My daughter and I were big fans of 'Bears on Chairs,' and we also enjoyed reading this new installment of the bears and their adventures! It's Halloween, and the bears learn how to share with each other in order to have a great parade! The illustrations are as equally sweet as the message.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC.

Bears and Boos is a Halloween-themed story about five bears who want to dress up. But in the melee, one of the bears misses out and doesn't manage to grab a costume. Luckily, she has kind friends, and they offer up parts of their costumes so she can dress up and join in the fun.

The rhythm of the verse is a bit off in spots, but it isn't too bad overall. The story is simple and sweet. Adorable illustrations of the bears highlight the message of caring and kindness.

Overall, this would be a nice addition to the Halloween shelf. I'd recommend it to very young children, however, due to the simplicity of the story.

Bears and Boos written by Shirley Parenteau with art by David Walker is a lovely picture book starring some adorable little bears dressing up for Halloween and teaching young readers an important lesson along the way.

This is a lovely, gentle, and fright-free Halloween story that is perfect for very young readers. Big Brown Bear, Fuzzy, Yellow, Calico, and Floppy are excited to dress up for Halloween. Everyone grabs a costume from the costume box… except poor Floppy who gets lost in the rush. Now, there are no costumes left for her! What’s a little bear to do? But, with help from her friends, Floppy becomes the holiday queen. Now, everyone is happy and ready for the parade!

Shirley Parenteau’s rhyming narration is simple and cute. It’s wonderful to read aloud and definitely helps in emphasizing the book’s lesson of sharing, caring, and helping others. The book is short and the storyline is very easy to follow which makes this a great treat for young readers. I also think older children will definitely benefit from the book’s lessons! I particularly like that although this is a Halloween themed story, there are no scares or frights which really allows the message to shine.

David Walker’s cheerful and colourful illustrations are festively Halloween and super cute. I love the distinct and adorable little group of bears. I love the variation in their colours and their cute costumes are particularly sweet.

This book is lovely and easy to read. I really hope to see more of these bears’ adventures in the future!

I read this with my 3.5 year old and it was a big hit. The illustrations are cute, the message is a good one, and best of all it's a Halloween story!

This was a super cute book! A great lesson on sharing and playing together. I'm interested in reading more of the books about these bears. I enjoyed this a lot. But I feel like it was so short.

It’s Halloween and almost time for Big Brown Bear, Fuzzy, Yellow, Calico and Floppy to go to the parade. The young bears are eager to find the items they need for their costumes and in the rush Floppy is knocked over.

Only one item remains in the box when the other bears are done and it’s not enough for a costume. One by one the other bears share an item from their costumes with Floppy. Then it’s time to go to the parade.

With an emphasis on learning to share, ‘Bears and Boos’ is an introduction to Halloween, minus the scares. I always find bears easy to love; the colour palette used in the illustrations made this book’s bears even more adorable. I particularly liked Calico, who’s wearing the wizard’s hat.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Candlewick Press for the opportunity to read this book.

Who doesn't think tiny colorful bears with names like Floppy and Fuzzy aren't super cute? Just look at them all dressed up for Halloween. Bears and Boos by Shirley Parenteau starts out with a box of Haloween costumes, and all the bears run over to the box to pull out what they want. It ends up getting a little chaotic, and poor Floppy gets knocked down. She decides to wait until everyone is finished so she can get her costume together, but when she looks in the box, only a stash is left. All the other bears start to offer Floppy pieces of their costume, and she ends up being a holiday queen. Then, all the bears go on a parade to show off their costumes with Floppy leading the way. The end of the book talks about how great it is to share.

Apparently this is in the Bears on Chairs series. I will definitely be checking out more books in this series and putting some on Emmett's book wishlist. This was a great book about sharing, which is perfect to introduce during Halloween because some kids get greedy with candy, and that is never fun. Bears and Boos would make a great gift for a child ages 0 to 5 for Halloween.

The illustrations are cute and fun, especially when it gets to the part where the bears are showing off their costumes. The story was written very well, so it is easy to read, and it can be read over and over again without getting annoying. I highly suggest this book and think it should be added to your child's to-read list.

Teaching our children to share can be a difficult but with Bears and Boos, we can show our little ones what it looks like to be greedy. The bears are excited about Halloween and dressing up, so excited that they knock down one of the littlest bears and realize it is better to share. When we share, we all win.

Fans of the previous "Bears on Chairs" will enjoy a return of these sweet young bears. In this book, the bears dress up to prepare for Halloween. They also learn to share after one bear gets hurt. This book is great for kids that don't like anything scary in their Halloween stories. A great message and soft cozy art make this book heartwarming!
