This book went beyond my expectations! It was so satisfying. I couldn't stop reading it, What a great thriller I will be recommending to any one who like suspenseful books. Going to grab Nay's first book now!

This book is a great if you want a slow thriller with a focus on family-driven drama. It's super slow until around 60% in, so you have to be committed to the story to really enjoy it. I did really like getting perspectives from both sisters. It was well-written.

Hurry Home by Roz Nay is an interesting thriller. Some of the characters were quite complex and disturbing. The story themes are interesting and keep the reader interested. I think that overall it is a fairly good read. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

This is a pretty gripping romp! Two sisters, Alex and Ruth, who go in different directions after a traumatic event. Alex has a charmed life - a good job and a good relationship. Then her sister shows up. With reservations Alex decides to give the relationship another chance. But Ruth isn't telling her everything... There were times I knew what was coming, but it was still a thoroughly enjoyable read!!

I received this through NetGalley for a review, but I actually read this through audio via the library. This was my first read my Roz Nay about a social worker living with her boyfriend and who's long estranged sister shows up pregnant. They agree that they will not talk about their past, because their secrets could be life changing. This was slowing going, but once the secrets start to surface the action picks up. This book is definitely part of my wheelhouse with the unreliable narrator writing style. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoins books by Gillian Flynn or Ruth Ware.

Alex has made it professionally as well and is working in her dream job in child protection. When Alex’s long-lost sister, Ruth, shows up on her doorstep, Alex’s perfect life is suddenly in jeopardy. Ruth was always known as the troublemaker growing up and Alex always ended up getting pulled in. Ruth is back needing Alex’s help once more, but Alex is hesitant. She will only agree if Ruth promises never to mention their childhood. What is it Alex wants to keep hidden so desperately?

HURRY HOME is a domestic drama examining the lives of two sisters who grew up as thick as thieves, until their life choices took them on separate paths. Now that Alex and Ruth are back together, their world’s are colliding in a way that Alex does not want. Roz Nay has crafted a tangled web of secrets around these two sisters filled with mystery and deception in both present day and the past.

Nay chooses to weave together the stories of Alex and Ruth through alternating narratives. It is from each our main characters that the reader is able to piece together what happened to drive these sisters apart. It is immediately apparent that there is tension between these two, but you can’t be certain which sister’s story contains the truth. I really enjoyed the dynamic between the sisters and the sort of cat and mouse game with the truth that their narratives told.

I’ll be honest, I went into this book expecting a thriller and what I found was more of a slow burn. The first part of the book dragged a bit for me and felt like the story didn’t really have a clear direction. The introduction of the sister’s back stories and information from their childhood helped to speed things along and get the story back where I thought it wanted to be in the beginning.

HURRY HOME is great for fans of family dramas and mysteries that surround those aspects. I think it’s important to know it’s a slow burn going in and not set your expectations on a high pace thriller. While I was able to guess most of the story it still made for an enjoyable audiobook and I would definitely be open to trying more from the author!

A positive, solid 3 stars for this book. The first half dragged with the family drama and the mystery kinda in the background. At the halfway point, it picked up a bit, though, with the mystery deepening and the uncertainty with who was telling the truth growing (you get the perspective from each of 2 sisters). It was an easy read but it did take me a while to get through it because it just didn't grab me until the second half, as I mentioned. I think if you go into it knowing what it's going to be, then you might enjoy it more.

Alex is a social worker who will stop at nothing to save a child. Ruth is her wild-card sister, who always seems to make every situation bad. Alex is a strict, by-the-book type person, who lives with her flighty, easy going boyfriend Chase, until her sister shows up 10 years after the sisters have last seen each other - pregnant. Who's secrets will be revealed first?

The entire book kept my interest, with proof that unreliable narrators can be good! With dual POV's from sisters Ruth and Alex, both playing the victim, leaving the reader guessing who's side to be on throughout the whole novel. I didn't care for any of the characters much in this book, which usually also doesn't work for me, but it really did this time. I thought I had them figured out, frantically trying to figure out which sister to root for as the novel continued. I highly recommend this book for thriller/domestic suspense lovers!

