Victor Method kind of came out of nowhere for me. I get pretty quickly burnt out on detective novels as there are so many constantly being released. This one was different. We've heard the copycat story. We've heard the story where the prisoner helps solve (or not solve) the case. We've heard where the detective has to reconvene with her ex to solve the crime. However, this one still feels different. Methos writing style is excellent, and. this is one that I could not put down. You may think you have read this story, but the twists and turns and suspense will keep you up late reading. I loved this one, and I'm looking forward to reading more!

Thank you to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

This is my second time reading this. After I finished this the first time I kept reading other books and I took too long to get to writing a review that I felt like I couldn't review it unless it was fresh in my mind. It is really weird. I remembered a lot from the beginning of the book and parts of the middle but I completely forgot in particular the ending and I don't mean the end of the trial but the last few pages and then once I read those pages again I remember feeling the same way as I did this time. It was as chilling this time as it was the first time I read it. And I don't mean cool or temperature cool but like when Joey from Friends saying that before he rereads the Shining again he always makes sure there is plenty of room in the freezer (if you don't know the reference... when the parts that are scariest he puts the book in the freezer until he's ready to read some more). I had truly forgotten the ending until reading it again which makes no sense because that is the climatic moment that leaves you thinking. OK we've read the synopsis and know what this story is about. Jessica Yardley makes an awesome, strong and engaging lead character and this is very much a thriller that will draw you in until you've read the last line of the book.
The only thing that bothered me and if you haven't read the book yet stop reading now. At the end Tara says to Wesley, her mom's former boyfriend- “Did you think I would let anyone hurt my mother again?” The point being that... was Wesley really a stalker? Did he stalk other people? Did he stalk Jessica and Tara before meeting Eddie Cal? Or did he begin stalking them under the direction of Eddie Cal? We all know that Eddie Cal is really the one who is responsible for all the murders and stuff that happens yet Tara seems to almost admire him and is doing his bidding even though she thinks she's “taking care of her mother” by doing the things she has done. So really shouldn't she really hate and not follow her father's suggestions? It is possible that some of these questions are answered in the next two books I don't know because I have not read them yet. I hope so. Anyway, this is a really good book and Victor Methos is a really talented writer and I can't wait to read the next two books in this series. I definitely recommend and give this a 4 ½ star rating.

Fourteen years ago Jessica Yardley’s husband was convicted for several brutal murders and is sitting on death row. Jessica has moved on, with her daughter, and is a respected federal prosecutor. But, when a rash of murders occur, the FBI asks for her help and Jessica is drawn back into the life she has tried so hard to forget.

Victor Methos is one of my favorite authors, so it’s no surprise that I looked forward to this book. Once again, Methos as written an interesting book, although I didn’t find it as compelling as others he has produced. A Killer’s Wife deals with brutal murders that are disturbing. The makeup of the criminals is, likewise, quite unsettling. The book is well-written and the twist at the end was unexpected and also somewhat jarring. However, I found it difficult to connect with the characters and some of the legal maneuverings just didn’t quite ring true. Nevertheless, it has some good bones and I definitely plan to read the second book in the Desert Plain series.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.

Excellent, riveting, easily flowing while enjoyably deep to digest. A Killer's Wife is an ensemble of macabre emotion and also triumph. A mystery with believable investigations and a reasonable complexity of heartbreak and love. Author Victor Methos will keep you both intrigued and disturbed as you struggle to put this book down.

This may be my favorite thriller this year. I loved the writing style, the plot, and the 2-part story. Really well-done. I really think readers should try this book; I recommend it to all suspense and thriller fans.

This is a really hard one for me to review, at times it was really thrilling with plenty of twists and then at other times it was really slow and I struggled to pay attention. I thought the main plot was far too obvious and so wondered what was happening when we found out at 70% who it was. It then continues to drag on for another 30%, which at times was so slow that I considered leaving it there. However, there is a brilliant twist at the end so that did make it slightly more worth while to carry on. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either; it’s got a brilliant premise but unfortunately this was very average for me.

This book is not for the faint of heart. There are a number of scenes that can be difficult to read or imagine.

That being said it is a really well written legal thriller. I did have some issues with Jessica who is supposedly one of the best lawyers and yet she can be so naive on things. And that made me roll my eyes a number of times but other than that the story was compelling and keeps you wanting to read the next chapter.

Jessica was married to a serial killer and now a copycat is out there so she gets involved in locating and stopping the copycat. And that means having to meet up with her ex-husband for help.

