found myself a little surprised because there are so many chapters in the book. Twenty-four to be exact. In a Desire book with only 224 pages? That’s a lot of chapters. Not that this affects the book in a negative way, but it was something I didn’t expect it. The book, on the other hand, runs smoothly and it’s easy to read. With a decent prose and perfect transitions between scenes, it’s a good story.

A well written and enjoyable book, Ms. Ryan did a good job with Secret Heir Seduction. The ending is nice and it gives some allure to look forward to the two books remaining in the series. Highly recommended.

SECRET HEIR SEDUCTION is the fourth book in the TEXAS CATTLEMAN’S CLUB: INHERITANCE series, and it took me back to Royal, Texas without missing a beat. Audra is a jewelry designer to the stars, and Darius founded his own clothing line and is readying for his show during Fashion Week.

Audra and Darius were together five years ago, but he broke her heart when he broke it off, and he’s regretted it ever since. We’re reunited with some of the Blackwood family, who are ultra-rich but want to be richer now that dear old dad is dead!

The story takes place in Texas and LA, and there are a lot of secrets to be told. Filled with matchmaking and heat-up-the-sheets moments, SECRET HEIR SEDUCTION plays up the family drama. The characters have depth, and it was fun getting to know them. The story flows smoothly with surprising details that left me wanting more.

In addition to this book, I’ve read the second book in the series, RICH, RUGGED RANCHER, but definitely want to read the rest. Each story is penned by a different author. Ms. Ryan is a new-to-me author and I look forward to reading more of her books.

When I can start in the middle of a series and almost immediately decide that you need to read the rest of the series, I call that a job well done! I really enjoyed being back in the world of Royal, Texas and the Texas Cattleman's Club and I feel like Reese Ryan did an EXCELLENT job of adding some color into a world that can come off as pretty whitewashed. I believed the tension and chemistry between Darius and Audra and I loved the second chance aspect of their romance. I also really loved watching the connection build between Darius and his new found siblings. One of my favorite things though, is while the romance is definitely a central component of the plot, there are plenty of other plot points (business operations, family tension, exes, and even a secondary romance) to keep you interested and riveted on the page. 3.5 out of 5 wine glasses.

Secret Heir Seduction is Reese Ryan’s fourth book in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Inheritance series, and like the rest of her series, it is a riveting story.

What I liked about Secret Heir Seduction is that Ryan allows us to get to know Audra and Darius through a slow (re)building of their relationship. Despite them having known each other five years ago, Ryan doesn’t shortchange the reader by having her characters gloss over the preliminaries. And in so doing, she shows us that her characters respect that the other has grown in maturity and experience since those early days and that they need to learn about each other anew. She has them work through all their issues, including their trust issues, on page, thus convincing us how ultimately binding their HEA is.

Ive been a fan of Reese for a while and Ive always loved second chance romances. in this story, Darius, broke up with his college sweetheart, Audra without a reason or explanation .He is back in town to find out more information about his family and they realize that they still have feelings for each other. I enjoyed the book. however, I felt I would have appreciated it more if I had read the other books before this one. I felt left out because I didn't know the other characters. I will continue to read more from Reese Ryan

Darius Taylor-Pratt is excited to be called to Royal, Texas to meet with the owner of Goddess in hopes of a partnership with his clothing line Thr3d. He is shocked when his ex-girlfriend Audra Lee Covington is staying right next door to him. When Darius finds out the real reason he is in Royal, it sends his world in a tailspin. He is thankful to have Audra there to cope, but he can't exactly tell her what is really going on. Audra is now a jewelry designer, in town to make wedding pieces for step-daughter of Goddess. The pair find themselves together on more than one occasion while they are in town together. Will they be able to get through their past in order to make a future together, or will secrets and lies keep them apart still?

