Herman Jiggle, Say Hello! is a richly illustrated children's story about social anxiety. I think it will appeal to my students. The author included solid Tips for Parents. This is another winner for Julia Cook. I will be purchasing a copy for my classroom. Thanks Boys Town Press and NetGalley for the ARC of this title.

This was a lovely book and the illustrations go perfectly with the concept. It’s about learning to talk when the words are jumbled in your mouth, how to be polite, and how to not be scared. The only thing that this reader was not a fan of, was the mother and her repetitive “make a good impression”. There is nothing wrong with that lesson, but it seems like something better could go there like thinking of Herman’s future, or easing his way in life.

This is a great book to read in class as there are kids that struggle with initiating conversation or speaking with others. It’s nice to see Herman continue trying even though he runs into some trouble.

I read this book last night and I thought it had some really good points.
My daughter can be very shy so this book will help give children like her confidence to speak up.
I thought that the story was easy to follow and the layout was good.
The images are nice and I liked the addition at the end of the book for learning points for parents/teachers too

Have you ever met a child with Social Anxiety? They freeze up when around others. Can't seem to talk and even persist at not speaking when others speak to them and it almost seems like they are rude.
This book helps give some tips to those children who need to know that people are not against them. To help them breath, smile and just learnt o say hello.
I'd highly recommend this book to any teachers, parents, counselors who want to help children with similar issues.
The one item I felt was over played was the idea that they must do this in order to make a "good impression". In the effort to help it actually put a lot of weight on impressions and the importance of them which could be a negative stimulater to a child with social anxiety. In other words if they make a bad impression it might be too much work to overcome that impression.

This is a sweet little book about a painfully shy and socially awkward kid. His mother did a good job trying to coach him in social situations but seemed alittle too stuck on what people will think. I think thats why Hermans words got stuck in his throat. Maybe if she was more accepting of him being a little different and praising him more he would have been just fine. I loved the story. The illustrations were adoreable.

ARC: Herman Jiggle Say Hello is about a boy who gets tongue tied when it comes to saying hello or talking to people. Herman Jiggle learns different techniques so he'll be able to talk to people.

I liked this book and thought that it was good. I didn't like how the mom kept saying you need to talk to make a good impression. I agree children do need to answer questions if asked, but there is nothing wrong with waving. Waving is still acknowledging the person.

I would recommend this book because I think it is a good one to read to kids. I will be buying a copy for the kids I babysit!

This is such a great children's book! I will be using it in our homeschool as we have a son who sometimes has troubles talking to new people. This book laid this problem out in a fun and engaging way. Well done!

A cute picture book that helps youngsters who are battling being shy. With cute illustrations, it shows you step by step how to get a child more comfortable with themselves when it comes to talking in public.