Very well written book and any fans of the genre will enjoy it.

This book has you from chapter 1 and keeps your attention. It really draws attention to the constant struggles of those impacted by other family member’s crimes. Having never read Victor Methos before, he is now an author I will add to my read list. Great book!

Fantastic book! This book follow a prosecutor as she tries to unravel the mystery behind the copycat killings happening in her area. Several years prior, her husband went to prison for committing multiple homicides and now theres a copy cat killer doing the same style murders as her husband. The prosecutor must now confide in her still-behind-bars ex husband to get into a killer's mindset to find the one who's still out there. The story just gets better and better each chapter and it's not a predictable one either. Five stars! I enjoyed every bit of it and couldn't put it down once I started.

This book was gifted to me by Netgalley in exchange for an honest opinion. All opinions are mine and mine alone.

A Killer’s Wife included bit about everything, love laughs, cries, and fear. So many twists and turns I didn’t see coming. This is my first book by this author and I loved it.

Wow! This book sure hooked me in the first few pages. I love how they used the main character and what her background provided to help catching the next suspect. At first I was disappointed with the direction of the book...but nope! It completely changed and thew me for a loop! Great read!

I just reviewed A Killer's Wife by Victor Methos. #AKillersWife #NetGalley

I am a fan of Victor Methos. So this review may be biased, but believe me, his books are worth your time.
Victor writes legal thrillers, and his main characters are always changing. His lawyers are quirky and very
likable. They all have a human side, and personal problems they must solve along with the work needed for the clients. HIs books are easy reads, and stand alone novels. You do not need to read a whole series to finish the story. ( Series books are a currently common, and often unwelcome style. )
In this compelling thriller, gun lobbies are the force behind the injustice. Can a little lawyer stand up to them ?
Games ability to circumvent the system and win the day will leave you cheering. Highly recommended read.

Wow. Just finished and I’m still shocked. This was a great thriller. So many twists and turns with constant curves thrown in. There was so much action with all of the crimes and culprits. I loved the characters of Yardley & Baldwin. I hope there are more books with them leading the charge. This one had a big twist at the end I didn’t see coming at all! Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book started out so strong and then it kind of gave way toward the middle and picked back up again. I'd sayt his is a SOLID 4.5. This reminded me a bit of Stillhouse Lake but way better in my opinion. In this one the wife doesn’t run, she becomes a lawyer. And I’m not saying anything else but I could NOT put it down! If you want a quick read that fullfills you - this is the one! Great work!

First off, I would like to thank NetGalley, Thomas & Mercer, and author Victor Methos for providing me with an ARC of this novel.

I had never heard of this author before joining NetGalley and finding this book, but am I sure glad that I found him! This was a twisty, intense, and amazing read. A good thriller is hard to find, and when you do find one, it’s a wonderful ride.

Fourteen years ago, our main character’s husband was arrested and put in jail for a series of horrific murders. Years later, she has made a good life for herself and her daughter as an attorney. Her years of peace come crashing down around her as a bunch of new homicides become known. And they’re awfully comparable to her ex-husband Eddie’s way of killing.

The FBI asks for Jessica’s help in finding this copycat murderer, but that means facing her past and the man who tore her life apart.

Some of the plot twists were expected, but most were not. The ending was phenomenal, and truly this book kept me enthralled the whole way through. If you haven’t read a good thriller lately, pick up this book. You won’t be disappointed!

Thank you again to those listed for providing me with an ARC of this novel!

I have been looking for a good thriller lately and this one really hit the spot!

14 years ago Jessica's husband was put in prison for a series of brutal murders so when more couples are murdered in similar fashions the FBI comes to her for help. While some of the plot twists I could see coming, I did not see the ending at all. If you are looking for a quick read to distract you from social distancing I highly recommend this one!

This is the first book that I have read by Victor Methos. However, it is most definitely not the last. The author has a talent for telling the story in such a way that it unfolds effortlessly while still holding on to the exploration of the nuances of the different characters. Jessica Yardley was married to a serial killer who is now on death row, but there are similar killings taking place. Did her husband have an accomplice or is this a copycat? Multiple twists and turns keep you on your toes making this a real page-turner. I enjoyed the fact that the characters were portrayed as intelligent. On the other hand, the evilness of some of the characters really makes you think, and realize, that there is some real evil in the world. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would love to see a sequel with the daughter as a prominent character. I believe there is something there that needs to be explored. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.