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is the second title I have read by Reese Ryan and this was a good one. After Darius found out that his parents had been keeping a secret from him his whole life, he distances himself from them. When he meets Audra in grad school, their relationship is still strained, so he is not honest with her about them. Audra comes from a political family that Darius knows he will never fit in to, so he breaks up with her before she is forced to do it. Five years later, they both find themselves in Royal, TX. It's a strange coincidence.

Darius still feels the attraction for Audra and the feeling is mutual. Can he be honest with her this time around? Will she accept his apologies and be able to move forward?

This was a fast paced romance that you had to know how it was all going to end. This is a couple that were meant for each other, but will they make it?

This is the first book I’m reading in this Texas Cattleman’s Club series and apparently is the 4th book in the series and you can kind of tell that the other couples that feature in this book have had their moment and that you are missing some insider context back story with them. Nonetheless, this stands alone pretty well although sometimes I felt like too many characters were being introduced- but again, that’s probably because if you’ve been reading this series, they’ll feel like old friends.

This is a second-chance romance featuring Darius, a fashion designer who broke up with his college sweetheart, Audra, a successful high end jewellery designer, years ago suddenly and without any reasonable explanation and now years later runs into her when he comes to a small town to find out about his heritage. I thought this was fine. I liked it well enough. I think I would have liked it more if I read the other books with other TCC couples first because I would have felt a greater connection to the characters. I discovered this author last year and fell in love with her writing. Whilst this doesn’t hit the same high for me, this was still an enjoyable read and I liked it and would recommend it.

I received this book from Harlequin Books through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Darius is looking for a business deal and gets more than he bargains for in a small Texas town. An old flame of his from 5 years ago threatens to sweep him off his feet again and he learns some family secrets....

Secret Heir Seduction is sweet, classy action-packed and realistic. I was hooked from start to finish.

Reese Ryan is a new author to me. The book is part of a series and finishing this one left me wanting to explore more by the author. Excellent eye for detail, sweet romance good plot and short chapters kept the pacing good and interesting.

Thanks to Reese Ryan and Harlequin for my ARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

Well I don’t know about you but now seems like a fantastic time to hunker down in your blanket fort, eat snacks, and get fully sucked into a book! I joke, but really, I hope you and your family and friends are faring well during this COVID-19 crisis. If you’re like me, you’re likely vacillating between anxiety and panic on one hand and totally embracing this socially acceptable to self isolate. In either case, I always turn to books for comfort!

I blew through this book! This now my second Harlequin romance book and I completely understand now why so many romance readers have gotten hooked romance after reading these. They’re delectable and easy to read.

I particularly loved that both characters, despite being very successful currently, were both self-made business owners. However, there is a distinction with Audra’s pedigreed background and Darius’ lack thereof. I appreciated this dynamic and I felt that both characters were real and relatable.

I’m new to this kind of “billionaire romance” and I definitely have to be in the mood to read it because at times I definitely eye-rolled at the mentions of all the bling and expensive labels. This says more about me as a reader than anything to do with Ryan’s writing. And like the last Harlequin romance I review, I find the pacing and length a bit tricky. At certain points I wanted a bit more, however, again this same more about the format than Ryan’s abilities.

Overall, if you are looking for a fast, fun, billionaire style romance I think this novel is a great option and and will fully capture your attention!

Explosive secrets come to life! With the fourth book in the Texas Cattleman's Club: Inheritance series, Reese Ryan brings the illegitimate secret son of Buckley Blackwood to Royal, Texas.

Darius Taylor-Pratt is such an easy guy to like. He's worked hard to grow his company, and isn't happy to have a possible business deal bring him to town only to sideswipe him with the information of who his secret father was. To make matters even more electrifying, his temporary next door neighbor is none other than his former grad school girlfriend who's heart he broke when he dumped her with no explanation.

Audra Lee Covington is a strong, accomplished character ... who still has a soft spot for the one that got away. He might have broken her heart, but the time they shared together still stands out as the happiest time of her life.