No groundbreaking storyline here, but it was an engrossing psychological thriller that draws you into the intricate secrets of siblings.

Alex has created the perfect life for herself, not the least of which is her wealthy, handsome boyfriend Chase. She’s employed as a social worker for child protective service. And, perhaps has an issue with boundaries that finds Alex getting too personally involved with her cases. But to be fair, Alex is young, enthusiastic and well-intentioned.

An un-expected knock on her door is courtesy of her sister Ruth, and Alex reluctantly invites her into her home and life. How could she possibly turn her away? Especially, since Ruth is very pregnant. But she does set one un-breakable rule…under no circumstance is Ruth allowed to bring up their childhood to Chase. Interesting.... my inner Sherlock Holmes tells me there’s surely something to hide. Agreed!?

This was a fun, twisty debut from Roz Nay. I did have a number of the twists figured out early, but over-all still a fun thriller if you’re able to suspend your believability.

I used to read many mystery/thrillers when I was younger but I just fell out of it (sadly) when I grew a bit older. I really wanted to remedy this and I saw Hurry Home and its absolutely attention-grabbing blurb, so I here we are!

Alex works in child protection, her dream job and passion. She has a local kid that she believes is in need of help and is trying to help. But then her sister Ruth, the 'wild child' sister, drops in at her doorstep with secrets and childhood troubles. Pretty soon, the Van Ness sisters stir up childhood hurts and questions as they try to co-exist. But like all good thrillers, nothing is as straightforward as it seems.

The two Van Ness sisters took centre stage throughout the whole book here. They were pretty much the most interesting and the most mysterious characters in the whole book. Alex is the first sister we meet and I actually liked her a lot, but a lot of her character doesn't come out till the story reaches its climax. Ruth was the same as well; she was a mystery to me until maybe the 50% mark. But I liked them as sisters and the history that goes back years between them. Really the star of this whole story!

I liked that the author kept the side characters to a manageable number, and the ones that really caught my eye were Chase and Sully. They're such opposites but I liked their interactions with each other as well as the Van Ness sisters. I'll admit that Sully could get a bit annoying at times, but I still liked how he came around in the end and contributed a huge bit to the story. Chase is such an adorable guy that I felt so bad for him throughout the whole story!

I thought it was a great plot with some mind-boggling twists! I saw some of them coming, but that was all overshadowed by the really great plot twists that kept this story going.

The story had an obvious climax that kept me on the edge of my seat and awake into the next morning! This book is definitely nailed the thriller element of its story.

I am happy with how the story ended too. Everything that came up in memories or happened previously in the story was brought to a clean end. I was very happy for the characters and almost wished there was a sequel so I could see them living their new normal lives, but no. This story ended at the perfect moment.

The only bit that I was not happy with completely was that I felt the child care protection process was simplified a bit. It made things a little less believable, but in the end, I was just happy with the story anyway.

I really liked Roz Nay's style of writing. It was very smooth and effectively conveyed moods of dread and anticipation throughout the story. She ramped up the suspense very well too. I couldn't even swallow properly at the most intense moments; all I wanted was to get to the bottom of it ASAP!

The use of both sisters as main POVs is a genius idea! The story was pretty much centred around the two of them and their history, but there were no explanatory passages, so the reader was only privy to their present thoughts. The past was shown as memories but in either one of their POV. It really brought a new layer of complexity to this story, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I think evaluating themes in Hurry Home is very complex since I do not want to spoil the story. But I'll give it a go!

There is the 'good vs. bad' theme, which the sisters themselves represented. Their actions and what people believed of them all questioned what exactly makes someone good or bad, and the fact that calling it the grey in-between makes more sense. Even the case of the 'local child' brings questions as to how we label people 'good' or 'bad'.