I highly recommend this book and the series as a whole to anyone who enjoys lots of drama mixed into their romance. I'm looking forward to more to come in the series!

Secret Heir Seduction is a second chance romance, one of my favorite romance tropes. The romance angst depends a lot on miscommunication or a lack of communication, which isn't a favorite plot device, but Darius and Audra do have good chemistry. This is the fourth book in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Inheritance series, but I was able to follow the other characters' well enough. There were a few things in the middle of the book that left me feeling like I missed something, but other than that, this one does stand on its own. The romance was good, but I enjoyed the parts with Darius and his siblings as much as the romance if not more so. The book was well written, the pacing was steady, and the characters were interesting. All in all, I enjoyed the book, and I would read another by Reese Ryan.

Reese Ryan is one of the authors who has made me a fan of Harlequin Desire books. I honestly see her name and don't bother to read the blurb. That is definitely what happened with Secret Heir Seduction, the fourth book in the Texas Cattleman's Club: Inheritance series. Having read all the previous books in the series, I don't think you have to read them all to understand what’s happening, but I do recommend reading the first book, Tempting the Texan by Maureen Child. Tempting the Texan sets up the series, introducing you to the characters and establishes the series conflict and mystery.

The Inheritance series revolves around the children of Buck Blackwood and their quest to contest their father's will after he dies and leaves his vast billion-dollar fortune to his younger ex-wife Miranda Dupree. In death, Buck not only seems to continue to disregard his children but leaves his attorney, Kace LeBlanc, to inform his “loved ones” that he also has a child who was the result of an affair while he was married to his children's mother. Miranda is tasked with finding Darius Taylor-Pratt, Buck’s biracial son he fathered with actress Liberty Taylor. To get Darius to come to Royal, Texas, Miranda tells Darius that she would like to collaborate with him, in designing an activewear line for her Goddess, Inc. company.

For the past five years, Darius has been working tirelessly to create and build his activewear company, Th3rd. Partnering with Miranda and Goddess is an opportunity Darius can't possibly pass up, even on the eve of the company's first fashion show. While Darius has given up any hope of finding out who his biological father is, he's more than surprised to learn that all the financial struggles he’s endured could have been avoided if Buck would have acknowledged him in life. Miranda convinces Darius to stay in Royal for a while to get to know the place. She even sets him up with his own house. Darius is shocked to run into his ex-girlfriend, Audra Covington, who is in town to design jewelry for his new half-sister Sophie's upcoming wedding. He's even more shocked and a little excited to discover Audra is renting the house next to his.

Five years ago, Darius broke Audra’s heart when he walked away from her with no explanation given. While Darius loved Audra more than anything, he didn't feel his love was enough for Audra, who's a diamond heiress from a rich political family. While Audra has gone on with her life, she hasn't forgotten about Darius and the way he made her feel.

I’m a huge fan of second chance romances. The characters already know each other, they have a shared history, at least one of them carries a little animosity, and just below the surface, there is still passion burning hot, waiting to explode. And passion explosion is exactly what happened between Audra and Darius. I loved watching these two together. Their back and forth banter made for an enjoyable read. Their stripped down raw honesty with themselves and each other is what captured my heart. “No matter how hard I try to push you out of my head...you’re always there.” “Whatever it is you’re feeling, just...feel it. Don’t pretend the feelings aren’t there.”

From the beginning of the series, reality TV personality Lulu Shepherd and Kace LeBlanc captured my attention. I was over the moon to finally have their relationship discussed and written about. I love that readers continue to see Miranda in a different light from what the Blackwood children view her as. As with From Boardroom to Bedroom by Jules Bennett, I'm not sure if any headway was made into figuring out the mystery of Buck’s will. I just know that I loved all the characters and the way Secret Heir Seduction was written and played out. There's a secondary, secondary character named Tripp Noble that I need a story on. As for the rest of the Inheritance series, I am definitely looking forward to seeing how everything turns out.

~ FAVORITE QUOTES ~