Also, 'family' plays a huge role in the plot. What the sisters were willing to do for and to each other, especially since they were at two extremes, was very interesting for me. The roles of 'parents' is a big deal here too because we have the child protection case that spans the whole story as well, and Ruth and Alex themselves who pretty much centre their actions on this one factor.

I thoroughly enjoyed Hurry Home. It was a great thriller with an amazing cast and well-driven plot. If I'm being honest, the significance of the book title devastated me! This book left me feeling raw and exhausted in a good way!

I have mixed feelings about this book. It was okay but not stellar. I felt the same way about a previous title from this author so maybe I'm not connecting with the writing style.

All in all I would say this book is deeply disturbing. Given that one of the characters is a sociopath. A master manipulator willing to bend truth and manipulate people and evidence to get her way. Everyone else in the story are victims of the hurricane of treachery. After a decidedly rough life, sisters Ruth and Alex have followed decidedly different paths. Alex becoming a successful CPS worker in Colorado, and Ruth wasting her time following loser, low life guys before an unexpected pregnancy forces her to leave her destructive life. With nowhere to go, Ruth turns to her sister Alex, a strained relationship in which they haven’t spoken in 10 years. Trying to trust her, Alex allows Ruth to stay in the apartment she shares with longtime boyfriend Chase. It isn’t long before old demons rise to the surface and the life Alex has built tips on its axis. With a new baby about to enter the world, both women are driven toward their own interests. Who will win this time? This is a very twisty, warped tale. It’s a tad personal for me, as I have encountered a life ruining sociopath in my past as well. Hurry Home by Roz Nay is suspenseful, thought provoking and page turning novel. I couldn't put it down and basically read it from start to finish without a break. I found it engaging and very well written.

I really enjoyed the characters in the book, especially Chase. I also ended up liking the sister Ruth, but not initially.

This is the story of Alex, a social worker in child protective services, whose sister Ruth shows up unannounced at her door, pregnant, after a decade of not hearing from her and even presuming she was probably dead. A whole host of problems pop up after her arrival. You will definitely be astonished by the plot twists that will for sure catch you off guard. Be prepared for a shock by how the story plays out in the end.

If I could change anything about the story it would be more backstory for Chase, (Alex's love interest, whom she resides with), and the same for the police officer who is in love with her and had an integral part in this book.

Overall I thought the book was incredibly fun to read. I enjoyed all of the twists and turns the plot took. I would highly recommend to those who love a good, unputdownable psychological thriller. This was my first book by Roz Nay and it certainly will not be my last!

I had a hard time deciding whether to rate this 4 or 5 stars so I give it 4.5 stars rounded up to 5!

Hurry Home was such an exciting, thrilling - THRILLER! This was my first book by Roz Nay, and I was blown away!

There are two sisters that have dark secrets, and they are trying desperately to have them stay secrets. The story is told through both sisters' perspectives, and it really created an excellent dynamic to the story. We are able to understand how both sisters feel...but it created that feeling of "who can I trust". I loved that!

Overall, this was a book filled with twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat, I loved it!

I enjoyed this book, but I wouldn't say its my new all time favorite. I love thrillers with families at the heart of it and this certainly had family drama. I feel like I spent the whole book trying to figure out which sister is the evil one considering they were both giving the same story but presented in different ways. As a set of two sisters, my sister is also currently pregnant this definitely hit close to home. This book will defiantly stick with me, would I recommend it. YES

I was hoping to like this one more than I did, but I found it just alright. Maybe because I was secretly cheering for Alex even though she clearly had issues? I think I was just hoping for some great twist towards the end and was kind of underwhelmed.

Didn't enjoy this read at all. It had an element of suspense to it, but moved really slowly. I made it through the first half and skipped around to the end, just to find out what happened. I'm likely in the minority, but I need a thriller/mystery novel to race. It's hard for me to do a slow build.

I've tried multiple times to get into this book but unfortunately I can't. I got the audiobook from the library as well but unfortunately this just isn't a book for me. Thank you for the opportunity to read it.
